Redo the origin, but not necessarily as detailed, nor in a linear storytelling fashion.

Redo the origin MORE detailed. Time on Krypton with a younger Jor-el seperating from past incarnations. I would have 20-25 minutes leading up to Kal-el being sent to earth. I would have a full lively city with the red tones ala TAS version. Then I would spend another 15-20 minutes in SV up to where Clark decides to go to Metropolis to find a job. Leaving both parents alive ala Lois & Clark. He would decide to become Superman while in Metropolis. Yeah I'd have him in the glasses before he goes there. Maybe Jonathan would tell him as a youth with all those special powers he should look less conspicuous and that's where he gets the habit of wearing them err something.

Anyways I'd make seeing Superman again for the first time a moment you wait for but when it comes his rescue is huge. Like 25-30 minutes of Superman for the first film. Also set up relationships with the main characters Lane, White, and Olsen amongst it all.

I agree on much of that.

I personally think they should give Bryan Singer another chance.Because by firing him,and restarting the franchise WB will just be saying they think they made a mistake and hope to fix it.The only way they could possibly wipe the slate clean is a restart in about 5 or so years. You don't have to retread the origin just yet, just use a new universe.I personally might enjoy a reboot with the full fledged origin story in maybe 10 years or so.As much as people love the Donner film(me included),the origin needs to be redone eventually, because I'm in high school and alot of people around my age refuse to watch the Reeves films because of the dated effects,I grew up watching them so I love them, but most teens and younger people don't know the Donner film, and don't want to watch it.The origin needs to be redone someday.

Anyone who doesn't want to watch the Donner/Reeve movie's should be executed!

The fx back then don't matter even tho yes the movie looks very dated now a days! Chris Reeve alone makes each one of those movies worth watching! Because regardless of the movie or story in the movie his performance was always top notch, and worth every penny!

I don't believe they'll reboot the franchise. SR was successful, regardless of the dumbass math some fans try to fart out.

And everyone crying for a reboot seems to be seriously kidding themselves. Do you honestly think that a reboot won't feature Lex? Do you honestly think we'll get anything fresh? No, we'll get an origin story and tread over the same ground we've been over before. SR reintroduced Superman to the moviegoing public and like it or not, a sequel is the best chance we have at seeing something fresh, like Brainiac, Metallo, etc.

I think there is a way to do a reboot that feels fresh and unique. It's just a matter of hiring the right person.I like Singer, and I believe that WB should let his franchise run its course because what he started in SR was amazing and I want to see more, but in about 10 or so years I think a reboot is not only a great option(re-establishing his origin for a new generation),but it's realistic.Doing a reboot now is completely pointless, because for as many people who didn't like SR there are just as many who like it.As I said though 10 years down the road it would be a great option. What I mentioned above all it needs is the right filmmaker with the right vision to make something that isn't only different, but is fresh and breathes fresh life into the character. All I think is there are ways to re-explore Superman's origin and it not feel like the same old, same old, some examples Smallville and Superman:Birthright.

The environments could be done differently. We could see the city life in Krypton. Also we could have a different origin than what has been done featuring a younger Jor-el. Also Jor-el could be sending him to earth for other reasons knowing a thread will be coming at a specific date where only Kal-el can save this planet since he will be the LSOK. Then you have him growing up with BOTH Kents. Instead of losing Jonathan we could see what he learns from him even after he is Clark in Metropolis. Things could be done in a fresher way that will interest the general audience more.

Maybe not having yet aNOTHER origin story but just a Superman movie set in modern times?

Do you think after SR bombed they'll think twice about hiring bryan singer back?

I could see some areas for improvement. However, as a Superman fan, I was just happy to see him on screen again. Being honest, I can see where some ''less than die-hards'' might have been a bit disappointed.

What could top the plane rescue or the lifting the island into space. Still, there could have been more action. Im a huge fan but I can be objective in seeing where others might not have liked it as much.

The two ''NO-NOs'' were the kid and the lack of a good fight for Superman.

I wouldnt be so ready to kick Singer out just yet. I think, by now, he realizes the few short comings in this movie. DOOMSDAY should come in III, not II. Brainiac and Bizarro would be good for II. Here is one good reason.

Multiple villains could hurt a superhero movie. For example, the 4th Batman movie (Clooney) STUNK. One reason is that Bane should have been alone, not the flunky of Poison Ivy.

One bad thing about Spiderman 3 is that Sandman stole the show and, Im sure, fans wanted to see MORE VENOM. ALso, they could have picked a more masculine actor for Venom. Brock was WAY too feminine in the movie.

Superman, on the other hand, could use multiple villains in one movie. This is due to the nature of his powers. A guy who can do all the things he can would be able to handle more than one fight in a single movie.

I could see Luthor inventing Bizarro, just as he did in Superman 4 (Reeves), and he and Superman having a fight that destroys a few city blocks. This could take place in the first half of the movie. Brainiac comes in the second half and causes ALL SORTS of problems for Superman. Lots of action, good movie.

Either way, Im sure Singer is well aware of the changes that need to be made.

Bombed? Why is it if a movie doesn't gross as much as the spider-man or shrek movies people said it bombed? If the movie makes more than what it cost to make it, I would say that's a success. Wouldn't you?

No, they won't reboot it, they have said they are going to make it, it's just going to take a while, the reason Singer isn't doing it right away is because he wants to do something else. It made more money than it costs to market and make, and has developed a large fanbase also.

Seems to me it has developed about as large an ant-fan base as well, which is truly unique for a film franchise.

They'll do "Superman: Red Sun" or "Superman: Dead Son" :)
