Which store has the best deal for this movie?

Maybe they wanted the movie to be taken more seriously so they altered it to get rid of the lulz factor.

Perhaps. The funniest line of the movie doesn't seem to funny. When he says I'd never have sex with a fooking creature!

Did anyone notice the typo on the back of the dvd box ''He will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on hour own planet''

Did anyone find this movie to be really overrated . The First twenty - thirty minutes were just awful . I couldn't take none of the character seriously .

I watched this movie for the first time since the cinema on blu-ray, and wow, just wow, there has been some great films this year, but non of them, even Moon and IB (havent seen Avatar yet), two stunning films are no wear near as good as D9 for me, magical, magical movie that I will be watching over and over, and all for only $30 million, stunning.

Just saw this yesterday...thought it was just alright...it was pretty sad, but I was dissapointed that the director thought he "needed" a big action sequence in the third act...thought the ending could of been done better...

Blasphemy, that last shot was perfectly poignant.

Naw...I really liked that too, the very end was nice, I was talking about "ending" as in last like 30 mins when it was just all just "action".

Heh, really, I have the movie on Blu-ray and it doesn't have that typo

Well, I didnt mind because it was one of the best action sequences ever, not to mention its the moment when Wikus truly becomes a hero and realises there are bigger things going on than him turning into a prawn. The emotion that action scene evokes is what makes it so amazing for me.

True, but I just wasn't feeling those turn of events...I might needa watch it again...

For me it was the core of the movie, Wikus up until then was quite an unpleasent person and did some questionable things, but he realised at the right moment that there was more to just his story and a sacrifice was required. The prawns were a people who had been wronged earlier on but it wasnt until the end that he decided he could do something about it.

i read a user review for District 9 on amazon and all i got to say is wow

*/***** Overhyped

This movie was such a let-down when we saw it in the theater this past year. Talk about being completely over-hyped and underwhelming. While the special effects were great and the sound was fantastic, both of which you would expect from WETA and Jackson, the film itself was just far too bland to be enjoyable.

Problems we had with it:
- The main character was a dud. Nothing was exciting about this guy. He was just a nerd whose life was ultra boring and we found the over focus on this aspect of the story to go on seemingly forever.
- The aliens, while looking very interesting, were anticlimactic. I suppose it is the scenario that they are put in for the movie but I found them to be very uninteresting. Too little focus on their origin, technology, etc.
- Very off-balanced mix of action and storytelling.
- Too much time in the movie where nothing significant happens - i.e. just too much 'filler' content that isn't significant.

Flashy graphics and special effects and Jackson's name just aren't enough anymore to make a movie a hit. While we love his past work, he needs to do better than this to impress us.

^Oh well, i'm sure he enjoyed X-Men 3, he can watch that while I watch a movie so superior it actually physically hurts me to know they both exist!
