DOUG JONE as SILVER SURFER is confirmed!!!

But he is almost there! It's impossible another actor take his place...

I'd say it is pretty much a lock also. I mean, the guy bought a bunch of Surfer comics and is researching the role seemingly heavily. I'd say it is almost certain that he has it, or is really close to getting it.

Still not an official confirmation but I'm 99.9% sure Jones is playing SS.

Yeah...now we just need the obligatory script review at Latinoreviews or somewhere else.

You'd be thrown off of any journalism-related position if you claimed it was...except Fox News.

Hey, Dan Rather should go work for Fox! NOT!!

Awww, I thought they had officially announced it. :(

If he is confirmed he may be doing motion capture for CGI or might be wearing a suit (seems to be his speciality).

Well, if he IS confirmed (and I bet he is, somewhere down the line. I wish the frikkin' studios would just SAY SOMETHING and put us all - including Mr. Jones, I expect - out of our misery), he did say that he would NOT be doing any green screen leotard or mo-cap or anything like that in any upcoming film project. So once again, I'm gonna go for a prosthetic suit with CG touches. Betcha. :D

I prefer the idea of Doug Jones acting in prosthetics (with occassional CGI touches) as opposed to a full CGI character, so I hope you are right. :)

Sorry, but I must inject some reality here F-boy; that's not true.

For example: Two summers ago we were 99.9% sure that Rachel McAdams had been cast for the role of The Invisible Woman. All of the trades--including our site here--pointed to that rumor being a solid reality. We had quotes from the actress and even inside scoops stating that Marvel and Fox had selected her as the front-runner edging out competition from actresses like Kerri Russell, Julia Styles and Kate Bosworth.

Suddenly, completely out of left-field came the news that Jessica Alba had been cast for the role. I distinctly recall that announcement flooring this forum for months. None of us knew that she had even auditioned for the part, let alone actually signing the dotted line. It was a complete surprise.

Now, while I personally believe things turned out for the best in the end, the point is that unorthodox announcements are the way of the movie industry. Like Rachel McAdams, Doug Jones is doing press that hints to a certain future with this franchise. But nothing is etched in stone.

We must wait for FOX and/or the official trades to do the official press release before we start saying anything is "confirmed".

Exactly. But I must say the studios are playing it pretty bloody close.

Exploring the Silver (Surfer) Lining with Doug Jones - "My practiced answer is that I absolutely love the Silver Surfer from reading him in the comic books," says actor Doug Jones, recently rumored to be playing the character in the 'Fantastic Four' sequel. "And it's a role that would be a dream job for me to play."

The actor explains that he wasn’t really familiar with the world of comic books but has since caught up on the exploits of Surfer.

"I own in my possession now volumes one through 18 of the Silver Surfer, which is a great character," says Jones.

Note: Remember I snapped a shot of him at the comic-con. I hope we'll see Adam Warlock on film someday.
