Super Mario Donkey Kong Country Returns

Make sure to get the first Mario Galaxy. I actually like it better than the 2nd one, but that's just me. I'd recommend playing Other M, I liked it myself... when all's said and done, Prime is still much better, but it's worth playing.

I have the first Galaxy... my Wii just bonked out before the 2nd one hit. The main complaints I heard about Other M is they made Samus a cry baby or something? Correct me if I'm wrong... and I probably am, but isn't Other M her origin? Like... I assume she wouldn't be a hard ass to start...

They just gave her emotion and tried to give her a backstory. It goes into when she was with the Federation and stuff... THAT'S actually the problem I have with it. All the other people in the game. Gone is the solitude and isolation of all the other games. The combat is pretty fun though, that's why I liked it.

Ah... well if the actual gameplay is fun... I'll play it. For sure.

Another game I'd recommend is Mad World, over the top violence from the team that delivered Viewtiful Joe. I just got it for X-Mas myself, I had a great time with it.

It was at Wal Mart for $8 and I haven't seen it over $10 anywhere else.

I'll be getting a Wii within the next month or so... along with this game.

...And Sonic Colors, GoldenEye, Kirby: Epic Yarn, Mario Galaxy 2... ect. Part of me even wants to try Metroid Other M. It really can't be THAT bad.... can it?

GoldenEye isn't that great on the Wii. I'm not even comparing it to the original. As a stand-alone title, its mediocre.

And personally, I HATED Kirby's Epic Yarn. Coming from a HUGE Kirby fan, that says a lot. Sure its charming, aesthetic, and original, but its terribly boring and repetitive. I love Kirby games for their cute charm, but this game game's cute level was far too much for even me. And being unable to die, ever, really killed it for me. Ultimately I traded it in the same week for Enslaved, a mediocre game itself, and felt like I trade up.

Whats sad, is that KEY is getting rave reviews, so the next Kirby game will most likely follow the exact same formula as KEY. That's sad for me because I've waited years (since the beginning of the GC era) for a new, non-handheld Kirby, and after all those years we get Epic Yarn. I hated it, and we're probably not going to get a traditional Kirby since KEY sold well :csad:

When it was shown at E3 this year, I thought KEY looked great, I loved the art style, how everything looked to be made from fabric. I only played it for a few minutes at Gamestop, but it seemed really easy. Like you said, a cute game, but also a really easy one. Even when I die 10 times in a row in DKCR, I'd still choose difficulty over no challenge at all.

Made it through the first 3 worlds in Donkey Kong, the game is great. Very much like New Super Mario Bros, which is a great thing. The only complaint I have is I wish you could assign a button to the "motion control" stuff, the "motion control" actions seems very tacked on and could have easily just used a button. That and getting it the same time as Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, that game's really sucked me in.

I wish we had some word on a sequel already. Maybe it didn't do as well as Nintendo hoped?

So is this Donkey Kong game as good as the old school ones on SNES?

I'm thinking about getting a Wii just for Mario games and this.
:o

It's not a bad investment, I really like the Wii, got it for the Nintendo franchises and it was worth it.

DKCR blows the old DKC games out of the water. Retro has outdone themselves this time...I really hope they do a sequel.

I finally got the game! I traded in GT5, and was able to get this for cheap, and wow, do I love this game. I thought I would have hated the nun-chuck style, but I actually like the way it feels. It's also very challenging. Great game!:word:

Got it finally. Takes some getting used to with the Wii controls, but other than that I LOVE it

Yeah definitely... I can't wait to hear if they've got something in the works for 3DS too.

Great to hear everyone loves it

So I've been playing Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and I really like it, it's a great game, but does anyone else feel like it's missing something? I'm not sure if it's the lack of K. Rool and the Kremlings or because David Wise didn't do the music for this one (really, really glad he's coming back for the sequel by the way), but something just feels very "plain" about it.

It was too short for me. I breezed through it. Sure, I could have gone back and got all the collectibles, but I ran out of levels pretty fast.

I think the SNES games were heavily defined by their style and atmosphere in addition to the music. There was something kind of edgy and moody looking about them. Donkey Kong 64 was a very different style IMO, taking more after the Banjo games which were more bright and childish on the surface with adult humor hidden throughout(similar to a lot of Nicktoons).

I agree. Donkey Kong Country 2 is one of the best platformers I have ever played. It had everything!

I could never beat DKC2. I'd get to that one Bee boss and get my ass handed to me.
