It appears that they don't really go door to door harassing people, anymore. They have now discovered the wonders of that new-fangled invention known as the telephone. I just got a phone call from some incredibly perky and cheery woman known only as "Laurie" (I am assuming she was lying about her real name) who was very excited to tell me all about some very enlightening scriptures from the bible. I cut her off after she said that and asked her to take me off her calling list. Her reply? "Are you sure? Have you ever talked to a Jehovah's Witness before?" Are you kidding me? My reply was "Yes, as a matter of fact I HAVE talked to Jehovah's Witnesses before. Why do you think I'm telling you to take me off your calling list?" She sounded hurt but told me she would take me off her calling list. I absolutely HATE telemarketers of any kind, but seriously....if God's not important enough for you to get off your duff and come to my house so I can tell you to leave me alone in person and to your face, how am I supposed to take you seriously?

*has to listen to parents who are newly minted grandparents complain that they couldn't reach my wife and I to find out how the baby is doing because the phone was turned off*

New problem created.

At least it's a real person.

You could get

"If you would like to know the love of God, press 1 now.

If you would like to know the love of God in Spanish, press 2."

One of my cousins is a Jehovah Witness, her husband got her hooked. When i went to use their computer, pretty much ever website was blocked, including SHH.

Phone witnessing is actually mostly for those who can't get out because of health problems and those who want to assist them. You should maybe take them even more seriously, because they're trying to do as much as they can, however they can.

I thought so myself, but then I thought maybe he is a jehovah witness. Then I thought well even if he is what would make him search for a thread like this, then I thought......nevermind, it doesn't matter

Lol, yeah... I saw it a really long time ago and looked it up... and yeah, I am.

If they believe that only 144,000 people are getting into Heaven, why are they out trying to get more people?

Also, why was this bumped after a year???

It honestly makes no sense. After years and years since that religion has been around, no one believes that 144,000 people are already there? Also, if there is only 1 seat left, are you going to go spread the word?

good now i dont have to feel bad when i shut the door in their face

The thing is, we don't believe everyone is gonna go to heaven... earthly paradise spoken of in the bible.

Just clarifying...

I would just like to know why anyone would follow a religion in which a head count was seen as priority and why a large number of people would follow it without knowing if they will get to enter Heaven. I would be pretty pissed if I worked hard all of my life and then I die and Peter says "Sorry, all the seats are already taken." Statistically, that place is already full. Christianity has been around for over 2 thousand years. I would guess that 144,000 people already are there.

I'm not trying to mock you like others on here appear to be but where does the number 144,000 come from? Is that real or is that just something that people who don't know your religion made up? And if it is real, how is it an exact number that is known?

No one is mocking anybody. I am a Christian...we share many things in common.

I don't remember everything right now, but it is in the bible, somewhere in Revelation. If I remember, I'll tell you.

I have had some good times with a couple of guys coming up to my door asking me if I have heard the good word. I have come to the door in tighty whities, I have acted like I was posessed, and I have gotten my roommate to lie in the floor with a pentagram of candles around him. Just see if you can freak them out. Ask them if they want to come in and drink some Koolaid:up:
