Iron Man 2 Downey's thoughts on Batman/DC

Its definitely more about the performances than the money they bring in. I think taking into account how much of a draw they are is what separates great actors like Tom Hanks from other great actors like Gary Oldman. A-listers can do both.

Robert Downey Jr. rebuilt his career the right way. He quietly got back on the good side of critics and audiences with strong performances in good, smaller movies. And then he transitioned back into blockbusters that were VERY successful. He got a lot of good buzz and recognition as Avery in Zodiac, and that wasn't the lead.

Downey played Avery in Zodiac.

And I don't consider the way he rebuilt his career to be "quiet" at all. He was in 10 movies in only three years (2005-2007) before he got his big Iron Man break. Sure, none of them were blockbusters and one of them was the Tim Allen Shaggy Dog remake (:hehe:), but that's still a ****load of movies in a relatively short time.

wow, i love RDJ and Iron Man, but damn thats kinda cold. just because he was too ****ed up to understand the movie lol. if my 15 year old sister understood the movie, RDJ should be able to. if not, he has a whole different box of issues.

i loved iron man and RDJ in it though. he did awesome and the movie was awesome. but this interview sounds like he got pissed that The Dark Knight ***** slapped Iron Man. pretty disrespectful. a simple "i didnt like it" would be fine, but a "**** DC" is kinda harsh.

I like Robert Downey Jr. even more for doing it.

He's carrying the Marvel brand name. At Comic Con, when I got his autograph, I was wearing a Spider-man shirt and he yelled, "That is a dead franchise!" It's all in good fun. He's simply being half-facetious and repping the character he's playing.

hahaha, I liked him before, but now I'm a little in love.

I find Downey's comments hilarious. I loved Iron Man... loved The Dark Knight... I think Downey was just poking fun at the movie because he's portraying a Marvel character. Nothing more, nothing less. Just some good old fashion hazing. :)

Whether or not that was the case he's still the man.

I would gladly take Marvel over DC any day of the week, but I think Dark Knight was a better movie. Although Downey was amazing.

One reason why Dark Knight was more enjoyable than Iron Man is because it wasn't an origin story. Personally, as much as I enjoy origin stories, when you seem them in a variety of different ways with the same character, it becomes a little old...

Another reason why Dark Knight was more enjoyable - Heath Ledger's portrayal as the Joker.

pretty funny comments, i think RDJ is the kinda man that fully takes on his role(not joking because of Tropic Thunder) and that he is playing the role of the fanboy for marvel, he is in competition with DC and batman. he probably got applauded the next time he walked into a marvel office, just for playing the role

RDJ is very funny, I think myself that the Dark Knight is a horrible movie, I find a great website about this crap, with various great articles and funny comments:

RDJ is a funny guy, I'm sure his comments were tongue in cheek to say the least.

Why do you think TDK is a horrible movie drax? Too different from your standard comic book movie? I can get why some people think that, it isn't exactly filled with explosive action, it's more a character/story driven film.

He's here just to find a cozy place for haters and go where they go just to drop in. I think he may be alone.

Plus, this discussion is stupid, knowing Downey Jr, he was kidding, I mean did you read it?

And what if he didn't like it? So damn what?

The thing about the site is that it doesn't have the weight of its sister site, superman returns sucks.com, because the general census is in the positive side (whereas Superman Returns is mixed at best)

So while humorous, it doesn't mean a whole lot to many people, because there's not a whole lot of people who 'hated' the movie. Some might think it's disappointing, some might find it okay, but not to the point where it's pure hatred. And it's goes beyond being here, when it comes to being a nerd.

I love Downey.

You'll be surprise how people don't get wit. And it's pretty damn obvious sarcasm too. That's sad.

I find this website great, I don't care about peoples taste about this movie, I have no idea if everybody love or hate this movies, I don't live for the others, I just give my opinion and this website for people like me who hate this movie, unlike you, I think it's a great to have this kind of website, the webmaster do a really good job.

The thing with the TDK hate, is that 9 times out of 10 people don't actually hate the film, they just hate the reaction to it and the fact that it is supposedly the "in thing" at the moment.

I had a look on that website, the bloke doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. An example. Some one posted on there about it's similarities to The Killing Joke. Then the guy who runs the site says it is NOTHING like TKJ. Has he even read the book? Has he even seen the film?

And also, he says the Joker was too grim, he wasn't funny enough. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't find a guy who gasses kindergartens and poisons boy scouts to be a funny guy. The ONLY person who should find Joker funny is himself.

No, it's not true, I have seen lot of people who dislike the movie for the movie himself and not about the hype (but I also know lot of peoples that hate this movies for that), I don't do a poll for to know their reasons but I don't think it's 9/10, you can see lot of them in various website (see my link).

Maybe for you it would be a surprise, but I'm really glad of the success of this movie despite I really hate the Dark Knight (really deeply), simply because I'm a comics fan and I think this success would have lot of positives things for the futur of superhero movies, now studio are aware with movies like Iron Man and the Dark Knight (sadly the incredible Hulk don't have the same success) that the great success is not just for Spider-man movies, but that lot of superheroes movies can do the same and I think we will see that in the futur.:yay:

For example for me it was a big surprise that Iron Man have so much success, in my country he is not very well know before the movie, but now lot of peoples know him, for hero like Spider-man, Batman and Superman it's very easy because everybody know them, but not really Iron Man, like a comics fan, I really like to see that.

Yea well I was exaggerating with the 9 out of 10 thing. But I guarantee a lot of people are like that.

But drax, why do you hate the film?

Yeah, even if it was serious as can be, I still like him. Probably even more if that was 100% serious. I might not like the opinion, but expressing it so honestly is certainly endearing to me.

But yeah, doubt it. It's probably his usual smart-ass comments. He did it for the lulz.

Trollin? Mind-altering drug addiction? Trying to be 'unique'? Making a poor attempt at a Downey? Who knows... Probably the first one, though.

It is different from the standard movie, but the funny thing is a lot of storylines in the comics are just like that. I always found it odd that some love the comics but complain when a film delivers the same kind of treatment. :o
