One man armies fighting will destroy the country. Didn't the Wild West teach us anything?

What Document leads you to believe the Founding Fathers would believe this?

Document ? i am talking about what is moral you don't run your life based on a piece of paper do you. I would hope some on here would live their life on what is moral and ethical and some common sense. That any caring person ( our forefathers) would not have written such a law if they knew how many unnecessary deaths were responsible by this law.

So...you are admitting that the statement "I'll tell you this our forefathers would not have created such a law if they new how deadly our modern weapons would be" has absolutely no basis on fact is instead just based purely on your own opinion.

Also, taking away the right to a gun does not take away the existence of guns. If you banned guns all together in this country, criminals (who job is to disobey the law) would still have them. Only law abiding citizens would be stripped of their guns...making them vulnerable to predators.

Read the federalist papers. They help explain it but to quickly answer your questions it would appear that it wasn't a right. Hence why our founding fathers wrote it into our Constitution. To protect our country first and foremost against Enemies of our country. The second reason no one likes to hear because it's 'crazy'.

Im just playing devils advocate....:yay:

Actually being an effective devil's advocate is hard because you tend to have to try to sell something you do not actually believe in. It's always easier to speak from your heart than someone elses.

People always put a lot of stock in rights that were written down...but still written by man....we revere "what was written down first"....because that is essentially what the debate about Gun Control is about....

The fact is that even if the founding fathers had no position on firearms, banning guns would be illogical in today's world. Again, the only people it would effect are the people that care about the law...which aren't the problem.

I could get any of the advanced one man weapons of today and I could wipe out an entire Revolutionary platoon.

Something written down a long time ago sometimes doesn't work. The founding fathers did and do have good ideas for America but times have changed since then. Not everything is exactly the same. I don't think they ever thought about mass murderers with semi-automatic weapons back then.

My question to everyone is this:

If I was president...and immediately banned ALL weapons.
Would that make you safer? I know its a theoretical question...

But I thought its a just question...

I can kill a man 15 different ways with a drinking straw.....16 if I leave the wrapper on

And the answer is no. Period.

Numbers alone say we would be safer. No Gun Shows. No Catalog purchases. No commercial sales. Guns would be antiques passed down instead of weapons sold on the corner.

Math says that we would be safer.

That's like Marxist Communism.....looks great on paper.

...which would be all fine and good if it wasn't for the fact that most guns used in crimes aren't legal anyway.
