its nice to see it up for best picture, D9 deserves it

^Definately deserves best picture if you ask me, but dont think it will win.

True, but would have loved it to win as well, oh well, still the best of 2009 for me.

yea i really want to see a scifi film to win it, either D9 or AVATAR

there is zero chance of D9 winning. not even 1 %.

there are rules for oscars.

I'm just pleased that we have two sci-fi movies period in the best pic category after nearly 27 years and with D9 one that isn't exactly family friendly as STAR WARS, ET and AVATAR were/are.

Long may the Academy, hopefully, continue to be this open-minded in the future.

That was great.

While I find a lot of what Neill said was interesting. I find it hard to believe that other more advanced alien civilazations don't exist because they haven't achieved singularity.

Not all alien creatures like humans desire expansion and domineering.

This and Inglourious Basterds are still the best films of 2009. I just saw Avatar and I liked, It that same feeling that Titanic had. You just want to wait to see the big pay off; in Titanic it was the ship sinking and in Avatar it was big battle scene.

Yeah, its probably got zero chance of winning, even though its the most deserving movie to be nominated IMO, probably too many things going against it to win.

but do we even need a nomination for this movie?
the important thing is that we like it right? :yay:

Hi, I have made a system, to help me give a honest and strait rating to a movie, so I’m rating all the movies I have seen with it. Let’s see what we have here:

Acting: 8/10
Script: 8/10
Directing: 8/10
Visual stile (Art, costumes, cinematography, etc): 9/10
Music: 5/10

Overall: 7.6/10

honestly, i couldn't even finish this movie. it was just really, really, REALLY bad to me. i was super disappointed.

Of course Dark B, but its so nice to see a movie I find so awesome nominated for an Oscar, this is slowly climbing up my favourite movies ever list, will never reach the top, there are too many classics there, but its getting pretty damn high.

I finally saw this movie & I LOVED it. Great movie, I give it a 9/10.

Can't wait for a possible sequel, though it's not necessary.

^I personally think it is necessary, I want to see Wikus's journey continue, there are so many possibilities of things that can happen during that 3 years and also when Christopher Johnson returns, there were so many questions left unanswered I hope Blomkamp comes back and addressed them.

Plus it would be awesome to see an army of exo-suits against MNU tanks, etc :cwink:.
