Maybe not having yet aNOTHER origin story but just a Superman movie set in modern times?

Do you think after SR bombed they'll think twice about hiring bryan singer back?

At the moment it seems like Bryan Singer will do the sequel but everything could happen, you know?

Let's see. $270 million dollar budget, grossed $391 million overseas. Grossed $53 million in rentals. Exactly where in your mind is it that this movie was a bomb?

Besides, there are only a hundred million threads about this reboot, which won't and shouldn't happen.

Close/delete/ban/castrate.

That's what all us 'haters' are hoping...

The reason that this movie didn't do well is that to a lot of people, It wasn't a Superman movie without Reeves.
For gods sake NO REBOOT we don't need to see the origin again.

the reason it bombed was because it was rubbish

and its a piss take when spiderman 3 has made 400 million worldwide in 4 days when superman returns took more than 8 months to make just 391 worldwide

pitiful

and a domestic gross of 201 on a budget of 270 is a failure,

it failed domestically,
to the studio, that is all the counts

if it had made 500 million from overseas, maybe then the failure of the domestic gross would have been offset,

but it failed both domestically and overseas

pathetic

WB may not have a choice after Spiderman 3. Feel sorry for BJR who is caught in the middle.

if WB still thinking to make BIG money outta superman, firing singer is the only way to go.
keeping him and continue SR will only bring all the bad buzz and bad experience people had into the next movie.

anyway, singer isn't a good in making action & sci-fi-genre movie. if he made another superman movie, it would only be another below average movie. bear in mind, he can't copy STM anymore.

so, i really hope to see singer got fired.

still a superman fan.

This movie did NOT bomb. Good grief, be accurate in your statements, even if you hate the movie!

i hate bryan singer
he is such a hack
he ruined the x-men franchise

bryan is still on board and he is talking about how he wants to make it all action packed now CUZ HE KNOWS HE MADE THE FIRST ONE A SNOOZER!!!!

I'll never watch another movie by bryan singer ever ever ever again
Not just because he completely ruined the x-men franchise but because he is an unpatriotic jerk who also took pictures of underage boys

That does sound like a bomb to me!
The movie cost 270million to make, market, and all that Jazz... Knowing what we know in Hollywood for this movie to TURN a profit!

The movie would have had to have made double it's budget world wide atleast!

Maybe a bit more since studios get less $ from theaters overseas... But unless this movies brought in a good 575-650 million in revenue.
It did not... So then it's a flop, a bomb, a disaster!

$391+$53 = $444 million and some change... In other words the movie was about a good $200 / $250 million short of turning a profit, and that's with dvd rentals.

How did you manage to pull so much out of your ass?

LOL Fried Gold. But I mainly wanted to say I love your Dalek Avatar. Are you British? Just curious.

Maybe they'll do a reboot in 20 years. Assuming the human race and civilisation is still around.

Those are accurate figures. The figures don't lie. That said, a bomb is Stealth, or Hudson Hawk. Superman Returns was a dissapointment. No defender can truthfully disagree. It missed the estimates by about $200 million.

It's not worth a sequel for WB. Breaking even is a waste of time. If they couldn't bring in people with all the hype for SR, what would change for a sequel. Plus, there is a negative buzz about the film to begin with. It's a forgotten film.

There will be a reboot. The question is whether it will be after the first sequel or if it will be a while after the third sequel.

IMO the SR franchise may have one last shot. If Singer ups the action, makes a great film, and the general audience is captured better... Then we can talk a 3rd one and if that happens a reboot will be a looooong while off.

For the record if there is a reboot I want a NEW origin told. Sure you have the basic elements that Clark was Kal-el sent from Krypton to be saved... Martha and Jonathan then raise him... Other than that, a lot could be written differently. I would take a look at what would work for a modern Superman with a modern audience while not treading too much on what has been done. If anything I would take elements from the comics and TAS. That has been the most universally accepted form of Superman.

Reboot? Wasn't SR the reboot...I don't think they will do another origin story or any of that. It would be a waste of time. It may have not shattered box office records, but it didn't do aweful enough to do another origin/reboot movie...
Someone pointed out that SM3 did that much in 3 days, and let me tell ya SM3 was no glorious piece of work neither. It had alot of holes in its perverbial blockbuster armor, but thats another thread, and another argument.
I'd rather them do another sequel, then do the Batman v. Superman movie like they thinking of doing. I thought I read somewhere that after both franchises get 2 movies under their belts they would try to do bat v. supes movie......

An origin story would have captured the general audience better imo.

I personally think they should give Bryan Singer another chance.Because by firing him,and restarting the franchise WB will just be saying they think they made a mistake and hope to fix it.The only way they could possibly wipe the slate clean is a restart in about 5 or so years. You don't have to retread the origin just yet, just use a new universe.I personally might enjoy a reboot with the full fledged origin story in maybe 10 years or so.As much as people love the Donner film(me included),the origin needs to be redone eventually, because I'm in high school and alot of people around my age refuse to watch the Reeves films because of the dated effects,I grew up watching them so I love them, but most teens and younger people don't know the Donner film, and don't want to watch it.The origin needs to be redone someday.

If there is a reboot it's only worth it if they restart the origin. They can implement a plot device during Krypoton scenes with a younger Jor-el that affects Kal-el in the future on Earth.
