Disney's Tangled

I gotta say, the only thing I didn't like about this movie was the opening and closing narrations by Flynn.

The animation was beautiful though. I know a lot of people prefer the 2d animation, but if all of Disney's 3d looked like this, I'd be fine if it was all 3d. This movie actually made me kind of want re-rendered Disney classics, like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid and Aladdin

And yes, I am happy that Rapunzel's hair wasn't moving around like tentacles or anything.

didnt an early trailer for this have rapunzels hair acting like tentacles? i swear i remember seeing that and being disappointed but i saw the movie and she had regular (albeit super long) hair
The tentacle hair was only in the teaser trailer. Over at cgsociety someone who worked on the film said that tentacle hair sequence was only made as test that made it into the marketing.

Watched it. Loved every second of it. Maximus and Pascal were awesome.

guess im not the only one who wants to see the same thing. Aladdin rendered with this look would look absolutely amazing.

^ Wouldn't surprise me if Disney did something like that to make some extra cash.

I don't think the technology exists to just "convert" like that yet, though. But I'm not gonna lie, I totally agree with you guys that it could be pretty cool. I wonder how The Lion King (my fave) would look...I can't even imagine it, tbh. Could be a disaster. But with the CGI water FX today, The Little Mermaid could look glorious.

I have to admit that I didn´t expect the movie to amazing but damn, it was that good.
The animation was spectular and the sequence with the lanterns was simply breathtaking.
Rapunzel and Flynn were very likable but Pascal and Maximus stole the show for me.
This is a fun and entertaining for the family. I definitely recommend Tangled. 5/5

You'd have to do it from scratch, there's no way you could convert a 2D animated film into 3D animation. Admittedly it would be cool to see those film 3D-ified, Mermaid and Lion King could look awesome, but there's something a bit tacky and disrespectful about doing it.

i dont see how its disrespectful. it could be a great way for the newer generation of kids who didnt grow up in the time that these movies were released to see them and feel the way we did when we first saw them.

btw, isnt The Lion King actually coming out in 3D in 2012? for the movie´s anniversary or something like that?

A 3D version is in works but no release date has been announced yet.

Or we could just show them the versions that are currently there. Converting a traditional animated film to an updated CGI animated film is a total slap in the face to the artists who spent countless hours working on those masterpieces.

not true at all. its like adapting anything, you will always have the original there. its not going anywhere and you can own and enjoy both versions. i LOVE the Disney Renaissance films but after seeing Tangled id love to see them redone in that style because I truly believe they will look beautiful. it doesnt change the fact that i will still love the hand drawn animation ones.

I honestly can't see why anyone would want to see these movies fully shot-by-shot remade like this. I mean, is there something wrong with them now? To show them to the next generation...is the next generation really that frightful or spiteful or disinterested or all of these that they can't watch the films as is? They came out as 2D films, they don't even need to be remade with 3D effects...it just seems so...unnecessary. This isn't the Disney Renaissance, let this age have their own films created in their own ways.

I'm completely addicted to the soundtrack right now...

Ditto. I gotta say, I wish they'd done a fully fleshed-out and longer version of "Healing Incantation." It's such a beautiful little melody, and it suits Mandy Moore's voice really well, imo.

And some things should remain untouched. Those films are works of art and it would be a slap in the face to everyone who worked on them if they were 3D-ized just so Generation Pixar can watch them. If they were to do a new version of Beauty or Aladdin that's CGI but is a completely new take on the story, then they can knock themselves out, but a shot for shot remake of the originals in CGI is just down right disrespectful.

This. Some things really should be left untouched.

:whatever:

So because we would like to see some of the original movies redone in the art style of this movie, it's ruining it?

I don't think anyone here seriously wants a remake of the movie just so we could have it in the same style. You guys are really reading too far into it.

The original movies are fine the way they are. There's no need to re-do them for the sake of seeing them with computer animation.

why not? what's the harm?

So, I guess the counter is, 'what's the point'? It's like asking for a shot-by-shot remake of a black and white film just for the sake of seeing it in color. It's just...why?

:hrt:Rapunzel has some big old manga eyes!:hrt:

Manga eyes? You mean Disney eyes. Which manga eyes are based on.

Her face made me keep thinking of Susan from Monsters vs Aliens for some reason. I think it was the huge eyes.
