The Amazing Spider-Man Does a Lizard with no snout bother you? If so, why?

Does the lack of snout bother you?

  • It bothers me alot

  • It bothers me a little

  • It doesn't bother me at all

  • I actually like him without the snout

I know this is random but have any of you ever seen the Frieza, Buu and Cell fanart that is made to be super realistic? So badass:

Yeah I saw these a while ago. They're ****ing awesome. I think I saw one of Gohan, too, but I might be mistaken.

Anyway, about the Lizard. This is probably just a smaller version of the final design, and with that said I think it's just ****ing awesome.

The second part wasn't what I was replying to, so I took it out.

He only looks Ditko-esque IN THE FACE. He's still a 9ft tall hulking mother****er. A lab coat DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. If his body type was like Ditko's, yes the labcoat would be necessary. But he doesn't. He has the body type of the Hulk.

Actually, my entire post was related to your post. I was saying that if they were going to eschew the lab coat, they should have made the Lizard more reptilian and monstrous, rather than humanoid, to truly embrace the monster aspect.

I'd say the fact that he's gigantic and scaly is pretty monster-like.

That's what they did....the only thing that even slightly resembles a human is his face which is necessary to convey emotion.

I want a snout for at least te final fight because I want to see **** like this:

Of course, I'm in the camp that doesn't doubt the existence of a snout, since the SDCC shows him with one, so I'm not worried.

Well I think that this is just his final form and his previous form will have the lab coat.
Nahh.
Well...maybe.

Personally I would prefer the Lizard to keep his iconic lab coat, it could be all shredded up and stretched but I really think it should be present. It's what sets the Lizard apart from other human-reptile monsters and the design should me made to accommodate it. So I would prefer if the Lizard was a little smaller (7ft or so) so that the coat would work.

On the other hand, it might be more realistic (as far as a human mutating into a Lizard) to leave them out. Realistically the Lizard would probably want to get rid of his cloths as they would only get in the way. Also, they might want to make this Lizard more mysterious. If people see sightings of a giant human-lizard, they wouldn't know what it was or where it came from, but if they see a giant human-lizard with a lab coat, they might put two and two together.

Well...maybe, remember the PEZ dispenser Lizard has a shirt so that actually makes it somewhat likely that the Lizard will have clothes at some point.

 Stopped reading here. The PEZ dispenser Lizard didn't have a shirt.

So that beige stuff is just his belly? Why does it wrinkle like fabric or have a drastic change in color?
So that's his belly then? It really looked like a shirt to me.

For anyone who cares, I edited the picture in photoshop, to enhance the quality a bit.

Your right. The fact that it's the same shade as his chest and not grey (like i remembered) means it's supposed to be his belly. The odd wrinkles and drastic color change is probably just because of the poor quality paint job.
Man I really thought it was his shirt.

I agree. If you're going to use a Ditko-esque, more human-like Lizard, use the lab coat. Or you might as well go all the way to monster Lizard with much more reptilian features if you don't want to use the lab coat.
Eliminating the lab coat has been done before, in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, where I think it worked.

I don't remember Spider-Man in that Romita-esque/Buscema-esque (Sal) pose

LMOA, now people are seeing a SHIRT. This is rich, do go on...

I've been pretty posative on this film so far

  • I like the suit little thing i don't understand like the shoes don't bother me because tbh they are irrelevant and mean very little in terms of the movies quality.
  • I love Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, i think people moaning about his hair are a bit simple
  • I even thought the 1st person stuff in the trailer was pretty cool

so anyway I've been mostly on board with this so far, the lizards look is the first thing in the production that has made me sit back and think *really?* it's not so much his size as that is something that will have been dictated by the story and i have faith they are telling a good one. If they needed a huge lizard he'd have been huge if they needed a svelte one he again would have been.

I also couldn't care less about the lab coat either and who in 2012 wears purple pants?

Bus face though, man am i disappointed about his face, i think it's mostly the lack of sharp teeth or maybe it's the eyes? i don't know i can't put my finger on it but it's just not as awe-inspiring as it should be. i guess it's actually a more sensible toned down version of the lizard, as none of us wanted an emotionless dinosaur but i guess i was just expecting something more than a green face.

still though there is still plenty to look forward to re: this film and at the end of the day it's still only concept art who knows how different he'll end up in the film, i guess this doesn't show his long tongue which judging by SDCC footage, will play a prominent part in his character/look.

I'd say the fact that he's gigantic and scaly is pretty monster-like.

But the face works against it.

That's what they did....the only thing that even slightly resembles a human is his face which is necessary to convey emotion.

But if you're going to emphasize the monster aspect of the Lizard, then he shouldn't have a humanoid face, as it's counterproductive to the "loss of humanity" theme that it's trying to convey.

I think one could make the case that the really tragedy of the Lizard (in the more reptilian incarnations) is that he is entirely cut off from his humanity and sympathy from his fellow man, including the audience, by his reptilian appearance and savage behavior.

I don't ****ing understand what is going on here so I'm just going to lay it all out for everyone right here and now.

1. THIS IS THE LIZARD. This is not an early transformation. This is what he will be. Sure, Dr. Connors might have some scales on him as a side effect, but when he turns into the Lizard, this will be what we see every. Single. Time.

2. He is bigger on film. NUMEROUS people that have seen the SDCC footage state that he is bigger and scarier on film. He will have more bulk to him. Hello? The thing ****ing throws cars (see: trailer), he's not going to be small by any means.

3. There is no god damn lab coat. I can guarantee that during the transformation sequences there will be a little bit of clothing left on him but he promptly shrugs it all off. It will be a nice little nod to the people that want to see it, but it's time to get over it.

I hope this will end any of these silly discussions going forward until we see some real footage of him.

If I'm wrong about any of the aforementioned, I will gladly (per usual) eat my dog.

That picture that leaked before shows a snout, so it's still possible that this is an incomplete form

Pez? Will, if you mean the one with that dino head near two frightened children, I mean that
