I just wanted to jump in and say....I loved the scene with Doom on the board and Doom killing the general and that other dude....really very Doomy

I've really liked the job Julian McMahon has done as Doom. Very few people can play a convincing bad guy. Julian just has a charisma and charm to make you really like him even though he's the bad guy.

It's like Kevin Costner, in this new film Mr. Brooks. I just don't believe him as a bad guy. To me it's just Kevin Costner up on the screen. He's a better actor when he's in films more suited to him like Tin Cup, or the Untouchables.

I think McMahon has done a great job in both of these movies. Yeah it's a bit of a change from the comics, but I think it works on screen. They kept all the important parts, the self obsession, the hatred of Reed Richards, the incurable vanity.

And yes his genious is shown on par with Richards. While the movie doesn't explain too much, the fact is Doom learned how to track the Surfer first, and without any help from Sue.

The only reason Doom went to Richards, was his encounter with the Surfer let him know that he was too powerful to face alone.

Did anyone stay after the credits to see if Doom came back?? I know he will probley be in the next one cause we all know that did not kill him. I was just wondering if it showed him come out or sumtin, thought about it after I got home and was kinda pissed I didnt stay.

It's sad as a fellow Doom fan to see other Doom fans rejoyce on such small "Doom moments". When a character is so severly ruined that the only joy we, as fan, can have is out of small gimpses the character on screen might remind us of what it could have been in better and more respectful hands, it's because it is being handle quite badly.

The last shot of Doom in the movie, is him sinking in the Ocean. But you can bet your sweet Aunt Petunia that he ain't dead.

I'm sure Mike Myers stole Doom closing line for his Dr. Evil in 'The Spy Who Sh****d Me' (Austin Powers 2).

I agree with Avi Arad, you can't reallt take a camp 'I wanna take over the world' villain too seriouslt these days since spoofs like Austin Powers and the like. Doom needed to be turned don a couple of dials and FF2 did that well enough.

There was barely any doom. There was Victor...not Doom. And Julian McMahon should be fired immediately. I said it about the first film and I'll say it with this one....

Doom used it to manipulate the tachyon pulse that was emitting from the board...

By the way..... friend Horatio Rome is saying in the Galactus thread that there is no scene in the movie that shows Reed and Victor working together, as scientist/engineers, working on the device to block the pulse. Am I the only one that saw this montage of them looking a displays on a monitor and Victor doings some work of his own on a laptop??

I actually think Mcmahon (and Chiklis) were the better actors in the movie.

McMahon was good in the Profiler tv show, was the more interesting part of horrible Charmed, and is really good on nip/tuck

Evans proved to be much better
Alba still has no talent beyond being on Dark Angel
and Gruffurd looks so lost

But pertaining to Julian . Its just crappy writing to he has to work with. I dont really think its no acting capability. Though a vast improvement over the first film, he still had some dumbass lines and nothing much to do. You cant be an awesome Doom acting wise if you were still written as crap.

I think there was plenty to give the audience a definite look into Doom's intellect...

*the fact that he found SS first by using the holes as a guide.
*he watched as Reed developed the trachyon and then built one himself.

thats enough for me to see.....and I'm not anymore observant than the regular moviegoer....

Julian is a fine actor, just not a perfect fit for doom. My biggest quam is his voice, which just isn't evil enough for Doom imo.

Agreed, Doom should have an iconic Vader-like voice. But since that's a tall order, is to too much to ask for an enhanced one rather than totally normal human-speak coming from the awesome costume? I had the same problem with Venom in Spidey 3.
