so I've been reading some reviews that mention that there is a "hidden" scene after the credits, as well as a "joke" near the end of the credits.

for those who have seen the film, is any of that true? and could you please elaborate on both?

I don't mind spoilers.

There is an after credits stinger that is a cute throwaway joke.

Dug it alot. Not as much as Tangled. But I hold Tangled near the top of all Disney's animated library now.

Besides the stand out recurring songs I didn't really like the musical tracks. But otherwise, no complaints. Another great animated tale for Disney that fits in well amongst the classics.

This is my favorite film of the year. Anna is an all time heroine, the dialogue very sharp, the animation is gorgeous, the score great, the sisters are both all time Disney cuties [BLACKOUT]When Elsa lets her hair down, damn!!![/BLACKOUT], and Olaf is the funniest fool there has ever been. The writing definitely has a "Beauty and the Beast" favor as well. Beautifully plays with expectations.

thanks. does it involve Olaf or either of the princesses?

does it add anything to the story?

It is the resolution involving
Marshmallow, the giant snowman.

It is cute though.

Yep.

By the way, where is the petition to nomination Kristen Bell for an Oscar this year? She is amazing. "I was born ready". :lmao:

Oh, so they do resolve that. That was the big question leaving the theater for the family. I didn't think there would be one, so we left early. Could you tell me what the scene is exactly?

I love seeing reviews like this :D

I loved this movie. It was everything I was hoping it would be, and yes, the orchestral arrangement on "Let It Go" was a little different from the album, so that made me happy as well. While Idina was wonderful as Elsa, I really think this was Anna/Kristen Bell's movie as far as voice work goes. She was awesome. The only complaint I'd have is the troll song, which I thought was both weak and unnecessary. Otherwise, it was damn near perfect, and a new Disney classic for sure. 9/10

I'm gonna see this over the weekend. I loved Tangled and Wreck-it Ralph, and I've heard Frozen is almost, if not just as good as those two.

I really liked the short, though I grew up watching Goof Troop, so seeing Pete cast as such a clear villain always jars me a bit, even though that's been his primary character function through most of his history (Mickey's Christmas Carol was especially creepy for that same reason).

The movie was terrific, with the exception that the music still hasn't recaptured the glory of the 1990s -- Hercules, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas all have superb soundtracks, even though you can argue that this or Tangled have better storytelling/characterization. The new wave of 00s animated musicals generally manages one or two really strong songs (your "Friends on the Other Side" or "I See The Light"), the rest being functional (there's also the troll song, which I would have cut). Here, "Let It Go" is head and shoulders above everything else, and will probably make Robert Lopez an EGOT winner.

Idina Menzel's presence makes it hard not to think of Wicked throughout. Also, I don't get why you would cast Jonathan Groff and not give him any real songs.

Also I hope they exterminated those trolls afterward, because seriously, everything bad that happened in this movie was the result of their stupid advice.

If we are comparing it musically to The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin or The Lion King, I'd agree. However, I think it is musically far above Hercules, Mulan and Hunchback of Notre Dame. Notre Dame does have that epic "Bells" theme from the beginning, but the rest of the movie is Menken's most forgettable effort, IMO.

You might be right about Pocahontas. I don't care for that movie, but the music is amazing.

I agree that the trolls were the weakest part of this movie.

For anyone concerned about the marketing of frozen. They just sponsored a commercial break during the Macy day parade followed by a long commercial

Aw hell no. I love Hellfire, Out There, and Bells of Notre Dame! :argh:

Shorter rebuttal.

Long form:
In addition to "The Bells of Notre Dame", Hunchback has the epic "Hellfire", the best villain song ever (in my opinion), as well as the great crowd number "Topsy Turvy", the fairly good (even if derivative) "Out There", and "God Help the Outcasts". I think it's actually one of Menken's strongest and most interesting works, less the Gargoyles number.

Hercules' gospel-inspired score is a ton of fun, especially "Zero to Hero" and "I Won't Say I'm In Love".

Mulan has fewer songs, but "I'll Make A Man Out of You", "A Girl Worth Fighting For", "Reflection", "Honour to Us All" are all strong numbers to me.

Newman did decent on Princess and the Frog, though the only two that were really classic Disney were Friends on the Other Side and Dig a Little Deeper.

TOPSY TURVY!!!!

Yes, I love the Hunchback's soundtrack also love me some Reflection from Mulan that song set Aguilera's music career on track. Hercules' Go the Distance and I Won't Say I'm in Love are some of my personal favorites as well.

Yeah I honestly believe The Princess and the Frog has one of the weakest Princess soundtracks. Even Tiana's theme song, 'Almost There' wasn't all that great. I was kind of hoping the Prologue song would fit in there, though.

The evening star is shining bright,
So make a wish and hold on tight,
There's magic in the air tonight,
And anything can happen.

:(

"Friends on the Other Side" is the best thing Newman has done in a long time; it's bizarre to me that it wasn't one of the film's Oscar nominees, and then next year he won for "We Belong Together", which I suspect he scribbled on the back of a cocktail napkin.

Could you expand on this a bit? B&B is one of my all time favorites, so for you to name drop that catches my attention.

The relationship between Belle and the Beast, basically. Someone whose an adversary but not really.
