This was just terrible, I mean seriously, everyone in the movie shown were hungry for food...what about the cows that were shown?!

Arrow In The Head at Joblo.com liked it. That's good enough for me to see it.

i saw this last night, and i did not want to see this really. it ended up being so much better then i thought it was gonna be, and funnier

the scene where the bunny gets what it doesn't deserve
, i swear i havent laughed so hard in, well at least a month.

keep your expectations low people, and you'll love it

Just saw the film at Night Visions Film Festival (they gave me free Doomsday cap, yay! Though, I don't wear hats... :p) and...

It’s not a really bad movie and it has some cool ideas mixed in, but it’s definitely a disappointment considering it’s the follow up to my 1 horror film of all time.
...I have exactly the same feelings. It wasn't bad movie, but I had so high expectations for this. The trailer was awesome and I enjoyed the hell outta Marshall's previous movies + I'm huge Mad Max fan. It had all the incridients, but the cooking wasn't that good. I'm definetely seeing this again when it opens May 16th in Finland. I wanna know how is it gonna turn out on the second time now that I already know what kinda movie it is.

My main beef though,

Why da **** did the actress who played Holly in The Descent have to die AGAIN in Doomsday. And about as unceremoniously as she did in the Descent. I almost wish she had been cast as the major. I guess some would think she's as conventionally pretty as Mitra, I guess. That's okay, though, 'cause if I had half a chance, I'd tear dat ass up!
That one bugged me too! :woot:

Omg... are those actual picks from this film??? So this actually was a Mad Max ripoff I guess...
Ripoff... homage... what ever you wanna call it... :whatever:

I loved Doomsday,I wasn't looking for an interesting, deep,or inspiring movie. I wanted a fun dark apocalyptic/sexy/action/comedy/scifi horror packed movie with characters I like and that is what I got folks!
I can't wait to get it on dvd.

This happened to be the first time I've seen a movie without knowing ANYTHING about it. We were late to see the movie "Bank Job", so we saw this instead. I figured that if Rhona Mitra got naked, it'd be worth the $8 afternoon price that I paid.

What sorta bugged me is that the film tried to be too serious at the start, and then flipped around to be "mad max" around the middle. But the best parts of the film (we laughed at) :

  1. The sentry gun shredding the cute bunny.
  2. Sol punching some random guy at the train station after Rhona gets away.
  3. Sol duct tapping his girlfriends head to her body during the car chase.. and it flying off later.
  4. The gimp strapped on to the front of the car .. and the guy asking him if he likes pain.. then the gimp crashing into the flaming car.

Really stupid stuff (didn't make me laugh, but groan)

  1. Bob Hoskins and Macolm McDowell doing the Cuba Gooding Jr method -- taking ANY role that comes along.
  2. Rhona Mitra not getting naked at all! :cmad:
  3. The APC windshield can be pierced with a bow and arrow? Uhm I figured these would be bulletproof. If computer monitors are arrow-proof, why wouldn't an APC windshield be?
  4. Rhona not being able to completely smoke Sol's cars in her brand new Audi. -- of course that would make the car chase scene boring.

Well comes out tomorrow, so seeing it then, looks good I think.

Just remember to remove your brains before watching.

Whats with the guy in the black on the front of the bike next to the car lol

Cool clip, looking forward to this film, sites been updated as well :D

That's the GIMP. He sorta shared a cell with Rhona Mitra, but didn't really do anything other than look like a Gimp from Pulp Fiction.

However, this scene is one of the funniest when the passenger in the Audi asks the Gimp if he "wants more pain?" The Gimp then goes flying in to a flaming crash.:wow:

Ok so saw the film and well...I kind of liked it in a way, it was fun to watch and I love blood and violence in films etc lol So I was kind ok watching it

The car scene was funny when the song came on two tribes go to war lol

But
the 'dark ages' part I laughed at I was like oh my god, that is well....random...funny and weird lol They pretty much went back to King Arthur days right lol
And she stayed, I mean you know why as that guy will try and kill her, but I take it shes the new leader of the 'punks' lol

Otherwise £4.80 for a ticket instead of the normal £7.25 made me more happy lol I was like bargin!!! But yeah film was ok, I did enjoy it lol.

Saw this today and really liked it, thought Rhona's character was really good, and badass, and half the cast of DS and TD showing up was great, though a few of them died too quickly for my liking, and Adrian Lester also played a really cool part in this. The movie was definately a fun ride and in Marshal, us brits have a director we can be really proud of (and he's from north too! No southern shandy drinking bastard is Marshall :cwink:), though Doomsday is probably his worst movie so far (its pretty obvious that much better version was left on the cutting room floor by the studio though).

There were a few plot holes in there of course, like any movie, and a few bizarre things also. The Reaper virus definately needed more explanation, were did it come from, what did it do to the people it infected, and why did it originate in Scotland (though that question sort of answers itself :cwink:). But the movie never went the cliche route, and paid homage to the movies it was inspired by, rather than copying them.

Hopefully we get to see the full version Marshall intended to release on DVD, but for now, this is a damn enjoyable ride, 7.5/10 for me.

  1. Just had a couple of problems with your......err problems with these scene's, the APC window was pierced first by the pick-axe of one the crazies, and he had hit it a few times before it smashed, THEN the arrow was shot and didnt shatter anything, just went straight through.

And about your 4th one, the car hadnt been used in 30 years, they were lucky it even started let alone went fast, also as Rhona's character said, "I'm tired of running from these bastards," the few times she did put her foot down, the other cars were smoked.

I saw this tonight, it's prologue is 28 days later meets EFNY, then it does some Rainbow 6 stuff, riffs on some Aliens, takes a detour to Cannibal Holocaust, then off to Camelot before segwaying into Gladiator and then into The Road Warrior for the finale.

Despite all the obvious "homages" and mostly dreadful dialogue, I had fun with the flick.
Rhona Mitra makes for one of the most credible and badass female action heroes ever put on screen and she is written the same as a male hero would be which makes a change. The action is decent and there are some cool moments, the music is mostly awful but the cinematography is good.

6/10

I've watched this a couple of times on blu-ray, and seriously, I dont get everyones beef with this film. I totally got exactly what Marshall was going for. An easy 9/10 for me.

7/10. Temendous B movie fun to be watched back to back with Planet Terror with firends over beer and pizza.

^Gotta agree, is it in the spirit of a grindhouse movie like PT, and I find very enjoyable.

Its a good pop-corn flick but Neil Marshall seems to have got 6 films he loves put them in a blender and out poped a script to doomsday. I was going "Ummm Escape from New york, oh now its Aliens... what the hell now its Escape from Thunder Dome"

Still was a good film to waste a few hours on a rainy day.

5/10

I ended up getting it on dvd still like it though its cool its random as its got all the escapre from LA, Mad Max and the medevil part feel to it, still like it though.

Bought it on DVD and watched it again yesterday, and i enjoyed it more on 2nd viewing, pretty cool movie and I just love watching Mitra.

Why didnt we english get the extended version that the US got though?

Unintentionally one of the funniest movies I have seen.
