The Amazing Spider-Man 2 does peter actually show intelligence?

Hah.

Yeah, Spidey the DucK sounds pretty cool. :)

274 more to go before the petition is complete :)

i agree that whenever you try to learn something you learn something quick like i do.

i'm also annoyed that people say that andrew's peter is more of a hipster and a skateboarder rather than a nerd. granted we still have the nerds we've always pictures and the nerds who act like regular guys but to me peter seems more like a techie which i don't prefer over a regular guy whose smarter. i mean yeah he acts like a regular guy even maturing in the second movie being all down to earth but not as regular as say eduardo from the social network who acts more like peter parker in the sense of morals and responsibilities even the old parker luck.

so guys do you believe he's more of a modern day nerd or a hipster?

Modern day nerd and kind of a "hipster" (I don't like that word). He's definitely got some pretty hipster interests.

I'm a huge geek, but just because of that, it doesn't mean I can't dress properly. Pretty much the same thing with Pete.

He's just a geek.

I don't get why people hate the way he dressed and stuff in TASM1... confusing.

yeah, i've met moder day nerds like him mostly ones with glasses and a hat. infact i'm a third year college student and my highschool isn't even that far so one day when i came to pay a visit to my highschool and read a comic at the library i witnessed a modern day nerd. one who wears glasses, grey pants, and a black hoodie and i can tell that he is a wise one. trust me, i know seem to know some stuff on people. i also met a few more.

Hm...

Well, there is a difference between geek and nerd though. Huge difference, tbh.

Nerds are smart and obsessed with stuff. Geeks are just obsessed with stuff, though not necessarily above average intelligence.

I'm obsessed with Harry Potter and comicbooks, but I'm not very smart, tbh. Hah.

i know right? i mean i use to dress like him in high school and even know a couple of people dressed up like him even in college. i get that some modern day nerds are different from the ones we've seen like one side who acts enthusieastic, another who seems quiet and anti social, and the other who acts normal but people have to accept that we've seen nerds like these. heck, i can accept that he acts a little hip but the way he stutters and moves kinda reminds me of myself and i didn't do so well talking to people. infact, when i think of hipster i somehow think of matt fraction.

yeah, i love anime, mangas, comics, music, animation, cartoons, video games, and movies and i try to do the best i can to remain smart. i mean i do well in school and in college but sometimes comics, mangas, and animation is what is holding me back a couple of times but i still balance them well.

though peter does seem like a geek which are one of those people who do get picked on. infact since andrew is a comic book geek why can't he appear in geeky sundry? i mean i would love to see him talking to guest stars like josh keaton, CDB, wil wheaton, troy baker, yuri lowenthal, felicia day and even tricia helfer.

He seems to have all the answers come to him, and doesn't know always what to do until they come his way. The first movie, he basically read everything from his father's book it seemed. Yes eventually he figured it out, but still, did anyone else feel as if the answers were just handed to him? And for the second movie, something as simple as his web shooters, Gwen tells him a simple way to make them work, and once again it seems like he was handed the answer. I could be looking way too into this, but that is what it came off to like me.

While we could see more of it but in sm 1-3 we didnt really see any and in asm1 we saw some has he made the web shooters and he rember the fourula and he did the web thing in the swrea i love that sence. Also we he saw those people come out of the room where the spiders where he was able to rember how they opeanded it. In asm2 he was doing the test stuff with his web even if it didnt work it still kind of showed the he new what he was doing. So while we could see more of it asm 1 and 2 did a much better job then 1-3 did.

So anyone could have invented those web shooters? Or understood the equation left by his father?

exactly. not to mention the door tech thingy he had in his room. Its obvious he shows massive intelligence in this series in the first series he just seemed like he studied stuff but never really could invent anything. Big deal gwen jump started his brain in this one to solve something, I dont have a problem with that.

Peter went down one path to solve the battery problem and Gwen showed him another path. That isn't a lack of intelligence or even that Gwen is smarter than he is.

Also a Hipster is generally someone who doesnt like popular stuff. I never got the sense of that from new Pete in any of these movies, he dresses like people dress. Peter Parker actually becomes a normal guy after high school and was never considered ugly in the comics and he always had a bit of a smart ass attitude especially in the 60s. people just seem to make up stuff as they go along when dissecting these new movies. I like both series, but i prefer the new one, while thinking the first 2 Spider-Man films had a more focused creation and the new ones suffer from too much studio producer meddling.

1. Probably, seeing as all he did was slightly modify an existing product from Oscorp, and not invent them himself

2. He didn't understand his father's equation....he screwed it up, and turned Connors into a giant Lizard...lol. So much for a genius.

1. I'm not talking about the webs themselves, I'm talking about the miniturized webshooting devise. Do you think anyone could have constructed a devise small enough to fit on a wrist that has the ability to fire a highly pressurised stream of web fluid from spare parts found in a basement?

2. He understood the formula well enough to know that it holds the key for splice animal and human DNA together. How many people would have understood what that equation meant, much less attempt to improve on the equation?

He did invent the webSHOOTER.

He didnt screw up the equation, Connors did. He simply gave him the necessary component to fill in the missing part, Connors didnt finish testing or tweaking it.

Either way both Connors and Peter suck as scientists in this series haha.

Well I mean, at least Peter has Gwen and Youtube.

Well, not Gwen anymore.

At least Peter has Youtube.

To break it down further, the webSHOOTER has to;
1. Be able to break the web container and dispense the web fluid inside.
2. Open and close to regulate how much web fluid is dispensed.
3. Allow empty web cartridges to be changed for full cartridges.
4. Be operated at the touch of a button.
5. Show how full/empty the web current web cartridge is.
6. Be small enough to fit on a wrist.

All made from items either found in a basement or bought relatively cheaply on the internet.

Who wants to bet he used Youtube to make the webshooter somehow? :p

YouTube said what to do not how to solve his perticular problem.
That's like someone telling you the benefits of cold fusion and then saying, 'well, good luck with that'. The Youtube video just told Peter that when a strong enough electric current is run through a battery the battery will explode.

For the record, Webb maybe could have skipped the YouTube video and trusted the audiece to follow that when you run a strong enough current through a batter it will explode and had Peter run the current through the web and have the battery explode with no YT exposition. Personally speaking I was grateful for the YT video as I maybe would have drawn the conclusion Peter was attempting to create a weapon. Web-battery-BOOM!
