Dragon Age 3

I played about 4+ hours of Inquisition and all I have to say is it is soooo good.

I literally spent like almost 2 hours just talking to people in my camp, constantly realizing it was bigger than I thought it was.
Glad it's met USF approval. :word:
How does it compare with your boy Mass Effect?

Being a huge fan of the Mass Effect franchise, I gotta say.. Inquisition as a whole, beats Mass Effect 2. Sorry ME.

I'm loving it so far.

I'm worried I'll miss out on romancing Dorian though. Is there anything I have to be aware of to make sure I unlock him as soon as possible?

Don't be sorry, that's great to hear!

I have yet to fire this bad boy up. I feel like such a crappy gamer. I did get it at midnight though haha

I knew it would happen. the same as the past DA games.

I got sucked into the time hole known as........Character Creator. :o

I've probably started/deleted/restarted the opening level 20 times or so to get my Inquisitor "just right."

really wish they had something like that Mirror in DA2 where you could change your appearance in game. Also, face codes like in ME2 and 3 would have been nice.

fortunately, I was able to find a few "sliders" that others have posted online.

like these:

http://imgur.com/a/SYWxD#0

http://imgur.com/a/WBPBu#0

of course, those are on PC, so my character doesn't look quite as good on the X1.

but using those as a guide really helped! and I think I figured out why my earlier creations looked a bit "off."

think it has to do with adjusting the cheekbones, cheek shape, eye size, and eye position. my earlier creations all seemed to have a "sunken in" face or they looked "gaunt." or something. something was just a bit "off."

now, they have a more "fuller face". a subtle change, but it seems to have made the difference.

so, with my Inquisitors sufficiently cute enough ( cuz that's important when saving the world from the Breach :o ), I'm ready to start exploring the game. :word:

I'm about 60 hours in at this point and I've still got zones to explore so there's definitely a lot to do here.

The zones themselves are largely all pretty good with just 1-2 duds out of what I've done thus far:

[blackout] The Hinterlands is a fairly standard starting area that people may end up spending too much time in. Also the Exalted Plains is bit of a boring a slog through undead infested battlements. By contrast where I'm in right now just had a haunted house in it![/blackout]

The story missions have all been pretty good so far with a nice sense of scale and some cool ideas and locales. Related and definitely more spoilery I've run into Morrigan and [blackout] met my Warden's damn kid which was a good deal of fun. [/blackout]

There are some pretty good characters here but I'd say Origins and Mass Effect have the better cast.

Looking good is important! (Edit: to X-Knight)

Still waiting for my game, but already found out some sad facts. Like Qunari only having 3 different hair styles. And every single one of them looks like utter crap. So this player will sadly not ever touch the Qunari, unless Bioware releases some cosmetic DLC packs.

I think I'm gonna do the keep and fire this bad boy up here in a few. I just worry about doing a little bit and then not playing it for a while and forgetting how to do everything haha

Hairstyles have no place in the Qun.

If you say so.

yeah.....hairstyle option is definitely a weak point in the CC.

And it can't just be written off as unimportant, simply because it's not anything game breaking and nothing but cosmetic changes. You create an RPG with a character creator, that's where players will put in a substantial amount of time. Especially when you have to look at your character for 50+ hours. You'd either want your character to look as badass, cool or beautiful as possible. I can't count the amount of times I restarted Skyrim, because I wasn't happy with my character, and I thought I could improve him.

And when the community creates modifications, you'll quickly find mods that enhance the character creator with additional options, add tons of new hair styles, eye colors, etc. Those mods are almost always one of the first to be created. This stuff is important to a lot of RPG players. And it's really disappointing to see that Bioware apparently dropped the ball in that regard. Well, at least when it comes to the Qunari. They have the saddest and blandest options, I've ever seen in a game.

agree 100%.

same goes with long hair options for humans and elves (for females, at least, haven't looked at the male options).

there's only like ONE long hair option ( the one in the slider links I posted above ). and even that barely qualifies as "long" hair. hard to believe there's even less long hair option than DAO and DA2.

I really do hope Bioware releases a cosmetic DLC pack to include more options, along with some in game mechanic to change your character's appearance after you start the game.

you figure with the extra power and resources with the new gen consoles, there should be more ( not less ) options.

I have the urge to start Dragon's Dogma up, just to go through the character creator. That game had a ridiculous amount of options.

Haha, that's a great look above.

Maybe these games should allow you to change the look of your character half way through in case there was something you wanted to improve. Wouldn't really hurt anyone in a solo game.

The hair options are abysmal in this game. It's frustrating there's more variations of baldness or extremely short hair but barely anything for average of long size hair.

I've put in about 12 hours but I'm going to re-start since I'm not feeling this character, the "American" voice doesn't fit a mage, IMO.

I just met Hawke!!! And you do get to customize his/her appearance, which doesn't really import from DA Keep

I've heard reports that when you customize Hawke, it messes up your character's voice option or something.......

right. you shouldn't have to restart the whole game because you want to, say, make your hair color a shade lighter.

or if that eyebrow style you chose at the beginning is starting to bug you.

the magic mirror concept from DA2 was perfect. I don't see why you can't have that in Skyhold, your home base in DAI.

Yep. I had the American accent. Customized Hawke and it changed to the English accent. Loading the default Hawke didn't change the voice though.

UPDATE:

The voice actually reverts to the "default" for your race. English for Elves and Humans, American for Dwarves and Qunari. If you had the reverse, it'll change if you edit Hawke. You'll have to either put up with the change or just use the default Hawke

Here's mine. I usually start over a lot of times because I'm never satisfied with the way my character looks, but I like how he turned out.
