Dracula Year Zero Rises at Universal

Well I entirely disagree with just about everything you said. :)

So... I wonder if they'll still use this movie as a part of their shared Universe. If they back out now they'll look like idiots.

It's made decent bank and Hollywood Reporter was saying that Universal wants Luke Evans to stay on as Dracula.

I think what we'll see is an Incredible Hulk/MCU situation where it'll technically be canon, but outside of the main character (and perhaps Charles Dance) they won't overly reference it.

I liked Dracula Untold. It was no worse than the worst MCU film(s).

Luke Evans did some serious work with the below average script and it left me with some curiosity about where the series could go (if anywhere judging by the performance).

I give the movie a 7/10

I couldn't believe how bad this was. Went in expecting a 7/10 but some of the stuff was baffling how it made it past the script/editing room

Dracula is avoiding sunlight, gets pushed into house and its lit on fire, he walks out and its suddenly night time (Was gonna let this slide cuz this happens in so many movies)

kid watches mom fall off castle, when she lands, the kid is in the middle of the army on the ground watching. Somehow his captors ran him down the mountain into the middle of the army faster than a body can fall off it. Plus is somehow still alive after falling 100+ meters?

the armour that dracula finds in the church becomes an extension of himself? The armour is disintegrating as the stake gets nearer to it

Dracula suddenly has powers over sunlight? he splits the clouds to fry himself and the other vampires, somehow though he doesn't die. Apparently decides he doesn't want to die any more since he shows up in the present day.

also dracula being someones pawn? not cool

The sultan becomes an expert on vampires randomly at the end of the movie, knowing all their weaknesses

dracula loses his super strength in the end fight, but not his fighting skills?? But then turns into bats at the last second and owns the sultan? why didn't he do that right away?

1. It doesn't become night, the smoke from the flames just obscured the direct sunlight.
2.editing **** up
3.I assume that his armour disintegrated around his heart because it was a supernatural play on his weak spot. Perhaps vampires can be staked no matter what they're wearing in this iteration.
4,Dracula, the literary character, has always had the ability to conjur storms when it suited him. He never used this ability for the majority of the film, so I would assume that it was something he could only do after his transformation had been truly completed.
5.editing fuvk up again, also there was a deleted scene where Mehmed learns of the Vampire stories from Baltic lore. But as Sultun over a majority of that part of Europe during a very superstitious/religious era, it's not much of a stretch to assume that he'd have heard of their folklore.
6. Silver weakens him, but he managed to overcome it by pure determination for his son's sake. He could have perhaps spent all of his remaining energy on that Bat attack.

Honestly, aside from one or two editing things, it seems like these are real minor nitpicks.

I finally got around to seeing Dracula Untold, and I feel it deserves a 5/10.

I feel like Luke Evans keeps getting screwed out of breaking through as a big time actor. I haven't seen this film yet but it sounds like he did solid work in an otherwise crap film. He was great in the last couple Hobbit movies, but those things are so overloaded with characters that he gets lost in the shuffle. And he was probably the best villain in the entire Fast & Furious series but no one paid attention because the rest of the movie sucked and OMG JASON STATHAM SHOWED UP FOR FIVE SECONDS.

I hope something he does really lets him break through. I guess he's still attached to that Crow remake that no one wants, so that probably won't help, even if it does turn out to be good.

Evans is cool. I think he just needs to get that right superhero role to breakout. Unless he finds that right Oscar nominated film, I think the superhero route is the way to go.
Unfortunatley the one i think he's great for, Batman, he got passed over for.

I would like to see him show some range. Do an American accent, maybe something where he's playing a funnier more charismatic character

His solid performance as a tortured anti-hero gives me hope for his turn as the Crow actually. I'm more sold on the Crow remake now.

I enjoyed the movie as a Castlevania live-actioner.

Evans had an American accent in The Raven if I remember correctly.

Evan is the movie adaptation of J.G. Ballard's High Rise with Tom Hiddleston which might get a bit of indie award buzz next year.

has any one seen I, Frankenstein ? it was kind of like ven helsing I also saw Dracula untold story it was ok movie I liked I Frankenstein better,

I've seen I, Frankenstein, i'm sorry but that film was much worse than this, that one gets a 2/10 from me, while this film gets a 4/10.

I was entertained by it, but the film wasn't very good. This villain was incredibly dumb, did he actualy expect to walk away from all this alive? Or to still have an army to conquer Europe as he wanted?

When i comes to nit picking, i would say that the vampires were a bit too overpowered, which made certain things have less weight to me, though i do think the Director tried.

Dracula Untold is the worst movie I've seen this year, even worse than Amazing Spider Man 2.

My guess is you haven't watched some of the stinkers from January, Legend of Hercules, Ride Along and I, Frankenstein make this film look like a masterpiece in comparison.

Lord, why do you deem it necessary to defend the movie? Saying this film is better than those is NOT exactly high praise. You even called this a 4/10. That's an F in my book. You are comparing F's to other F's.

I never went to a school with grades that went from A to F, but when rating films that way, doesn't the negative score start at D, and then go to F? Then, an F would be around 2/10 wouldn't it?

Semantics aside, this movie was bad, worse than any of the worst MCU film by far, even when it comes to Castlevaiaesque movies, i actualy found Van Helsing more entertaining. Luke Evans was alright, i don't see a problem in him staying as Dracula.

Where I come from, a D is not a passing grade. A D is a failing grade too.

The movie didn't do that well either. Only made $56 million domestically.

Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters did similar business overseas. Keep talking about a sequel but it never happens.

Still haven't seen this yet & while I want to, I am somewhat less intrigued by all the things I've heard. I am curious as to whether or not they'll continue with their shared universe plans.

It would be nice to see modern (and competent) versions of Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Though, I do think the latter's remake with Benicio del Toro is a rare exception of the remake being better than the original.

Having watched this several times over the last few days, I actually really, really like it & don't think it's nearly as bad as some have stated. I went in with low expectations but I actually think it's a good film. There are aspects that could've been better but I'd love to see more of Evans as Dracula.

Would be nice to see him really transitioning into being evil. It's already all there, especially given his interaction with the Master Vampire and his...confessions, if you will.

Hopefully a sequel will surface...something where we get to see even more of what Dracula can do. I'd like to see more of his nasty side, more of those Bela Lugosi-esque qualities that he later comes to have. People forget this movie is set in the 1400s & there's a lot of ground that could be covered.

This movie wasn't that awful…Evans was good and the ending really gave nice set up going forward. The blind folded army was absolutely ridiculously stupid and Dominic Cooper was really awful…so yeah it was bad but had a few redeeming qualities.
