Rise of the Silver Surfer DR. DOOM/Julian McMahon Discussion

*sighs*

no one gets my humor....

*walks out of thread*

I know you were joking...I figured you really weren't serious and yes I got the joke..little birdie...Tweety...yes it was funny :)..so funny, that Doom will let you live a little bit longer :) LOL

yeah in Latveria telling jokes like that would get you time in the dungeon.

And not laughing at mine around here can get you the dungeon as well....the SHH dungeon.........

:cwink:

All I can say is that they better do Doom justice in this film. They totally botched Dr. "Marco Polo" Doom in the first movie, with the lame excuse that it was an origin movie and they had 5 characters to develop as the reason for the poor depiction of the good doctor (which is really BS, since X-Men had more characters and it didn't feel as jagged as FF). Anyway, now that they got their 2nd chance, they'd have to make one of the most famous comic villains into a cunning, lethal, and fearsome villain.

I guess I'll know after June 15th...

Not much complaints if that is the final armor Doom wears on screen. Hopefully the characterization got an upgrade as well.

Question: Is Doom's assistant Leonard played by Hamlish Linklater in the movie?Last summer it seemed that he was signed to appear in nr.2 but since then i've not seen his name mentioned anywhere.

Did anybody else notice when in the clip of the surfer meeting sue that when the army attacks dr doom is standing next to the general?

Well that's a bit better, still i can't understand why the grilled mouth had to go(that mask has a morning-after-having-been-drunk expression imho, not quite imposing and fearful) and the red eyes(CGed?).
Maybe, if the acting and scripting is really good, and there's not much organic electricity around one could, if he concentrates enough, forgive for some seconds the previous movie and almost see some Doom this time...
Frankly i'm quite surprised, but still that's just a statue...

One of the newest clips from today that shows Susan saying to Victor the whole spiel about using her powers to expand a persons body until they burst...I LOVED Victor's reaction..."Give it your best shot!"....NICE!

So much for at least getting the character of Doom right.

The only people that can truly complain about the Dr. Doom look now are the people that are forum trolls.

Well, yeah, them and also people who like strong, well-written villians with good dialog and understandable motivations in their films. That second group really has a lot to gripe about... again.

Wassup VDX! ^ :)

The red eyes don't bother me. It reminds me of Doom 2099....

Looks great, but lately comic book movie action figures have had a nack for not looking like what is one screen. So, for me it is still a wait and see. It's still a 'wait and see' for me.

You guys can quote me on this...but from what I've been told by a little birdie that IS the final look of Doom on-screen. It's fully armored, not organic flesh. In his hand he's holding
a weapon molded from manipulated cosmic energy. The base he's standing on is a cutaway from the Silver Surfer's board.

LS, Is that Doom's costume then, or just how Dooms organic body looks with the Power Cosmic? My hope is the former, so that he can return in the third film in that suit as well...

Are you trying to say that Doom wouldn't say that? He said something VERY similar to that line of dialogue to an even greater threat in the form of the Beyonder...so no, that is very Doom like dialogue....any other people out there think that comic Doom would say that?

The line seems good, let's hope the delivery is somewhere near MUA's Doom (great acting voice that)

I don't. It is delivered in far too colloquial a manner. That's the thing they've missed (aside from Reed's & Doom's intellects) is the grandiosity of his narcissism. He ain't your typical guy. The typical guy says "Give it your best shot." Doom says "How dare you intimate assault upon my sacrosant personage! Perhaps you would enjoy flinging away your worthless life to demonstrate your theory!" ...yeah

My contact didn't specify, so I have no idea. I would speculate and say that it's sans the organic metal because as we've all seen by now, there's no trace of the organic metal on Victor's body now. He's back to normal...and how this takes place is not referenced in the novelization either (he's scarred and jacked up for the entirety of the storyline there, whereas here he's healed).

So we'll have to wait and see what inspires him to don this armor.

LS, didn't it say in the novel that
in the scene where Doom is looking at paintings of his old ancestors in his castle where each of them had a trademark mask and some sort of warrior armor...perhaps that is where he gets the inspiration

(he's scarred and jacked up for the entirety of the storyline there,).

Like this?

Yep^.

And yes Scrier, I forgot about that. I'm still thinking that somehow he might get a scar that motivates him to wear it. But looking at those pieces of artwork would be enough.

As long as the organic metal **** is gone I almost don't care HOW or why he wears the armor. Just give him the proper armor!

Yes, you are talking to one of the biggest Doom fans on the planet so I know how Doom talks...however, I also realize that if he talked that way the whole movie, would it fit in a traditional film, no matter how much it goes against his character not talking that way...but if they can give Doom good dialogue and show that he can rise above the others and act god-like and better than people. than the core of Doom has been unveiled.
