i really hope Lizard is wearing the lab coat

without it, he will just look like some generic monster

Except he won't in the context of the movie...

Cillian Murphy does not look like that. some might say he looks like a business man with a burlap sack on his head, but within the context of the movie, we know he's the scarecrow.

The fact is Lizard (in this film) resembles Ditko's Lizard the most. If you ask me, that's a good thing. I may be in the minority, but I've always been a fan of Ditko/Romita Sr/Andru's lizard.

However, I do hope Lizard does wear something at one point. It's an essential part of the look.

I very much prefer the Mcfarlane, more reptilian/dinosaur look to the original Ditko one, but I'm happy they're using a combination of both to appease both camps.

Agree with you. I also prefer Ditko's Lizard design to the longer snout, alligator-looking Mcfarlane version, so I'm happy with the leaked concept art. And also would love to see labcoat, even if briefly before getting torn off completely.

I said McFarlane popularized the long snout look, not that he invented it.

I didn't say you said he invented the snout look. I mentioned other artists drew it before him because you said the snout look came about in more recent years after it was popularized by McFarlane. That's not true. Neither Mcfarlane's 90's visual take on the character nor those who drew him with a snout in the 80's should be considered recent.

For the most part I simply disagree and feel the snout look for Lizard is iconic.

Honestly, I don't like lizard's look at all. he looks horrible imo

Agreed. If this image was just a page from a comic artists portfolio I would think it was killer croc or just a personal creation.

I wouldn't mind the snout if it were done well, however, it sometimes comes off as too dinosaurian instead of lizard-like. I personally want to see the Lizard, not the Velociraptor.

Yup, that's my feeling about it as well. Long snout looks too much like a velociraptor or alligator for my taste.

Well the Velociraptor with the white trench coat and torn pants is the Lizard for many fans.

Anything else is just a generic green reptilian monster. As in this case from the concept art we've seen.

Dinosaurs aren't lizards, and trying to make the Lizard into one comes off as unimaginative, uncreative, and lame in my opinion.

I disagree. The "velociraptor" Lizard look is iconic and should be preserved in the new film. The snout faced Lizard has appeared in some variation for many years now in countless comics, cartoons and video games. I doubt in any of his previous appearances anyone claimed his look was unimaginative, uncreative, or lame.

I can understand updating a character a bit for his onscreen appearance....but this simply isn't Lizard. It's an X-file or random alien guy # 464564 from some sci-fi flick.

The classic Lizard with the snout should appear in the movie. They can still easily update him in a creative fashion or change him up a bit, that's cool. But they shouldn't dump everything about the character and reduce him to this. I know some people are saying "oh it's the Ditko" look. But that's arguable. Spideys' updated costume obviously isn't paying homage to the earliest versions of Spidey so why would the lead villain's appearance?

Yeah, dinosaurs aren't lizards....neither is this concept art.

The leaked concept art isn't amazing, IMO, but I do like the fact that it sort of resembles Ditko's. it could have been better, but we'll see. I love Mcfarlane's Lizard, but as I said, I was always a fan of Ditko's.

Even if the coat is tattered, I'll be happy with it.

The design has grown on me a lot. I want him to be more muscular, but I think the fact that it's confirmed that he'll be much bigger and that he'll probably look a lot crazier on film has me amped. I can't wait to see him on screen.

We're also in for a big treat early next week...

I'm betting this is what is - concept art.

The fuzzy leaked footage shows another version so hopefully that's closer to Lizard's standard look.

Some of the long snouted Lizards are good, like Todd McFarlane's Lizard and the The Spectacular Spider-Man design.

Other long-snouted Lizards look too dinosaurian for my tastes.

So it's all in the execution.

The only difference between this Lizard and the real Lizard is his size and intimidation factor. He's apparently much larger and much scarier on screen. Otherwise, everything is the same.

Personally, I prefer a more slender Lizard. It avoids resembling Hulk too much, makes the clothes remaining more believable, and it resembles many real lizard's physiques.

I'd normally agree with you, but I want Spidey to be a big underdog in this film. It's fitting in more ways than one. Having a huge monstrous Lizard makes the fight a lot more exciting.

The Lizard will be naked. Do you see any clothes on this man? No, he is ass out naked!!!

I'm hoping that this is only how he looks initially. As the movie progresses, I want him to look more animalistic.

If you want Spider-Man to be a big underdog against a huge, monstrous villain, use Venom. The Lizard is a tragic villain, and I don't think he needs big muscles to be menacing. Making the Lizard huge and monstrous doesn't really add to the character.

Will he kill? Will The Lizard kill people and if so, how?

He can be both tragic and huge, as he will be.
