Do we always need to point out the shortcomings of others?

Like the FHM? or the Female respect thread?

I don't remember which thread exactly, but I did see recently [I'll keep her username quiet so as not to open up any more harassment] where she went into a thread and said something that seemed out of context or uneducated [I'm not quite sure to be honest, I don't believe I knew much about the subject myself] and all the guys began poking fun at her about it, almost getting a little out of hand.

@kainedamo: I'm with you that there's nothing wrong with flirting, but some of the guys on here are relentless. I think there's a fine line between flirting, and needing to get out of your house and hit the local bar.

And I've seen a number of users here who vault over that line as if it were nothing.

On this messageboard, I haven't really seen that to be honest.

But I have seen the unrelenting sort of Internet bullying you speak of. Some of the guys here are like vultures, and once one guy gets a dig in, they all for some reason feel like they have to get their pot shots in too. They need to get out more.

Yeah, because pointing out that some guy's being an idiot really reflects our success with girls.

Have you noticed people don't get dog-piled on repeatedly if they don't constantly say stupid things?

There's no need for it some of the time. There are guys that mock, and are very funny about it and very witty. And then there are guys, always the same ones by the way, who are just malicious, and repeatidly malicious, and they gang up. It is no different from playground bullying. And I do just think to myself when I see it that these guys are losers and have worse issues than me.

If that helps you sleep at night.

The reason I personally criticize people like that is because it gets on my nerves just how idiotic people are getting these days. They just seem to be getting dumber and dumber and dumber, and it's hard to not comment on it. Plus, there are certain posters that make thread after thread full of completely *****etastic self-righteous proclamations, and for some reason act completely taken aback when people point out how moronic and tactless they're being. Those kinds of people are especially hard not to insult.

Well Calvin, life is a learning experience for all of us. And one of the things I have learned is, you need to sort of realise that resorting to personal insults, especially over some really petty ****, only makes yourself look worse.

You need to be the better man.

Sometimes I resort to personal insults myself. But not to the extent of some posters. Some posters resort to name calling far quicker than others. Just because you call someone an idiot doesn't mean that you are right or that you are any better. In fact from my personal experience, the quicker a person is willing to resort to personal insults for no reason the worse of a person that person is.

I don't resort to personal insults, I toss them in as I'm making my point. There's a huge difference.

Not really, Calvin.

Calling someone stupid isn't smart, funny, witty, or anything. And it does nothing to further your point. In fact it only makes yourself look bad. It doesn't matter if the stuff you're saying around the insult is smart, the insult itself is still an insult.

If you are being baited, or have already been flamed, its understandable that you'd resort to personal insults in those kinds of instances.

But what I find is that back and forth flaming only fuels more flaming, and then you have a never ending argument thats just a pain in the ass that could last for hours. Its a waste of time and gives you a headache. Well, it gives me a headache anyway. So I've decided to take a more relaxed approach. I don't like slanging matches where everyone wants the last word.

Wrong. As long as the point surrounding your insults is smart, the insult itself is no longer just an insult. It combines for effect. And as long as you're right in the argument, and the other person is wrong as well as clearly being idiotic in his arguments, insulting him doesn't make you look bad.

And a side note, saying "It only makes yourself look bad" has never, in the history of arguing, ever made anyone feel bad.

We'll agree to disagree. But I suggest you have alot to learn.

Coming from you, that means a lot. And by "means a lot," I mean "makes me laugh a lot at the irony of it all."

Since we've had this shifted into a new thread, in response to the chosen title, I think for the sake of cultural improvement, pointing out the intellectual shortcomings of others is extremely important, and necessary.

It's the way of human life.

It's the same reason Adam and Even were forced to be scared of their nude majas.

Seems to me like you guys just caught feelings. If you're really that bothered by the postings of an anonymous poster on the internet, than I can't really say anything about that other than get over it.

After 8 years on the internets, I've learned 1 thing.

TALK

IS

CHEAP.

Meaning quite frankly everybody's got a big mouth online but probably lack the same linguistic freedom in the real world.

Cuz out there being a dick can get you killed. Online it's safe to be a dick. Nice and cozy at the computer with your warm cup of cocoa and your teddybear trying to play the big shot online... Anyone who's played an online game knows what i'm talking about. There's always one dick enjoying his anonymity to the fullest.

Thank goodness for pain. It's definitely deterrent to that kind of behavior. Someone should invent a way to shock people through the internet.

Anyone who feels they've been bullied by me on the internet is free to come to my apartment at 176 Jefferson Avenue Apt. 2, Brooklyn, NY, 11216. I'll insult you just as much in person.

Exactly.

Then there's the one who still says, "No, I'd do the same thing in person," but is really quite afraid of saying anything out of line...

Or just THINKS they're a hotshot in person as well.

If your feelings are easily hurt then the internet is not for you....frankly life is not for you, only course of action is to shoot yourself.:o

I pick on you all, because I really am your superior...

....It's all with Love I swear

Kind of like what you're doing right now?:o

You mentioned in another thread recently that you got fed up with people "bullying" you before you changed names and went crazy or something. Mind if I ask what your old name was?
