Transformers Does anyone else feel the way I do?

How can it not be a sucessful transformers movie when everyone and their grandma was talking about it and they gave it justice...

Besides, if you are trying to compare it to the only other transformer's movie out there (which was absolutely toss), it wipes the floor with it.

If it only for a second made you believe that those characters were real and they could transform into vehicles and cause city big damage, than i'm sorry, it suceeded.

The fact that you accepted the characters as real is a step in the right direction because plenty of people have dismissed compltely cgi based central characters in films.

not one, not two but about 7 main Ones were accepted here, not to mention a few non-speaking ones (or speaking in english).

I think it just boils down to what most people expect in a director. Guys like Bay and Ratner, they don't act or speak or carry themselves like your typical big-time director and so people try to take stabs at them for being a little different.

Both directors have proven their worth over time, but sometimes when they cross a delicate territory, it gives more people a reason to isolate their flaws (whether in filmmaking or personal demeanor) and blown them up (i.e., petty things like not being able to pronounce "Scorponok"). Bryan Singer can be an example to this as well.

I still don't like ratner, seeing elements of characters he likes and jumbling them together as well as putting internet quotes in films isn't my cup of tea

singer and bay are alright with me though

I think the internet provides just as much of a social insight of a character or a theme as a single comic book could provide, so if the line was taken from a popular comic book quote instead of an internet website, I don't see that big of a general difference.

Perhaps you just didn't like the line itself? :D

the thing is, Transformers was never about deep acting. it was always about giant robots at war. lots of action, low on the plot.

i dont dislike Bay, he makes entertaining films. Transformers, though not my perfect vision of how theyd translate to film, is a fantastic movie. theres probably slim to none who could have adapted better than this team did.

Eh, in my opinion...I preferred the classic movie. At least that has a credible fight scene between Prime and Megs.

Eh, I'm no major fan of any of his films, but the guy does stick to his guns and stay true to himself, an admirable quality. I'm sure that probably translates into arrogance for some...

I wonder why Bay doesn't at least try to have some substance to his films. It's like all his films are disposable and not meant to be anything truly great other than a quick action fix. You look at other directors work and you can see the ART and soul in their films (Peter Jackson, Spielberg, etc.) Bays films come across as....something to watch and then forget about...just nothing special.

D'oh! Are you implying that TF is a film that can easily be forgotten and has nothing special in it?

It has great special effects and more (albeit somewhat) of a plot than his other movies.

:wow:

The scene with the Autobots arriving on Earth is going down as one of the most memorable movie scenes I've ever watched. The music is beautiful, the whole scene of Sam and Mikaela holding each other and looking up at the sky, The Autobots crashing down and searching for vehicles to scan, not to mention when they all meet in the alley and Optimus transforms,
I'd say there was a lot of soul and drama in that scene, and it really makes the picture for me. There was a long build-up to it, that's for sure, but it was ultimately worth it. Everyone who talked about the movie raping their childhood before it even came out, but watching that scene, I was pleasantly reminded of mine.

Then you've got the final battle scene. Whatever people may think of Bay as a director, few could have planned and executed that whole scene better than him, especially compensating for the characters that wouldn't even be there until ILM took over in post-production. To do so much of the action live like that only makes the whole thing even more dramatic. The danger feels more real, and you're more concerned for the characters.

Bay makes films for guys, not gay guys. :o

:p

From what I've heard he's a real *****ebag on the DVD audio commentary. He keeps bragging he's got connections to the military and the Pentagon is 'one phonecall away' or something like that. He's supposed to be very egocentric.

Also, the actors said nice things about him, but I think only for the promotion of the film. He's a lousy actor-director. He screams, yells and provokes the actors. Shia LaBeouf had to stand on a high building for the scene with Megatron. He was a little scared, as many people would be, and Bay called him a wuss. That wouldn't encourage me to do it. I personally wouldn't like to work with him.

Maybe this is unfair, but I give Steven Spielberg a lot of credit for Transformers. I think he had the best ideas in this movie. The 'boy getting his first car' was one of the stronger storylines and created some good moments aside from all the action.

That's why I couldn't listen to the entire commentary! Thanks for solving the mystery for me. :oldrazz:

Until people stop going to see his films, being a *****e won't really be viewed as a negative.

I personally love only (ONLY) ILM work. The transformations are awesome. I love even Megatron look.

But...
I hate that the transformers talk: they are machines, thay don't need to talk! They don't need a mouth!!

I hate that Allspark, that f***ing cube: Primus is the real creator of Cybertron and the transformers. PRIMUS!!!!

Where's the energon? EH?! YOU DARE?! WHERE IS THE ENERGON?!!!

I don't care a s**t 'bout those stupid humans! And that stupid romance!! I want a transformers movie!

They brought a robot fight in the middle of a city?! What kind of s**t they were thinking of?! UH! WHAT KIND?!!

Have you ever heard of the tagline "robots in disguise"? It means also that the transformers WOULD never show theirself to a human. Even the decepticons! Only in alternate mode! It could gave the magic that the transformers might exist in the real world, to a kid. Instead, now in the movie the whole world knows about the transformers. They don't even need to transform now. I mean, for what? People are stupid, scared. There would be an escalation of panic! Many men would destroy cars on the streets and cars dealers just 'cause they would think "that car! it's one of those f***ing killing robots! crush them!!

I PRETEND A REMAKE! REMAKE! REMAKE!

F*******CK!!! THEY DIDN'T EVEN USED THE ORIGINAL MUSIC THEMES!!! NOR FROM SEASON 1, NEITHER FROM SEASON 3!
I WANNA KILL 'EM ALL!!!

I'll admit it. I'm a Bay fan. Bad Boys 1 & 2, The Rock, Armageddon, The Island and, of course, Transformers. I own them all. Even Pearl Harbor. There. I said it.

It takes a lot to say you own Pearl Harbor.

I applaud you.

I own it, but I haven't watched it since I got it. I think it was a Christmas gift. :whatever:

I like the attack sequences when the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor. No-one does action like Bay. That and Kate Beckinsale. :woot:

Peter Cullen said the opposite. Said Bay had alot of great energy and a genuine love for film. I respect that, even if I don't particularily like msot of his films outside Transformers and The Rock.

Peter Cullen may have felt like he had to be suportive of Bay or he might lose his job.Its a well knowen fact that Bay was not very pleased that the choise of casting the voice of Optimus Prime was taken away from him.

That s***ing director uses that goddamm shaky camera effect. In the theater I was almost going to vomit. I wonder how you would feel in an IMAX.

Please, please, please... fire that man.

Well the line wasn't particularly representative of the character and i felt it added to that other additional pieces to the film that seemed to clutter up the scenes...
