Superman Returns Don't turn your back on Superman.

If it's a re-intro of the characters and the mythology then I'll live with the crappy story, even enjoy it because it is a visually astounding piece of filmmaking. But 3 things must follow:

1. The film makes enough money for a sequel to be greenlit soon.

2. Supervillians (and I don't mean Zod) next.

3. Singer leaves the Donner films behind and really embrace the mythology from the comics.

I complained at first but I changed my mind, and knew I'd have to see it anyway, and knew I'd come out liking something, he's Superman my childhood hero.

I loved the whole movie. But all people here know how to do is cut everything down, and be negative.

Routh and Kate did not look too young, they really did look good, the suit actually looked very cool, very classic.:supes:

The whole thing was moving, it felt like the first movie but yet more like the comics, and was a nice tribute to Chris and what came before.

The score is beautiful, I bought it myself yesterday.

There was nothing wrong with this movie, sure the kid is weird but people didn't like when in the comics Lois and Clark got married, now there's this, that just might happen in the comics soon.

Spacey finally brought Lex to life, he was nothing like cheesy stupid Hackman, Spacey is Luthor.

People are just upset 'cause they were under some delusion that Zod or Brainiac was going to pop up and didn't.

They always go with the arch villian for the first, and this is the first after so many years, it needed to be Lex, do I want to see a supervillian and a super fight, YES, but this was just right to reintroduce Superman to the world.

Routh was awesome, he sounded like Reeve, and looked a bit like him, but more like the comic book IMO.

Very good movie, I'll be seeing it alot.

Dude! I am a die hard. I have loved Superman through good and bad. I'm not turning my back on him. I'm turning my back on Singer, and I think you should distinguish that. NO ONE who doesn't find the absolute praise you do in this film HATES Superman. Some of us may have been fans for longer than some of you have been alive. NO ONE hates Superman. Unless they do...and that is another story...:)

I just have an extreme dislike for Singer, and that may change if he delivers a better movie that sells Superman better and sells me on Superman better.

But...I will not turn my back on Superman regardless of what Singer or anyone else does...I just hope Singer or someone else delivers a movie equal to BB. This was not...it was off for Superman. Deal with it that some folks don't like it...because I'm slowly coming to realization that some of your really really do:) ...which makes no sense to me:confused:

i thought it was a good movie, f***ing nerds can never be satisfied, they have to pick everything apart and ***** about it.

Oh calm down their little boy, all because you loved the film does not mean everyone is going to, just accept the fact that a lot of people do not like it.

Seriously are some people so blind that they cannot see a bad movie when they see one? I mean it was not a good movie, people wait 20 years for another Superman movie and what do they get? Yes a soap opera. I mean I was bored out of my head while watching the movie, a lot of Smallville episodes are more exciting and interesting then the movie, I mean I was looking forward to seeing the season 6 of smallville then watching the movie finish.

The only reason this movie is making the money it is making is that they see the name Superman, while other people notice the name but do not care for the movie as they do not like what they saw from the trailers.

This soooo reminds me of the JL debate with Supes for his first season. Same stupid ass bull**** from sheeps.

Folks...like me were ****ing pissed. I ranted long and strong on Supes looking like a damn fifty year old and getting puched around like a five year old. It was OOC, and I don't care what he went through in STAS. Yet, there were all these folks railing and just going crazy that we didn't like the first season of JL, the next chapter in the Timmverse :) Same ****...different day.

Timm admitted he screwed up! Watch his commentary...HE admits it because we were right. He dropped the ball on Superman and Superman comes off looking like a chump. We knew what we were talking about, but speaking against the vision was wrong because you don't want people to not watch the show...because then you aren't a real fanboy are gurl.

Though when Supes came back all great in the next season, kicking ass like he should...no vocal complaints.

People understatement the comic radar because they think we are geeks...we've been doing this **** for years.

Just gimme Braniac and Darskseid! Will even settle for Metallo!

Singer still did a great job, and the writers other than Bryan did read the books. It felt more like the comics than the second one. There is nothing wrong at all with this movie. And those complaining are complaining just to be jerks.

I couldn't believe that when I came on here there were all sorts of bashing, when everyone said how great it was even though they didn't see it.

Those that saw some ahead of time, or previews said it was great, then the internet geeks get started bashing it and the other mindless idiots just follow them.

You know people may have actually listened to what you said had you just not called anyone complaining a jerk.:down
See I think mindless people like you who are jerks for having the nerve to call other people who have complaints jerks.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe there complaints are valid????:(

Singer had the chance here he had with Xmen and he did the same thing he should and could have delivered a great epic movie instead we got a good movie.
SR is a good solid movie but IMO lacks replay-ability , think about it how many times do you think people want to re-watch him lift heavy things or the drama interaction?

No director anywhere will EVER be able to please even the majority of people on this or any other fan boy site when it comes to Superman, and you know what? They shouldn't. Hardcore fans should NOT be setting the tone for any comic book movie.

Singer did the right thing. He used the same formula that Donner did back in 1978 to RE-INTRODUCE the character to the world, after a 20 year absence. He wanted to tell and origin story withOUT going into the origin of the character, and he achieved that result with flying colors.

Were there some mistakes? Absolutely. I have my own list of things I didn't like about the movie. But that does NOT mean I "hated" the movie. Nor should you people.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Singer continues the tale of Superman. I really think that this movie HAD to be done the way it was, as that re-introduction to the character, BEFORE he could delve more deeply into the world of Superman we all already love (and those unfamiliar will soon love). But now that the new origin is done, I think the sky's the limit (pardon the pun) for the Superman franchise. Maybe we WILL see Doomsday. Maybe Braniac. Who knows. My point is, however, if you're not a hardcore Superman fan, you have no effing clue who those characters are, for the most part. And that is precisely why he had to go with a simpler "Hey, here's who Superman is" kind of tale. Now that everyone is back on track, he can go in other directions.

Anyway, IMDB is giving it a 7.7 rating from more than 12,000 votes. That tells me that Average Joe really liked the movie. No offense to you hardcore fan boys out there, but your opinion means squat in the grand scheme of things. The movie has already pulled in more than 100 mill, so your hopes that the movie will tank are crushed, thankfully.

EVERYone I've talked to who has seen the movie has thought it was either good, very good or excellent. I haven't heard a single bad review from the dozens of people I know who have seen it.

Which means one thing - people who think like the people on this board, who say the movie sucked, are in the MINORITY.

Deal with it.

just to get this out there...... when i walked out of the theater, I wasn't sure how i felt about the movie. I told my girlfriend I wasn't sure how to swallow it all. I was on the wall, so to speak. A few days later, i was on the phone will my brother and I estatically told my brother he MUST see this movie... my girlfriend overheard me and was surprised to hear me tell him that... It was at that moment i realized how much I like this movie.... and i can't wait to see it again. It took awhile... but its definitely the superman i've waited 19 years for.

Why shouldn't fans who have supported the comics that led to movies like STM, SII and all the rest not be included for the demograhpic? I mean, yes...I've said this. You will not please everyone, but you do need to make this appeal to the comic fanbase. I can only speak for the people I have spoken with in the comic shop, and they weren't wow'd by the movie. It's either too soapy, too overly dramatic, not enough action, kind of boring...etc. But, everyone generally thinks it's a good movie just...not a good one for Superman and especially not a good one after a twenty year wait. The tone of the movie is depressing, and I would think being depressed at the end of a movie isn't good unless we are talking about Beaches...boy I really cried at the end:O

This movie is not being rewatched by comic fans...at least none at my shop. We are the minority...maybe....but that's going to hit this movie and be mentioned if SR doesn't have bo traction. By then...the sharks will be in the water big time.

hehe wow you're a fickle one, no offense. well I wouldn't recommend seeing it but if you must, go ahead. Some fx are good and the dogs are cute.. No I wasn't satisfied with the "OMfG intense!11 action scene with a waterfall drop, omg will they make it? is superman dead?" No that didn't do it for me... I won't target sr for anything brainless although there are some things I thought could be classified like that... anyway... I thought king kong was crap. X3 was less crap but still crap too so I don't think I'd actually watch them again.
Hear me loud and clear pal.... Not YOU or any other UNsatisfied fanboy on this freaken planet are gonna stop me from watching this film on opening night (here in Denmark), and I'm gonna love it. I already know it.. I dont know what you expected, but no way that non of you ****s are gonna ruin this for me, so stop trying to do so!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So tell me the reason why you didn't like the movie. If you are true fan of superman then support this movie it was an epic movie better than batman begins. It also did better in numbers for the first week than batman begins.

Ahh another dumb ass point by kal-el2006, thats not even why the some people have a problem with the film, it's over your head why some people, who love Superman, loathe this film.

You think just because Superman is on the big screen again in a bad, dramaless drama rehash of Donner's film that everyone should get on there knees and open there mouths, well, your wrong!!!

For the people who love the film, great, your happy, for the people who don't love it, I geuss were waiting another 20 years or until the next live action tv series comes around, and hopefully it's not based off this film!!!!!

The whole problem with debating the film is the people who love the film can't understand why a Superman fan would hate it, and vice versa!!

Now don't make assinine comments like you did about the giant spider, no flying, and no suit again because thats not even the point.

I would like to think so... But you guys are bashing this movie so hard, and I dont believe what I'm hearing! This movie WILL triumph, I know this in my heart. To bad that you guys didn't like it, but to say that it sucks more then X3!... I just dont believe it! This movie is HUGE, it's been stressed from the begining, and I'll be there when it opens... People say that it's too close to the Donner vision.. Well, that only makes me one happy camper! You're really out of line when saying that you recommend NOT seeing it. It deserves to be seen on the BIG SCREEN.. and no matter what fanboys may think and say, I'll take my chances on the very first 2 reviews that came out, saying that this movie is beyond great!

Oh, I may hate this movie, but it's not nearly as bad as X-Men 3.

Those of us who are being negative - are being negative not just for the sake of being negative - or for the sake of hating Superman.

We are being negative because we saw great potential for an epic modern Superman film and were greatly disappointed in wasted potential that just feels like a shame.

Seeing SR was like seeing an old friend that used to be the best...but is now crippled or sick. You just feel sorry for him and wish that things would have been different and you want to help, but you can't because it's totally out of your control.
I don't know why you expected that from a Bryan Singer film. Now I'm not judging the movie because I haven't seen it, but I've seen enough of his work to know that he is an okay thriller director and a awful action director.

Seriously, are you ok?

lol, no. go see it. I don't really care whether you do or don't, honestly. Just don't put words in my mouth like that. X3 was more fun but it's a toss up for me... I'm not even getting into that since I never claimed anything of the sort... It's pretty uncool to stick words in other peoples mouths, man.

I recommend not seeing it, because I don't think its worth seeing if you've watched donners movies or the smallville show. There's not much new except a few cool fx, some cute dogs, and of course the kid. but I'm not even trying to convince you of anything. All I can say is, if you want to see it, by all means, Go see it and think for yourself about it, rather than judge it solely on two reviews before ever seeing a single frame.

Eh, 12 nerds on the Hype didn't like SR.....big freakin deal.....next.
