Now, I'm throwing this out there because of 3 reasons.

1) after watching the Itunes clip, with Clark leaving the DP, and Flying through the elevator shaft and out to sea. I noticed that the music accompanying this clip is no where to be found on the score. It is basic slow build up to an '\s/' rip, but there is more build up in the harmony. This appears in other forms on the score, but we don't get this version.

2) after watching the scoring of the opening credits, there was short voice over from ottoman saying that the Williams score had so much good stuff in it that many of the cues were perfect for scenes in SR, and were used as such.

3) the score is approximately only 90 minutes (my count may be off), but that leaves an entire hour of the movie unscored, or with reused score... which doesn't seem quite right to me.

So... is the new score complete? Is it just the new stuff from the movie, not including what has been recycled from the Williams superman score? Or is it just a cheap marketing trick, where a substandard score is released first, with a more complete score being released at a later date?

Most soundtracks these days never release all the music from the movie, they only provide a selection of the score.

I know that, I'm trying to confirm it. Is this a ****ty selection, or is it complete?

It doesn't have every bit of music from the movie, no. Soundtrack releases rarely do.

i can definatly say this score is imcomplete but i still like it alot

They can't release a whole film's score because a CD can only hold 80 minutes of music. They could release a double-sided CD or two cd's like what they do for Games in Japan.

My STM score is two cds, and every bit of it is awesome... I hope they don't cheap out and not release a full score. And it doesn't have to be every single cue, but most of the music should be in there.

I'm just sayin because in the Clip where supes flies out of the elevator, that clip of music is awesome, from the build up to the \s/ rip, to him noticing the crack in the earth underground. I guess I just want more bits with the theme. It's gotta happen more than twice (really only here the theme twice in the score, outside of the march and finale.)

I bought the soundtrack from iTunes last week. If they release a new one, that means I'm going to have to drop more cash! Doh!

They made Ottman edit the score down to fit an hour long CD. So yes the cues and score is different from the actual film.

this theme of cutting things down seems to permeate SR. Good thing WB isn't a lumber company

I read that the Krypton theme is used a lot in the movie, but I didn't hear much of it in the score. I hope they release a full score, because the Krypton theme was my favourite among Williams' themes and I do want to hear more of its use by Ottman.

that's what I mean, probably the most moving of the themes from the original score, and it's used for was, 5, maybe even 10 seconds at best in the 'why did you leave us track'

The score was definitely cut down to fit the CD. Ottman mentioned on one of his interviews that Warner Brothers wanted to trim the score down to just 45 minutes, he wanted an hour. so we have just under an hour's worth of music from a movie thats 2 and a half hours long.

I'm still upset that the Kryton Theme is not in the movie...
(Theme in the Teaser)

maybe it's in the actual movie.

There is a subtle hint to it in the track Tell Me Everything...

I'm just gonna say, that after watching the movie, I'm extremely dissappointed with the soundtrack that was released. It's missing ALOT of good stuff, and hope that they release a more complete score in the future

Actually, it is. Have you seen the film yet?

At the absolute very beginning of the film is a new rendition of The Planet Krypton [the portion that was used in the teaser], complete with choir, as the camera essentially does a reverse of the opening shot of S:TM, pulling away from Krypton to show the planet silhouetted against the dying Red Sun.

I REALLY hope they release the full score, two good reasons [IMO] being the opening I described as well as the music from when Superman strides into the airplane cabin to make sure everyone...and specifically Lois...is alright. I'm fairly sure the music there was from the end of the "Fortress of Solitude" track in S:TM.

what track I want. After supes steps out of the plane, and the slow build up at the beginning of the march begins as the people in the stadium cheer louder and louder. That was a new arrangement of that peice of music... and would like that on a complete OST. Also, I'd like to have that last little 5-10 'superman saves the day theme' at the end of Rough Flight. The score music in that scene cuts out, just as people in the stadium notice the plane, and then a different arrangement begins as supes takes control of the plane, and puts it down on the field.

the OST they released is 1)incomplete 2) it's all chopped up and in different order (I hate that) 3)focuses too much on the new stuff that ottoman has done (which I give a 69% grade to) and doesn't give a true representative musical selection of the music in the actual movie.

My only gripe was that the main opening theme starts without a pre-lude which makes it feel like it sort of missed the mark since I liked the build up towards what you initially hear in the opening of the Superman Returns soundtrack.

It's good stuff nontheless though and it's fun to compare it to the first movie soundtrack to get a feel for both Williams and Ottman's styles where they are different and similar.

The soundtrack in the film is amazing, especially in the Superman/Lois flying scenes and at the end...wow.

It had much more of an impact for me than the original soundtrack.

OK..The Krypton thene WAS in the movie...
Now I'm happy...but I still wish it was on the soundtrack..
