Do You Wanna Feel Old? Thread

what makes me feel old is the ever sliding timeline of the Simpsons...

it one of the newest episode from this season, they had flashbacks to a young Grandpa Simpsons in the 80's {his back story use to be in the 60's when his wife left him to join some hippie commune}

What makes me feel old is that I distinctly remember seeing this with my wife. We saw this in our first year of marriage.
And you've watched it every Christmas since? 🥹

lol. Not at first. But once we had kids, it took on a new life for us. It was really fun watching it with them and I saw it with new eyes.

I heard a very fascinating podcast about the three Grinch films and their evolving messages that reflect the times in which they were produced.
The theory/observation that the podcast put forth is that the old Boris Karloff version reflected the concerns about greed and materialism reflected in the mid 1960’s America. The early 2000’s Jim Carrey film was aimed more as an examination of the painful fallout of bullying that was reflective of the rising digital age. Whereas the newer Illumination film is an examination of mental health and the need to reduce stigmas associated therewith.

I feel old having watched the Paul-Tyson fight last night and seeing what the second greatest boxer of all time looks like in his late 50’s against a 27 year old.

My children don’t respect me anymore. I had told them how terrifying a person Tyson was. Now they think I was either lying to them, or that I must be ancient, because they just saw an old guy who was in great old guy shape get gassed after two minutes and then get toyed with by the kid from Bizzardvaark.

I was really hoping Mike Tyson would win last night. :(

I can't post it here because of the language, but just show them Mike Tyson funny moments on YouTube. That'll put the fear in them. :sneeze:

Paul is desperate for attention that he wanted to stage a fight and commit elder abuse on Netflix.

My husband said Tyson looked really old and slow. Sad part is he's 4 years younger than my husband. :p
The really sad part is that physique-wise, Tyson was the most shredded 58 year old I’ve ever seen.

That was very true, but he lost his wind early. Should have worked more on his cardio as well.

I find it harder to be impressed when the actor is pumping their body full of drugs to achieve it. :o
