Discussion: WikiLeaks

Elsberg was mentioned earlier in this thread, and now he has appeared in a radio interview with the BBC and is talking about WikiLeaks:

"That's a script that they role out every time there's a leak of any sort," he said.
It is not leaks, but "silences and lies" that put peoples' lives in danger, he believes.
You made it sound like everything is black and white, when in the case of intelligence and counter-intelligence, everything has a shade of grey. Those Afghans who worked with the US and got leaked by WikiLeak is a perfect example.
I you listen to Elsberg in the link I provided, he says that "Pentagon has admitted now that they cannot identify a single injury that has resulted from that leak."

I think he is the scariest of all the GOP contenders simply because his economic policy is the best.

...and once again his 'the US Constitution should reflect the Bible and not the will of the people' comment will be his downfall.

While that bothers me personally a great deal I am not sure how terminal that is to his chances.

There is obviously the hardcore Christian demographic who will love it, and that will help him in the GOP primary.

When it comes to the general primary, as bad as that quote is I don't think it's necessarily worse than Obama's record.

Huckabee could generate a Bloomberg-like third party candidate.

How the f*** is that even the same as exposing collaborators ? You do realize that the Taliban , what's left of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and the anti American warlords are going to torture the s*** out of these people and their families before they kill them right ? But I forgot the USA is scum and so are the people that work with them.:whatever:

Now now, quit all that logical thinking.

Yeah, because they were leaked all of 8 days ago. Takes that long for a message to get out of that part of the world, let alone all that data to get in. Once they sift through and find the names of the people involved, I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before Anti-American operatives get to them.

Makes me wonder if they shouldn't be allowed to come to the U.S., and immigrate.

Bank of America is next. Lets see if the 5 gigs of information gonna sink the company as he claims it will.

Some new Revelations from Wikileaks:

  • Iran attempting to adapt North Korean rockets for use as long-range missiles
  • Corruption within the Afghan government, with concerns heightened when a senior official was found to be carrying more than $50m in cash on a foreign trip
  • Bargaining to empty the Guantanamo Bay prison camp - including Slovenian diplomats being told to take in a freed prisoner if they wanted to secure a meeting with President Barack Obama
  • Germany being warned in 2007 not to enforce arrest warrants for US Central Intelligence Agency officers involved in an operation in which an innocent German citizen with the same name as a suspected militant was abducted and held in Afghanistan
  • US officials being instructed to spy on the UN's leadership by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • The very close relationship between Russian PM Vladimir Putin and his Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi
  • Alleged links between the Russian government and organised crime
  • Yemen's president talking to then US Mid-East commander General David Petraeus about attacks on Yemeni al-Qaeda bases and saying: "We'll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours"
  • Faltering US attempts to prevent Syria from supplying arms to Hezbollah in Lebanon

I completely agree with everything Marx has said on this.

Plus, the guy is a *****e and deserves to get his ass kicked. He's doing this for his own ego. As mentioned, he's no different than Perez Hilton or TMZ. Except he's leaking classified information, not stupid crap about celebrities.

I don't know who these sources are, but in the case of Bradley Manning, he should be executed. He's a solder in the Army and leaked classified military documents; that is treason.

Wooo dude, lets not get ahead of ourselves.... PEREZ HILTON. That's a different level of *****iness.

Matt made the comparison earlier in this thread about Julian Assange being the political version of Perez Hilton. I honestly see no better comparison. This guy is releasing classified documents the world over with little to no regard for anyone who gets hurt in the process. (Innocent civilians, diplomats, armed forces, etc.) I've said this before, and I'll say it again - there is a very clear difference between being a whistle blower, and being completely irresponsible with the information you have.

When it comes to the american sources for these leaks, I really do not see treason being out of the realm of charges.

It's a joke Marx :o

Kind of like, Satan's dream is to be an extra on Smallville. :woot:

The forensics of the Kennedy assassination prove that there had to have been more than one shooter...but that is wayyy off topic.

Yes, but even if there was, I'm convinced the government doesn't know who the **** the second shooter was.

Nope, having your son's head cut off by a serial killer, and turning that into a crusade for justice via television is about the closest thing you can do to becoming a real life superhero IMHO.

And yes, this guy is scum.

According to the AP, China has blocked the WikiLeaks website behind a firewall rendering access completely non-existent.

Unless if wikileaks confirms the NWO agenda is real, then...I don't care.

The cable complained that viewers were variously treated to the sight of Americans assassinating a Canadian prime minister, trying to steal Canadian water, being ordered to launch bombing raids in Canada, and persuading Canadians to vote in favor of being taken over by the United States.

...what?

As far as I'm concerned, the less secrets we have, the better.

I think Cablegate is the best thing thats happened to this country in a long time. It's rather sickening to hear people call for the guy's execution.

Heh. As a Canadian, I will admit there's some Anti-American stuff here. But it's mostly just joking and laughing at 'em. Make fun of Bush, American politics, stuff like that. And yes, we do have an Inferiority Complex. But we KNOW we're number 2 in North America. But we love the fact that we're kick your asses on issues like Gay Rights, Universal Health Care. Oh and, we're not one of the most hated countries in the world. Hooray! :awesome:

But I have never seen anything about Americans killing Harper. That's just crazy.
