...sleep? Or have a time when they power down for a while?

...talk in their vehicle modes? I noticed they didn't do it in the movie, but if I remember correctly (and keep in mind its been a couple of decades since I watched one) they were able to talk in either vehicle or robot mode in the cartoons.

>^..^<

the decepticons spoke to each other in their vehicle modes, but they were speaking cybertronian so i don't know if that counts. but yeah, they do talk while in their alt forms in the cartoon.

does Batman sleep? does Superman sleep? does Spider-Man sleep?

exactly...hehe

You're comparing apples and baseballs. Batman, Superman and Spiderman are all organic beings that need to sleep every once and a while. The Transformers are sentient robots so my questions still stands. Do they shut down for a time to recharge?

No i think he addressed it quite well actually. If they do "sleep" it's not really an integral part of the story telling. That's all that matters. Of course Superman sleeps, but no one cares so we don't see that... A better question is, why does it matter if they "sleep"?

Well they do pass out when they get drunk on energon so my guess is they do go into some sort of shut down mode.

i dont know why people just can't just answer the poster's question without making some lame remark like "does it matter, or does superman sleep?"
i don't know much about transformers as i never really got into the cartoon when i was a kid, so im kind of curious about the answer too.

I don't know why some people can't comment without calling other people's comments lame. That's the answer we gave, if you are not satisfied with it i'm sorry. But it honestly doesn't matter if they sleep or not. I'll quote myself "If they do "sleep" it's not really an integral part of the story telling. That's all that matters." If they recharged or "slept" and that somehow affected a story arc or something, someone let me know. Does anyone know if Batman prefers all-beef franks? I honestly would like to know... :oldrazz:

i think the original poster knows it's not an integral part of the story telling and that it won't have any affect on the story...so what?...it's still a question. if you don't know the answer, why try to dismiss the question with a lame answer? either you can answer the question or you can't. that's all im saying.

Don't avoid the real question, man.

The real question is...do Transformers f**k? :o

The thing is, if its not an integral part of the story, it may not have been covered at all in the stories, meaning no one would know.... I'm hoping someone can come in here and prove me wrong so I can meet my quota of 5 "lame" comments in one post. It's my goal to have every post I make considered "lame".

Loathus pretty much said what i was gonna say. they're fictional characters that are mostly associated with action. when was the last time you saw an action hero eat, sleep, or take a dump? it's a fair question but one i wouldn't spend too much time pondering on....if you do, the illusion of these characters falls apart.

here's why...it's because this is a board where posters are free to express themselves however they like as long as they're not spamming or trolling. i was joking when i made that post...you don't have to be ugly about it, calling it "lame".

Sorta like wondering if the Thing's dork is made of rock, or if Superman blows windows out when he farts. Valid questions, but unecessary.

I would say that they prob have some standby mode when they chill.

*bangs head against desk a few times*

Jeez Louise, is it really that hard of a question to answer?

Ok, here's the reason I'm asking it, I'm thinking of writing an Ironhide fanfiction but I need to know if he shuts down since I want something to happen around him while he's shut down. It's called research. If you don't know the answer, then please don't post, especially if it's completely irrelevant to the thread.

It's fairly obvious from reading that no one knows for sure, for the reasons stated many times above. I think if you use that as a part of you fan fiction no will will throw it in your face.

considering there's no version of Transformers that's really fleshed out enough to be considered "cannon" i don't see why you couldn't incorporate that in your fan-fiction. after all...it's FAN-fiction, you can put whatever you damn well want in there. :)

as for people not posting...sorry if you're getting frustrated with the non-answers but if you can develop a thick skin then those types of answers won't bother you so much. plus, like i said....i was only joking.

i think probably in the sequel when the plot becomes more about tapping earth's resources, we'll be able to find out.

it's a fair question.

the terminator doesn't need to sleep, his cells last his whole life time.

who knows if its the same for a transformer or whether or not they need to 'rest' or charge themselves.
