Rise of the Silver Surfer DR. DOOM/Julian McMahon Discussion

Hopefully now that the fixed some of the problems with him in the first, the third will have the Doom we all know and love.

Well, that was what people said when the first fiasco appeared.

If the next has the Fox/Story vicious combination, I wouldn't keep my hopes high.

Honestly, if they keep Doom exactly as he was portrayed in this film for the future... I wouldn't really have any complaints left. He was pretty freaking badass.

I have to agree, I thought he was going to be simply a tiny part of the movie, which I would just have to over look. But in the end, I thought he was amazing. Would I change somethings? Yes. But overall, I thought he was a big step up in this outing.

Plus, I'd hope that they tried to keep him the same as... if they tried to change him again, they so run the risk of making him even worse than the first.

In the first pic we have a glimpse of what might have been Doom. The others are some chap who added plastic swimsuit to his Roman centurion outfit, and a general Halloween mask with distant resemblance to that we know as Doc. Doom's mask.

Yeah I know...A lot of people liked the suit. It's an okay suit, but I thought it was little too stylized and colorful.

Joking aside, I agree that FF2 Doom isn't 100% and even if hardcore Doom fans say its not good enough. Where I disagree is that the suit looks like a plastic swimsuit/halloween costume combo (if you can look like that with those materials I'm getting me one of them). Instead i thought he looked pretty awesome.

Just to add a negative,his cloak/cape could have been a more emerald shade of green and the gold circle links more prominent

"Colorful" is an odd choice of words considering how drab and dark it is.

The getup in the first movie was technically more "colorful" in the literal sense.

I was really not liking Doom's outfit in this film. There was too much going on, imo, and it looked cartoony.

I've already posted my review and other comments, but after seeing it a second time this morning, I am still recovering from the two "geek attacks" from this movie. I honestly think as a fan of F4 the team in general and a fanatic of Dr. Doom plus having always enjoyed the Silver Surfer, this movie exceeded everything I had hoped for. Doom has been reborn as the kickass villain we knew he could be. McMahon portrayed him as the egomaniac we knew he could be and the little scenes of Doom and Reed's rivalry was pure bliss. Doom had great dialogue in this movie....his action scenes on the board were out of this world. When he

dismantled parts of the Great Wall of China and started throwing them at the team...it was insane!

Now, bring this Doom back in the sequel and officially crown him monarch with armies at his command and we are done.....we started off pretty crappy and come full circle and Doom is perfect....

Hell yeah, agreed, just have him take over Latveria in a fit of power-lust, he's all about that.

Still wish he'd get an accent, but I'm surviving that just fine as long as he stays this cool.

You seem to be the one person who still hated Doom in this movie. I kinda sympathize with you because I'm usually the guy who has the minority opinion against everyone else.

It was more than the outfit for me. I thought McMahon didn't go as campy over-the-top either. He played it low, more sinister. Plus we had Castle Doom, we had Doom on a quest for ultimate power (instead of a quest for "I wanna kill the guy who stole my not-girlfriend" or whatever the hell that was), we had him randomly killing people who only mildly annoy him just because he's a dick... even Ottman's music played him like he was a lot more seriously threatening this time, instead of big tooting trumpets. And most importantly, Doom didn't go around saying "Why the long face? A little science 101! Never better, Jimmy! Marco... polo? Right on cue! Be right with you! I'll think I'll get a second opinion."

He has something of an accent in the first movie at some parts.
