I feel your pain. Still, no Marvel movie has really gotten the villain's "look" 100% right ( I think Magneto and Doc Ock pulled it off the best) so them changing Abomination shouldn't come as a surprise.

Ock looled a lot better than I thought he would. If they gave a (reasonable) reason why they changed the look or said a new villan besides Abomy, I'd be fine with that. But the reason they gave is lame.

I don't really mind them calling it the Abomination, I do mind that reasoning though. Rather than say "It won't work." Please... for once can a director / writer just be honest and say "I changed it because I wanted to"? I mean sure fans will still be mad, but at least they'd be honest.

Yeah, I guess that would be ok as well. But leave Abmoy for a sequel. He's to classic a character. Kinda like the Absorbing Man

Absorbing Dad, Azombination... -sigh- it seems as though Hulk foes are far more likely to be tampered with than any other.

I think the reason is, although they are classic to us. They are not as recognized by the general public, so the film makers don't expect a horrendous backlash.

Fans of the Green Goblin, Venom, Doctor Doom, Galactus, the Kingpin, Bullseye and/or Blackheart may disagree with you on that one.

EmeraldBeast just saw the first official trailer at the New York Toy Fair, and said (in between OMFG!s) that Abomination doesn't resemble the silly toy we've seen online. Rather, the film's Abby looks "awesome" and "scary" (I'm paraphrasing).

No word on the ears, though... So feel free to continue eviscerating each other.

Well I've give you Galactus and Blackheart, but I simply meant changed to the point where they are not even the same character anymore.

I thought Doc Doom and Venom visually looked good, well atleast doom did in the second film, the personalities for both though.....meh.

For the most part, the Marvel villains are all at least recognizable ... except for in the Hulk movies (Galactus being a major exception).

I will hold off on my final judgement until I at least see some action in a trailer.

Well... no... it does RESEMBLE it, he said that they toy didn't do it JUSTICE meaning... probably same design, but the toy is just no where near as cool.

Ah, I see... I suppose I was feeling sorta glib earlier (I dunno why). You're more nuanced reading is probably closer to the truth. Thanks for keeping me in-check.

are you chitin me mang!he saw the trailer? When is he gonna post about it?
is this for real reel, not for play play?

It's just what I thought, along with many others. Seeing it onscreen is much more impressive then seeing a crap quality picture of a toy.
He should have pants.
I wish someone more descriptive then EB had seen the trailer/teaser.

Well he says there is ears but not big

I saw this pic and thought i'd post it. It's a megablok of Abomination...and he looks far darker and greenish than the original figure we saw from the other figure.

Think of it what you will. :yay:

It looks like some Resident Evil Zombie.

Christ..they aint seriously making him naked are they?

IMO, translations don't work in films, only when the audience doesn't accept or believe that this is a serious world to all of a characters existing in said world. When the world that the characters are living in is real to those characters, the audience will accept it, this is why campy humor is out of the question. Thus if gamma radiation science and it's effects are real to the Marvel Universe characters and portrayed as such in the movie, they can make any reality they want in film.

The people behind these types of films need to read this over and over again until it sinks in their brains. Along with other minutae and such, it is a critical element that the so called "people who know better" fail to get right time and time again. Eventually leading to the producers of such films to fallback on "old reliable"; god forsaken "realism" in comicbook movies.

IT'S DAMN FANTASY! STOP TRYING TO TAKE IT OUT THE WORLD FOR WHICH IT WAS INTENDED!! THE MATERIAL IS SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND YOU GET THE FEELING THAT THE PEOPLE MAKING THE FILM IS MORE THAN FAMILIAR WITH THE MATERIAL!!

It irks me endlessly to see such small thinking with these films. The lack of creativity, imagination and vision is simply stunning--I don't get it; is there a lack of directors capable of handling such films or something? There are millions of readers who grew up on this stuff. There has to be more than a few directors who were readers themselves and actuall know, understand and have the creativity to bring the material to the big screeen as intended, plus/minus the usual changes or two.

Argghhh!!

Told you to not think that he was going to be any different from the figure.

And out of all things to complain about.... the nakedness is not one I'd focus on. Abomination was our old scaled faced friend in "Ultimate Destruction" but was naked, and not once did I really stop look at the screen and go "OMG, HE'S NAKED!!! UGH, Ruined." :oldrazz:

In any case, that mega block is the most hilarious piece of plastic I've ever seen.

Though I'll agree with you on the realism aspect, (hence my disdain for the Nolan-verse of Batman) and the fact he shouldn't have been changed... I am quite enjoying the first draft of the script far more than Ang's film. I wouldn't say theres a lack of creativity in it.

Though, truly there are many references to Bruce Jones' run. (Being on the run, meditation.)

So once again I'll ask since I have not read past "Return of the Monster" (which I enjoyed.) Yet no body ever seems to want to answer me... What do fans hate about Bruce Jones, so that I don't waste my money on the other volumes?
