Does Brandon smile at the camera when he flies past in the final shot of the movie? It was slightly too dark for me to tell.

Really? I don't remember him smiling. I was in the IMAX too, and I don't remember seeing it.

To me...it was just a slight grin (if even that)....Reeve did a big unmistakable smile, they went for something different with this one.

Superman cracking a smile didn't see that one coming  . It must have been a minor smile I didn't pay that much attention to it in the theater.

As C. Lee aluded to above, he didn't give a full out Reeve toothy smile, he gave what I am not calling the "Routh Smirk".

I'd have liked it if he smiled. He didn't - and the whole thing felts somewhat pointless. Yet another 'homage' that serves no real purpose for the audience except to feel nostalgic.

I didnt think he smiled. Maybe the flying rig just got a little tight in the crotch ;)

It's true, now that I think of it...it wasn't the full smile that Christopher Reeve gave.

I'm glad they kept it in though, that was one of my favorite parts of the original movie. In fact, I was so little when I saw the first one, I think my friends and I actually waved back. :O

When Superman flies toward and up at the screen, yes. He does smile.

He doesnt really Smile like how Chris did which was right at the camera like if he were looking at the fans in the theater... Brandon had a smirk on his face looking down, and then he had no smile or atleast it didnt look like he had one as he got close to the camera, and flew away...

My question really is did they dedicate the movie to Chris Reeve or not because they didnt show a "in memory of" or anything in the theater I saw it.
Not in the start or the end... Anyone know if this was just a mistake in the theater I saw it in or if they just didnt add it to the movie at all???

They had a dedication to Chris & Dana shortly after the end credits began. I would have preferred a singular shot right after Routh went off-screen, but it was there (and has received a separate applause at each viewing I've attended).

Regarding the original question, I thought Brandon did have a subtle grin in the closing shot. It's certainly not as noticeable as Reeve's was, but I believe I saw it.

I love the final shot. I couldn't tell if Routh smiled or not.

I always need to say a movie twice to catch the smaller details. I'm intending to go see it again in Imax, if possible.

he flew past the camera so fast..i don't think i saw a smile..or even a smirk.?
but by that time i was grinning like a fool anyway.

:D

just a small smile, and it wasnt particularly noticable

I saw the film in a digitally projected theater, and you can clearly see a small smile!

this was a more realistic shot. we have to understand that this is a movie. it makes zero sense that superman would smile in the camera. you get me? but since this was an homage he gave a little smile.
but remember. the only reason why branond smiled was because of the homage shot. maybe in the 70's it was normal that he smiles in teh camera but in 2006 itwpould be just stupid.

i am very happy with the last scenes of superman flying. i was afraid that it will not look so good. but singer did a great job.
