Documentary On Blacks & Race Stuns Audiences

A few black children pick the white doll, so ****ing what? That is hardly evidence that the black race has low self-esteem.

15 out of 21. And it's not just that they picked the white doll.

Did you not watch it?

"Which doll looks bad?"
*points to black one
"Which doll looks like you?"
*points to black one

Like I said, that means nothing, saying a plastic doll looks bad doesn't point to total racial shame.:whatever:

it's all about perception. I don't understand how anyone could miss the point here.

it would've been interesting if they did the same with white children.

Which doll do you see robbing the liquor store? :o

neither would get past the asian doll.:o

Perhaps one doll was bought from walmart, and the other doll was bought at Macy's

my understanding is that the only difference between the dolls was the race.

Like I said, it doesn't mean that these kids are growing up shamed of being black. Mainstream media is pretty tolerant, whilst skinheads and rednecks are declining. It's still there but in much fewer numbers.

There's something very creepy about that doll, asians don't have all black eyes.:csad:

Nah man, it really is a problem even if this documentary didn't get the point across to you. I've noticed it with the little girls in my family and it extends past dolls.

All I can say is that humans have made progress, we're hardly doing perfect but it's better than it used to be.

Why does every little thing always burn down to race? Maybe the kids are just attracted to blushing blue eyed, blonde haired dolls instead of the seemingly "bland" brown skinned black dolls? I don't think race is entirely the issue here. Bright colors are more attractive. They're kids afterall.

No Colossal....the documentary "DID" get its point across to him. Kritish just has way of ignoring it or just not liking what he sees. This is a topic that is too heavy for "some" on these boards.

Not "everything"..........but a lot of things are effected by race in America. As much as white people want it all to just go away, the effects of 400 years of slavery and Jim Crow did a lot of generational damage to a people. It's only been about 40 plus years since we could all go to school together. Compared to 400 years, 40 is like last week. Thus the the residual effects linger......images of sambo, minstrels, mammy etc in old cartoons. The roles like pimps, hos, criminals and junkies on film and TV. Black list, Black Ball, Black Sheep, Black-hearted, Black Beard........

Name one serious drama with an all black cast on TV. Plenty of comedies though.

Images..........that's what that documentary was about. Institutional racist effects that slow burn into the minds of young black children when they only see good things portrayed as white.

We still have long road ahead. But we'll get there.

i know that this video didn't show anything new, most people already know this.
i was kind of effected by it though, i actually made me sad.

And say that these are what "black" is. :cmad:

I think its all a matter of Perception really. If kids turn on the Tv and all they mostly see white faces they will pick the white one. But I think if you had a white kid growing up as a minority like in certain africain countries they would pick the black doll.

yeah it annoys me too that people in other countries think all black people are like this. Even today I can walk around London and you see all types of black people who don't dress in baggy clothes, have good jobs, don't all talk gangster and are just themselves. Yet you can go to the suburbs where I live and people think your weird because your not dressed or acting like you walked out of a 50 cent video :cmad:

oh MAN!
the worst part, the most gut wrenching was when she asks the little girl which one is the bad and she holds up the black doll.
which one is the good and she holds up the white doll.
and then ask which one looks the most like you?
and she doesn't know which one to choose until she shamefully pushes the black doll over to her looking down like she's embarassed that she looks the most like the "bad" doll.
****ing terrible.

hmm I think i am going to have to check out the video now
