You just know you'd never survive the wasteland. When my gang of leather clad bikers, wearing hockey masks and brandishing fully automatic weapons pulls up on your pathetic "home," you will be crushed switfly, and without a fight. We will drink of your blood, and eat the flesh of your family.

I'll make a note

?!

I suppose everyone deserves they're guns...

I've heard gun shows are a good place to get guns too, with minimal red tape.

Everyone can a get a gun, if they want really. Legally or illegally.

Still...though. Wow.

I just attended a gun show and had to go through the same typical procedures as I normally do to purchase a firearm.

Gun shows are scary places, that attract scary people. I was at one a couple months ago, the anti-government rhetoric and pro-government hypocrisy I seen at booths and in the people was kinda mind numbing.

What about my freedom to carry a katana in public? Where do I get a license to carry melee weapons? They are arms after all.

You could say the same about comic conventions

Nothing is scarier than a furries convention.

And if gun shows bring out people you think are weird or creepy, it doesn't matter because I'm sure all of them obtained and use their guns legally. People who want to keep their rights generally don't act in a way that would risk them losing those rights.

I think that there should be no gun laws at all. If everyone has guns, society will break down much quicker, and I can live in my post-apocalyptic Mad Max style wasteland sooner rather than later, and be king of the midwest, ruling with an iron fist.

I can buy into this.

As long as I get to add "Mad" infront of my name, I can totally buy into this.

I assumed there was supposed to be a waiting period for there to be a background check, usually though. Doesn't it time to that?

Will your gang be called, "The Jokerz"?

You have a point.

They'd be even scarier with guns and katanas.

REAL guns and katanas, that is...:whatever:

The waiting period was about 20-30 minutes but that is because of how busy it is at these things. Their pretty strict on the form you have to fill out too. The only problem so far that I'm seeing with it is that there is just a question on the form that states 'Have you ever been commited to a mental institution or have had any history of serious mental disorders?' or something along those lines. Its pretty easy as you know to just say 'No'. I feel when they run a background check stuff like that should be flagged on a person and then they shouldn't be allowed to purchase a firearm. Maybe thats just me. I put the blame solely on the system that checks people.

There's no way to run a background check in 30 minutes to determine if someone has a history of mental illness. You need to do some serious digging to figure that out.

20-to-30 minutes sounds superfast.

I always thought background checks would take a few days, atleast.

I'm of the mind that it shouldn't be impossible to buy a gun (i.e., no outright ban), but it should be extremely difficult. 20-30 minutes is WAY too fast.

But the only people that stops from purchasing guns are those that aren't dangerous.

If you want a gun to specifically commit a crime, you have already decided to take that major step. So a few days extra weight for the gun is going to stop you? Or being forced to buy a gun illegally is going to stop you?

The only people that are impacted by difficult access to guns are the people that we shouldn't be preventing from having a gun.

We should just give them away.

On a side note, is there some kind of tutorial period needed or something? To atleast teach them how to handle one?

You seem to apply rational thought to crazy people.

IRONY!!!

Speaking of scary...could you please give us one documented example of a shooting or violent act that took place at one of these scary gun shows?

They need to work on getting their database checks to be a bit quicker.

I'm sure it is different in each state. I've only ever bought weapons in Missouri. You also can't buy weapons across state lines legally.

No, 20 to 30 minutes should be plenty of time for your FBI background check to run its course. If they can't find your information in 20-30 minutes then there is something wrong with THEIR systems.

The family and friends of the 8-year-old boy will of course take no solace in this conclusion. But it is a good reminder that when something tragic (and anomalous) spurts up in the daily news, we shouldn’t rush to instantly paint it as representative of the larger picture.

this is from the end of that article...is it sad...most definitely...does it mean every gun show should be shut down immediately....**** no
