yeah sure the guy who was nominated 2 times for an academy award and won one of them is the weak link.... you guys are ridiculous..

// nice choice with russell though..

Halle Berry has an oscar too.

Did that make her the best actress for Storm or Catwoman?

Russell is a great replacement. Should be glorious. I'm imagining a very B Movie cheesy performance from this kind of character. With Costner too. Just a sadistic **** times 10 Tarantino style is that gets anything across.

Too bad, would've liked to have seen Costner in a role waaaay outside his element. Still though, Russel is an awesome replacement.

I'm hoping Jamie Foxx is replaced somehow. IMO he is the only weak link.

same here. i don't like him. i wish the part would have gone to Terrence Howard or Idris Elba.

anyway, Kurt Russell is awesome and a damn fine replacement for Costner. i definately approve this move :word:

Idris Elba would have been a really good choice.

Tarantino can make anyone look cool and worthwhile. (Travolta)

You do realize Tarantino always makes his casting choices quirky or the least expected. Elba or some other angry looking black dude would have been too on the money for QT. He never goes with the obvious.

Wasn't Foxx his third of fourth choice, behind Smith, Howard, and Elba ?

We know for a fact that Will Smith was his first choice. And I could've sworn that he approached Terrence Howard and Idris Elba before Jamie Foxx. But I could be wrong. I know Elba couldn't do it because of his commitment to GDT's Pacific Rim. And I think the general consensus is that Will Smith either A) wasn't being offered what he wanted, or B) got cold feet.

I hate Terrence Howard, so I couldn't care less what his reasons were :o.

It was on yahoo news when Foxx was cast for this he was his like his fourth choice if I remember correctly.

I still can't believe Will Smith turned this down. I thought he wanted an Oscar. :o

He probably wasn't down with playing a slave in a semi blaxploitation manner. He's kind of iffy about that type of role.

would have been interesting with Will.. maybe he and QT can do something else.. Sam Jackson, as a villain, overseer.. hmm..

I wonder will Tarantino go n-word happy with the script, possibly the only thing holding it back.. it's already a fantasy-revenge scenario to begin with, they don't have to burden it with the "this is how everybody talked back then" rationale.. :cmad:

I read the script.

The n-word is.... abundant.

It's good, but I wouldn't expect much support for it come Oscar time. The material is just too controversial.

At best, I see it polarizing audiences/critics. You're either going to love it or hate it.

This movie was way too risky for Will Smith. He's pretty much the opposite of Dicaprio.

I can see a lot of people hating this one. White people because it comes off as a black empowerment thing, black people because of....everything else. Asians and latinos will just sit back and watch it.

I honestly think Christoph Waltz is going to be the one to get the most praise from this film.
