Which Alcalde did you guy prefer in the NW show? There was Ramone and De Soto. Both were very good.I think I tend to lean towards Ramone though.

I prefer De Soto but Ramon is cool

I noticed something strange about Disney's Zorro!

The characters in it have fathers, but what happened to their mothers? I can't remember a single character with a mother in it...weird.

Like'em both. Too bad the Guy William's DVD collection is so pricey.

I really hope swashbuckling in general never dies!

Thanx, was time to show Duncan some well deserved love than just Williams,Plus I think it's a great pic anyway

Duncan Regehr was a great Dracula as well...

(And he also played Errol Flynn in a tv movie)

Yeah, it's crazy. Why did they have to make it a limited edition? I pre-ordered it.

By the way, I like your signature.

Thanks!!!

I hope the price for Disney's Zorro DVD series drops considerably if there are plans for another release. I expect it around $80, no more than $90 per season.

Yeah, me too. I have the entire series, but I want everyone to see it:woot:

Today I watched THE THREE SWORDS OF ZORRO (1963) starring Guy Stockwell. Any one else seen this one? The DVD transfer was pretty bad (the disc cost a dollar) and the movie itself was fair. What's funny is, there is a decent amount of similarities between this and the first Banderas one.

Haven't watched it, but if you recommend it I'll watch.

I wouldn't recommend it to the casual movie watcher....but to someone who is a fan of the Zorro character, it's worth seeing. The copy I have is blurry, has sound issues, and sometimes the dubbing (It was originally in Spanish even though the main star is American) is bad. You have appearances by multiple Zorro's (hence the title), and as said earlier, it seems it could have been a partial template for the Banderas movie (a guy is Zorro for years, the main bad guy attacks his family, he languishes in prison for years until the new Zorro breaks him out).

What did you guys think of the movies with Banderas?
The first one was excellent to me. One of the best Zorro movies made. I really love it. The second one was OK. Not as bad to me as many others proclaim, but nothing spectacular. I have watched it a few times, but nowhere as many as the first one.

I like both, but the first will always be the best. Watched it first when I was ten years old.

The sequel wasn't as bad as the critics said. It was very entertaining and fun. It had a different tone from the first, though.

I find Legend of Zorro very underrated..But not the quality of Mask of Zorro,Mask is pretty much my overall favorite Zorro film

Some didn't like Banderas in the role but I thought he was perfect for it at the time,I wish he played Diego though like him as De La Vega in both films and then as an older Diego in a third film as he mentors a new Zorro(someone like Gael Garcia Bernal)

When it comes to Zorro movies, I like The Mark of Zorro from 1940 best. The swordfight at the end is fantastic. There's no big stunts with people jumping around, just two men with their feet on the ground, fencing...and the only music is the sound of clashing blades:word:

The silent movie with Fairbanks is also great. It's always fun to watch him in action, he's like a cat (sorry, fox!). I like the sequel too, it's even better. I would probably rate the Zorro movies this way:

1. The Mark of Zorro (1940)
2. The Mask of Zorro
3. Don Q, Son of Zorro
4. The Mark of Zorro (1920)
5. Zorro, The Gay Blade
6. The Legend of Zorro
7. Zorro (Alain Delon)

Still haven't watched The Bold Caballero or the serials, though:woot:

Have you seen the Frank Langella TV movie? It's good (follows the Tyrone Powere movie's storyline pretty closely) but suffers from low TV budget....and having Ricardo Montalban as the bad guy helps.
