Transformers bought out Gobots (Tonka) I want to say in the early ninties (if not sooner) thus eliminating their competition. Ever since they've been re-assigning Gobots to different lines, in this case a Preschool line for toodlers.

Super Gobots were the only Gobots that didn't totally suck. I liked the way that their heads were like cockpits for human drivers.

Well, OK the six enemy monster GoBots that combined to form the "Giant Monsterous" were pretty cool too:

BTW the original Japanese name of this monster robot was "Devil Satan 6". Too bad Tonka didn't decide to keep that name when the toy was imported to the US, eh?
