They always call my cell phone now and it's pretty annoying. My friend at school is one now but I don't talk to him anymore...:hyper:

I bet this thread has never been done before, anywhere.

I've had to do it a couple times to make some extra cash. And while you may think you're getting us good by hanging up or making weird comments, it's being recorded constantly and the entire staff is cracking up at how much effort you'r putting into supposedly pissing us off. Some guy told me to put him on the do not call list, and I was like, "of course, sir", and all the while I was making faces at my colleagues imitating the guy on the other end. You don't realize these jobs have a huge turnover, so we **** with you until we get our meager check, then move on to another dept. I had one guy try to be funny and was like, "if you hang up, i'm going to kill myself", and I had to say, well before you do, please take a look at our interest rates.

I like to say to telemarketers hang on a minute, i've got to get the door, put the phone down and leave it. Shouting loudly and pretending to have a fit is also funny. "I thought you were the hospital etc".

That's not how my buddy tells it. He telemarketed a couple times, also to make some cash, and he got so tired of being berated by people that just wanted to be left alone, and made fun of by people with nothing better to do.

I supposedly reduced a telemarketer to tears once by intricately describing how I was torturing my grandmother at the time, but I think he might have been playing the same game I was playing.

Depends on how strict your superiors are. Some people just can't handle it. I had a bunch of 20 somethings I was working with who were basically fresh out of high school, so they were there to just mess around.

The funniest stuff I've ever heard has to be Jim Florentine's Terrorizing Telemarketers CDs.

I think telemarketers were once respected, when they called.People answered, its just their methods soon annoyed people.I think they get paid to call you, weather you answer or not doesnt make a difference.

Telemarketers were respected? I doubt it. At one time, politicians were respected. As cynical as I am, it's true. They were.

However, telemarketers have never been respected

Telemarketers? No, they never call. Bill collector? Yes, they call five times a day. :(

^Sugar daddy. :o

I have caller id and a voicemail. I only pick it up if I know the person.

Is it that hard?

^^how... how'd you know?

i applied at a telemarketing place one time... you have never seen so many old strippers gathered together in your LIFE!
that's all that works there.
old women who dress RIDICULOUSLY ****ty, chain smoke, and look like they just left the club 30 minutes before coming into work.
blah!
true story

I try and be polite to people when they call... but its hella funny when they call and ask to speak to the man of the household. I really pissed him off when I told him that he could speak to my wife.

Apparently I sound like kid on the phone, because they often ask if they can speak to my parents.

OOOOO!
the worst is when they try and pronounce my name!
or when i used to live back home and they would ask for Mrs. ____.
first they couldn't pronounce her last name!
and then i would yell "SHE'S NOT MARRIED TO THAT BASTARD ANYMORE!!!" and hang up.
pfft. how are they just going to assume she's a Mrs.!? sexist mofos.

Even worse when they try and get mine. Or they assume that I'm indian and talk very loudly and slowly. Idiots.

Or they're doing 'important government surveys'. Thats when they usually ask to speak to my husband.
