With news of a certain comicbook superhero becoming a super
Dad
, I thought it'd be interesting to look back at some instances on this show where our hero, Clark displays characteristics of a parental figure or gaurdian to some youngster. Now I need help with this because I can't remember exactly who all the children were that clark helped in some way. From memory, I have the girl who explodes glass, Bart Allen: kid flash, a child he saves that we see in the opening credits of this season, then there was a child from either the first or second season who had some powers but I don't remember much about him. were there others aswell?

Who else has Clark shown his more parental side to in his life so far? What qualities do you see in Clark Kent that would make him a good parent some day if he and chloe ever have children (ok, not chloe, just lois..., fine..:o.)?

 please stay open.:supes:

Nice thread.

Clark would make a wonderful dad, especially since he himself was adopted.

The kid from Stray (S1) and Ryan (S2) could read minds, though he couldn't read Clark's. He died of a brain embolism...

Another was Evan from DeKnight's "exploding baby" (LOL!) episode, Ageless...

And I *really* liked Fragile. It was sweet and touching and truly heartfelt. Clark was patient, understanding, and loving. He exemplified many of the wonderful qualities that make him Superman...

PS: LOL@the Chloe part. :p

ha.. it's my dream... ;).

Aww that kid from s1 died? I liked him. :(
and wow, I never knew he cared for an exploding baby once, very interesting...

Fragile and the flash episode really are what started my thinking about the parental side of superman, especially fragile with how he was gentle and caring towards the scared little girl. Oh yeah, the show definitely gives clark some of superman's qualities there. We see superman fighting to protect his loved ones against dangerous villians and all that; we see how much he cares for his family and friends more and more as he becomes more heroic, so I thought it was nice to also see a more intimate and personal way he helps people by genuinely being a darn nice guy to some children by giving them someone to trust and something to hope for... I thought that was very fatherly as well. I want Clark as a dad now.

Clark and Bart, though I think that was more brotherly. There was also the girl who could shatter/control glass. Clark was very protective and understanding of the girl.

Though so far, i have seen him more as a big brother than fatherly.

I love how Clark always gets down to their level and speaks to them as an equal. That is something that is very important when you are dealing with a child.

The best kindergarten and pre-school teachers my kids have had have been able to do that. Tom as Clark has that move mastered to perfection.

^ LOL!!! Too funny. Who has the manip of the green bottle from that bar scene? *giggle*

Anyhoo, back to topic...

Agreed! He did the same in the hospital scene from Ryan. Clark and Ryan talk about Warrior Angel and Clark admits to having a fear of heights (great stuff!) Perhaps it's more a product of proper camera blocking, but Clark crouched down to be head level with Ryan, recumbent in his bed...

There was a lot of warmth to this scene, and the performance was phenomenal from both actors. Gotta luv Clark's expression there. :D

Great timing, specially since it's a 4th of July long weekend. :D

well superman always had a special connection to children and that is an aspect that the show has also done extremely well from two of my favourite episodes ever, stray and ryan to fragile which i really loved and think tom did a great job directing that episode (and being that connection the whole theme to the episode i thought it was the perfect one for him to direct rather than say an action packed/special effects centered episode), run of course and even ageless,
i think he can relate to kids and their innocence and being somewhat of an outsider and like batman himself says in hush, clark always knows the right things to say
