Just a question is black Doom the Doom throughout?

Or do we get green Doom in the beginning and then the cosmic Doom is the Doom at the end of the film?

Just asking because it looks like all the Black Doom pics are from that final act and the Doom meeting Surfer looks more like FF1 Doom.

You left out the part where Doom starts the war by invading neighboring countries, loose said war but defies the terms of the surrender for over 12 years. Then after foolishly tricking the world into believing that he has the cosmic powered weapon, the FF [with the US and UN behind them] attack. Sadly, Doom uses his own citizens as fodder, and even after he is taken out; outside forces continue to subvert the FF's best efforts at restoring peace to Latveria...

But I am more of a Lee/Kirby guy. I figure if it did not happen in their issues, then [for the most part] it did not happen.

I suppose he left that out because it would be mostly silly propaganda. The audience wouldn't be fooled with such a bad plot.

Let's not forget that the cosmic powered weapon was Doom's "lie" and the FF would not have been sent in if only Doom had lived up to his cease fire agreement from 12 years earlier. And sadly, despite the FF's best efforts, the civilians are still dying, but at the hands of the [let's call them] Doombots.

But of course we'd need the Latverians to be in civil war while members of the Four died by the day and only made things worse with a vast majority of the public wanting them back while... let's say SHIELD.... stubbornly refused to change it's failed policies.

Going by the pics and what has been said (McMahon is on records stating he has 3 different looks) I think Doom at the start has the basic look of the one from the first movie (metallic skin seen under normal skin, at least on his face) and Doom in the middle of the flick, when he makes a deal with the FF, seems to be somehow human looking (maybe the surfer cures him or something at that meeting in the trailer?), and Doom at the end with the power cosmic is the armored number.

Haven't read the novel so this is just a best guess.

SHIELD wants the FF back as much as the rest of us, and surely would have done so by now; but HYDRA [having crossed Latverian borders] keeps fueling the civil war among the Latverians, causing much more harm than the FF and thus keep the FF there longer than SHEILD had wanted. If the Latverians would throw out HYDRA, the FF could make a timely withdraw, leaving Latveria's affairs to it own people.

Thanks for bringing SHEILD into this, that really opens up the analogies...

And of course, the Latverians want by a large majority for the FF to leave, but although the FF claim they wish to restore democracy they refuse to listen to either America's or Latveria's and thuis continue their campaign, even when it is demonstratably proven that HYDRA form a tiny minority of those prolonging the civil war and killing them.

Again, the FF would be happy to go if only the Doombots and HYDRA would stop their campaigns of destruction and let the FF help the Latvarians rebuild.

I am sure many of the Latvarians recall the hundreds of thousands killed by the Doombots when Doom was in power, and do not want that to happen again.

And HYDRA has proven that only a handful of their agents can cause a world of trouble.

But it is quite the mess, and I am sure we all wish the FF were back home as soon as possible. I am sure it's not easy being head of SHEILD. If only Doom had honored the terms of his defeat years ago...


But on a more movie related note, how do YOU like the new Doom in FF2? Do you think he's is improved over the first one, a step backwards, or to the side? The same with his unmasked look - I assume you saw the photos before they were pulled? Sorry if you have voiced an opinion on this before, but I have not been following everyones views on this site.

I agree that we have not seen enough as of now, but from what I have seem I think it's a step in the right direction. At least he has a cape and hood and some body armor, which is better than the overcoat and dress pants from part one. I guess we will be seeing some good shots in about 19 days...
