1. What would depend on the context of the conversation? The use of the words "as bad as" in association with something? this is as bad as this is the only logical way the sentence can be formulated.![]()
Of course I clarified it. I responded by highlighting the fact that they are salvaging some benefit out of it and their financial and strategic reasoning for the decision is good. Let me quote that entire part again -My argument, so to speak, was that you could have formulated your sentence better instead as in "as bad as you ignorantly claiming.." because you already made it abundantly clear that I was condemning something when you mentioned "bad." Sure, the exact degree isn't explicated there, but neither is it explicated with "decry" either. In other words, your entire sentence never contended the "extent" of anything. Edit: I meant that your use of "decry" never clarified the extent of anything. And lol I said that obviously it wasn't a double f***ing negative. My point is that it falls into the same fallacy. You use two words to imply what one word could have already.
Devil May Cry said:My point wasn't that the justification behind the billion dollar fund was bad, it was...well..the simple fact that they spent a billion dollars period. It's not good no matter how you slice it.
Phaser said:The billion dollar warranty program not only is a patch for the botched production job they did on the 360, but it also a corrective investment that will build market goodwill for the company and like I said, a measure that drives share prices up. Such a strong response from Microsoft over the faulty 360s show that the company is not slacking around and that instills confidence in investors. So essentially, the situation is not all bad as you seem to so ignorantly decrying it to be.
Yes, you seem to be f***ing up a lot lately, haven't you, junior?2. It's 54% of the 60 something percent of all online users. I was wrong about it being closer to 20%, but I could have sworn it was around those numbers a minute ago lol. Anyways, my bad.
Where the hell are you pulling those numbers from, you rear end? MS clearly the number of Xbox Live subscribers had reached 7 million in July 2007. And no, that does not count PC gamers, because PC subscribers are listed under a different service on the same network which is called "Games for Windows - Live" that was launched on May 8 2007 whereas Microsoft had already announced that Xbox Live had reached the 6 million users milestone two months earlier on March 6 2007.Avid PC gamers make up about 41% of that install base, so they don't count. And then you have the casual gamers who play poker and ish. So, about 54% play on Live, give or take. That's great.
For God's sake man, WHY THE F**K DON'T YOU EVER CHECK YOUR FACTS BEFORE POSTING INANE DRIVEL?!But do you think that will be significant enough for gamers. Especially considering as how the episodic content might very well be like 2 more missions?
Gamespot said:X06: Duo of XBL GTA4 packs confirmed for 360
Rockstar's next-gen crime spree will get two Xbox Live packs, each coming within months of release; games will reportedly be as long as Liberty City Stories spin-off.
By Tim Surette, GameSpot Posted Sep 27, 2006 11:11 am PT
When Grand Theft Auto IV was announced for the Xbox 360 at E3 2006, gamers weren't too surprised. What was surprising, however, was the fact that the game was going to get some downloadable content for the game and that Sony's timed-exclusives on the game were history.
At Microsoft's X06 event currently taking place in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft's corporate vice president of marketing Peter Moore gave gamers the latest on what's in store for the game on Xbox Live Marketplace. He announced that Rockstar Games is working on two downloadable packs for the game--to be made available within months of the game's release.
"We're not talking about an extra car or character here," Moore said when describing the "epic" episodic packs. He then joked about Rockstar keeping even him in the dark about the content packs, but emphasized that the packs would be lengthy.
A press release issued during the conference said only that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to GTA4. No additional details on the downloadable packs were released, but industry sources have said they will be along the lines of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in terms of length.
"Each a minumum of 10 hours long" - that's longer than the entire single player campaigns of some games like Lost Planet, Ghost Recon 2 or even Gears of War. And considering the sandbox nature of GTA, the downloadable content could easily be a LOT more longer than that.Xbox.com said:http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/community/news/x06/gta4
"GTA IV will take the form of two distinct episodes, both downloadable from Xbox Live and each a minimum of 10 hours long."
Moreover, due to price, the PS3/XBOX 360 communities don't really overlap as much as they once did. So, if you have a 360, you'll get it regardless and the same with PS3. My point is...the DLC isn't really relevant for..well...anyone, so it seemed as though Microsoft was "reaching" when they thought that that would attract new consumers to not only the game, but to their system itself. GTAIV is a system seller, but if you like Xbox, you'll get the one on Xbox and if you like PS3, you'll get that one regardless of two measly episodic missions.
But they are also warranted because of your incessant ignorance, misquoting and complete failure to check your facts before making idiotic claims. Not to mention your willingness to keep your head buried in the sand still claiming "MS is desperate, how can they make that 50 million back?" even though your own link clearly stated how they are going to accomplish that plus profit.Woah, I though a minute ago we tacitly agreed that insults were bad.![]()
First of all, where Crysis lists a dual core processor in the recommended system requirements, the comments by Remedy about how Alan Wake will not run on any single core processor clearly establishes that Alan Wake will require a dual core as a minimum requirement, meaning that Alan Wake's recommended CPU requirements will be obviously higher than that of Crysis. This is also reinforced by the fact the Crysis is hitting stores a lot sooner than Alan Wake (Sep, 2007) whereas Alan Wake has yet to have a proper release date beyond "sometime in 2008". Judging by how late Alan Wake will be coming out, it will not only eat more processing power, but is also very much likely to demand beefier graphics card and perhaps greater RAM as well.Anyways, with Crysis, the video card alone might cost $600 and up. Since I'm not sure if Alan Wake is requiring something over a Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent, I can't comment on that. But in terms of CPU costs, what I'm saying is you can combat that with selling your s**t. like, a 2.7 GHZ process costs about $540 retail, which is around what you need for Crysis. An AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPu is $320 dollars retail. That's more than enough for Crysis. Core 2 Quad Q6600, which is a top of the line, is around $851. But that's top of the line. And, like I said, you only need a tri or maybe even a dual. With all the s**t that you can sell...the costs aren't so bad. But no..I'm probably not going to get Alan Wake because I'm still waiting for Max Payne 3. I loved those games.

Well get Hot Fuzz then on the 31st.![]()
my ego is pretty big but i try not to use my ego to compensate for other things that i lack.
i've already said the reason i'm dropping this argument. regardless of what you chose to believe, i do have better stuff to do than to argue about a video game that's still more than a year away with someone who would probably claim to know the secrets of the universe if someone challenged him.
The R1 Hot Fuzz? Hell no![]()
Oh God.
Persistent little f***er, aren't you?
Alright, kid, you win.
And since the whole "decry" thing was at the forefront of the argument, let me just say that I have never met anyone who has ever used it so to mean "criticize." The Old French term decrier meant to disparage, depreciate, derogate, belittle, minimize, or downgrade. By the way, encarta is the last place you ever want to look for definitions. I can't believe people still go there and s**t. Some of the texts are just plain innaccurate, and I really don't know anyone in academia who still consults it as a viable source of information. Check Webster, the FreeOnline Dictionary, or some sort of Thesaraus.
"What are you talking about? It's not as bad as you are criticizing it to be"
Did you not read my posts? That's what I suggested you say.
As to the whole I'm a fanboy...Microsoft is the s**t crap....lol whatever, man. This s**t has gone on for two days and I need to get back to my current metaphysical existence.
Edit: reread your post. "all" bad really still doesn't give you a case as to why the existence of bad already incorporates decry into its implication. "It's not all bad as you are claiming it to be" "it's not as bad as you are claiming it to be" Using "all bad" is actually worse than "as bad" because you don't even establish the comparative aspect of what you are saying. So, you're not measuring the "extent" of anything.
You see...there's still the corrolation between the implications of the word bad and claim, so the neutral word "claim" has to be remain neutral. But whatever.
Anyways, my numbers about PC gamers came here. And I was agreeing with you, so it seemed odd that you would contest me. I was looking at the scope of all gamers and wanted to see the percentages of people that not only went online, but went online where. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=13820
The exact percentage of Xbox users I got from gamespot, which you can find your damn self.
It's more insulting than saying "you mother ****er!"
Max Payne 2 didn't sell as well as the first, but it sold respectably for a PC game. However, Remedy isn't the publisher of Max Payne (3D Realms owns the rights and Take 2 publishes) so Max Payne 3 falling flat would just make Remedy look bad, not bankrupt them.
You're from the middle east, aren't you?
Probably shouldn't have told you he's from Pakistan then... I don't think you two would get along so well.Actually I am an Indian. I only live here in Saudi Arabia.
Probably shouldn't have told you he's from Pakistan then... I don't think you two would get along so well.![]()
What's with the whole India vs. Pakistan thing anyway? I asked him, and he said "It's like how you guys don't like Canada". But he seemed to have an actual hatred of Indians, not just joking around.
We hate Canadians? I didn't know that. We give them ****, but it's more a brotherly push and push back sort of thing than an actual all-out blood feud.
