It was stoo-ped!
Atleast he didn't say "oh know you didn't?! Talk to the hand cause the face don't wanna hear it"Of course it wasn't the biggest problem.....but it is certainly one that I remember everytime the name Doom is mentioned.....and when I read that line in the novelization, it JUST DIDN'T FIT......it wasn't funny.....
The thing for me is I don't even really consider Doom in the first film to be unfaithful to the source material. I like how he was portrayed save for minor problems *cough* marco polo *cough*.
The way i see it the first film was more of a set up for Doom to lead him into his full glory for the sequel. Now given the information we have about the more faithful and evil Doom we have in the sequel, is anyone willing to accept the Doom from the first film within the context of how he is presented next? Instead of looking at it as two movies, look at the arc of Doom and how he's grown as a character in the movies. Surely you can say after FF2 that they did a good job developing the character.
Just look at Doom within context of both films and you can see how the FF1 Doom fits.
I'd rather have over the top and corny rather than unimaginative and nonthreatening.I'm honestly glad Doctor Doom doesn't act like he does in the comic....the comic version tends to be far too over the top and corny.

I just finished listening to the audio commentary on the Extended Edition last night, the one with Tim Story and Avi Arad and the screenwriters... and everybody agreed that they never liked that line and feel it was out of character. So why is it in there?![]()

THAT was why I puposely watched it without the commentary.....Michael Chiklis pissed me off enough with all his excuses on the theatrical cut....
Argh...I still need to get that extended version. I sold my original DVD copy so that I wouldn't have to have to versions of the same movie. I did the same with X-Men and Daredevil.
BTW, I saw the movie last night, so if there are any daring souls out there with questions, you can ask me now....or whatever.

Trust me, it's bad. Scenes are put into the movie out of order, scenes that were intended to replace one another are BOTH shoehorned into the film so that characters now repeat the same dialogue in back-to-back scenes, the "Wolverine" gag that even Tim Story and Avi Arad thought was stupid is now in the movie... the Extended Edition was cut together by a studio stooge on crack.

He couldn't be on crack. The Thing told everyone not to do drugs!
But, this is worth the buy. The features are awesome and some nice new scenes, even if they are added oddly.
