The Amazing Spider-Man 2 does peter actually show intelligence?

Just because Peter isn't as smart as in the 616, doesn't mean he still isn't smart.

He made a pair of digital webshooters, for God's sake. **** like that ain't exactly off the shelf.

Most scientists stuff up, the whole scientific method thing.

The machine they used to test the protein synthesis was a theoretical device, based on parameters they assume the subject will also experience, rat--->Human isn't exactly the same, hence him wanting more time before human trials. Plenty of stuff can go wrong between the practical application of scientific medium and the theoretical formulation of its results, I don't see why a mistake makes either Connors or Parker stupid. It's science.

For that matter, I for the life of me, cannot understand why Gwen knowing how to fix the webshooters is at all a bad thing. It doesn't make Peter a moron, does he have to have intricate knowledge of every scientific concept to be smart? Did we need a scene where Peter gives Gwen a science smackdown to balance it up? Would you all like to have a scene where Peter solves a rubix cube?

Honestly, for a film apparently so deplorably bad, a fair amount of the complaints are huge nitpicks, subjective or something that doesn't effect the narrative as a whole. It's a suspension of disbelief thing sometimes, and it's fine to judge a film by those standards, I'd just hope you judge other CBM's (perhaps the ones in your avatars) with the same standards.

Also I guess we can assume he learned how to synthesize the web now too since Oscorp bio cross species **** is all terminated.

He still has his own little spider, it's in a jar. I assume he just gets it off that.

I don't think you can witness a movie where the protagonist creates a miracle webshooting device that most companies would kill to get their hands on and then claim Peter hasn't shown intelligence. If that's not showing intelligence then I don't know is.

The webshooter is at least as complex as the mini Arc Reactor Tony invents in the cave.

as much as i really adored the raimi films one of the things that buigged me about maguire's peter was that i never bought that he was actually smart. i mean the rest of the characters in the films were beliavable but peter never actually felt real to me and one of those things like i said before was his intelligence. whenever tobey tries to say something smart it comes off rather cartoonish and just made me laugh. now i meant geeks and nerds before and despite them having being goofey and energetic they have been shown to be rather enthusiastic and somewhat passionate. when maguire does it it just feels very comedic. sure in the second film he talked to doc ock about some science stuff but the other problem i have with maguire is that he never uses his head nor was ever being proactive. the only time where he figured out to do something in battle was when peter uses those pipes to make noise vibrations to weaken venom.

for gafield we haven't gotten enough of it. people say he created the door lock but to be honest i just found out that almost anyone can do that even 12 year olds. just go check them out on youtube. the only time we see him show off his intelligence was when he created the shooters. and sadly in the second film garfield was so dumb that he doesn't know the meaning of magnets nor batteries which i question why were those in there.

so were there ever moments that peter showed off his intelligence in both tasm 1 and 2?

Tobey's Parker was always shown to be smart. There was usually a few scenes in each film of him in class or talking about science. That was the basis of his entire friendship with Octavius in SM2.

Toby's PP, at least to me, came across as a talented student. Garfield's PP comes across to me like a genuine genius.

You guys realize even geniuses have to read and learn to apply their knowledge, you arent born knowing how to do everything just because you are a genius.

:applaud:applaud:up::up: someone finally said it.

well we did want a classical smart peter that does some things on his own plus the who9le magnets and batteries thing just made peter into an idiot

that's what i said but whenever tobey tries to say something nerdy or sciencey he just comes off as silly especially when he smiles. i'm not being a kill joy to say things need to be serious but whenever tobey does nerdy things he reminds me of those nerds that i've seen in movies and tv shows. despite andrew being one of those modern day nerds and not like the modern day nerd of eduardo from social network aka wht peter parker should've been whenever he does something smart it's more convincing. though i wish he was shown to be more brainy from the beginning because it seems like he became smnarter when he found richard's breifcase but i don't know if that was the case originally. infact when peter wrote sceiene and mathematical equations on his skateboard i wonder how old were they. but whatever, the movie suffered enough because of the people bashing it since the beginning before the release of the first film and marc and andrew have suffered enough.

though if wither of the two were smart they'd fix the collector's hair XD

Who doesn't know 8th grade Science. Lol

Once again...8th grade Science.

Who doesn't know 8th grade Science. Lol

It's from all that screamo music he probably listens to on his headphones while brooding the streets in his hoodie riding his skateboard.

Hipsters r 2 c00l 4 science

Yeah, you would hope even the average human being knows that type of stuff lol

he's not a hipster. he's one of those modern day nerds. i have met a coupke of them like him. it's just that he's not the same as eduardo from the social network. and for the love of everything that is holy webhead, try and lighten things up. we don't need more raimi comparisons. just express your opinions and have fun okay :)

No, he is a hipster. Garfield even said they couldn't make him a nerd because they felt "nerds are cooler now and they basically grow up to run the world and aren't as hated these days" which isn't completely true but I see his point. So they decided to make him a different kind of outcast.

A hipster.

And I never brought up Raimi. I am expressing my opinions. I am having fun. I don't need to lighten up.

This is a freaking message board about a movie. It's not that serious.

I wouldn't call him a hipster. He doesn't listen to music nobody has heard of, and he doesn't wear hats and scarfs.

I call him a modern day teenager.

yeah, he's not a hipster. also, andrew stated that nerds aren't stereotypical as you would imagine and even not the ones you've seen in the big bang theory. they act normal sometimes and have proven to be smart especially when they spend so much time on comp[uter.

infact, he doesn't even look nor act like a hipster.
