Iron Man 2 Downey's thoughts on Batman/DC

dark knight didn't live up to the hype? dang, what were you expecting dude?

i liked iron man as much as the next guy, but it just didn't satisfy as much as dark knight did. this is coming from a DC guy, so there is a little bias in what i'm saying.
LOL!
I read a few reviews before the film (non-spoiler reviews) and they were describing it as epic, film of the decade, best Comic Book Movie of all time, etc.
So I at least hoped to be blown away, but at the end of the film,I was like "meh,is that it?" lol :oldrazz:
I did like it,don't get me wrong, I'm just not as crazy about it like everyone else seems to be.
Iron Man pretty much nailed what I'd expect in an Iron Man movie, for me anyway.
Probably coz I'm not a huge Batman fan either (Batman fanboys are the worst :cwink: ) :oldrazz:

Robert Downey Jr. said what everyone's been wanting him to say for a long time.

....he understood the Prestige, but not the Dark Knight?

k. clearly joking

Iron Man is going to CLEAN Batman's clock in Japan. There I said it.

Robert Downey Jr. talking smack on Batman makes me hot :D .

I wonder why it takes so long for a movie like Iron Man to open in Japan. Is their movie slate that full? Seems odd to me.

the guy is hilarious, lol brilliant actor. Im a huge batman fan, so don't kill me for enjoying this, lol I don't think any1 should pay it mind, he's just being loyal to marvel and his movie. Same yr and all. But you kno he loved tdk too. O and altho I loved iron man, it held nothing on tdk srry

The concept of Iron Man in general is similar to a lot of sci-fi anime past and present over there, so yeah he'll do some decent coin.

On a totally unrelated note....I just heard Don LaFontaine is dead. He won't be doing the voice over on the next Iron Man trailer. Shame. He was so great.

"In a world......"

When TDK clears a billion WW the small anomaly that was the Japanese BO won't matter a whole lot.

I mean, the Mummy 3 did well in japan so... there you go. This kind of thing is never an exact science.

Do you really think it'll hit a billion?

I was thinking, has anyone from TDK said anything about the Iron Man movie?

I haven't heard anything. I doubt it was ever even on their radar.

TDK will hit 1 billion, it'll just take a very long time. It'll be playing internationally for a long while yet, and has about 15 million left in the US.

doubt it was on their radar? It was the number 1 movie of the summer before TDK. Someone must have watched it.

If they have they have they haven't mentioned it to my knowledge.

Besides, people involved in making films are surprisingly disinclined to watching many other movies.

I'm pretty sure Nolan and co. HAVE watched IM at some point and probably though 'not bad'.

i would just love to see what they thought of Iron Man, whether its positive or negative.

I would agree with others....they seem to be taking the high road. They don't need to do anything else.

The fact that the busiest thread in the Iron Man 2 section deals with the main actor talking about another comic book film says a lot. :hehe:

And DC Fanboys who got their panties in a wad, don't seem to get that Downey said this as a joke.

If you saw Tropic Thunder (which this quote was taken at a premier), and saw it's "viral campaign" you ought to know it was a joke, and sit back and have a laugh.

^That's cool. I could care less if RDJ was totally joking, totally serious or just half joking. Good for him. I just find it amusing that the thread with the most traffic in the Iron Man 2 section is one that is not even about Iron Man but rather another comic book movie altogether.

I'm definately in the camp that believes that RDK was just joking about this.
It's ironic that RDJ jokes about the DC/Marvel rivalry while Jon Favreau really is impressed by Batman BEgins and The Dark KNight.

I too believe he was being sarcastic or joking but other DC fans will take it too far and think he's serious.

Nothing more disturbing than what you just said.

Personally, I think Nolan probably despised Iron Man, or simply didn't care for it. If he has seen it, of course, which I doubt he has.

I would agree on that point.
