To be honest, it really sucked back then. Nowadays it's better. Especially since the HL2 price-drop and the Deus Ex release. t:

I don't think I ever hated Steam. It sucked up resources on my old computer, but I upgraded that piece of crap and it runs pretty smoothly now. It's convenient to have all my games on one menu rather than icons all over my desktop, too.

Played Deus Ex 1's first mission. My advice is to give Gunther the gun. He makes Vincent of Collateral fame look like crap.
