■ Maribel (voiced by Aoi Yuki) from Dragon Quest VII

DQH2_04-13-16_007a.jpg

The daughter of a fisherman mayor born in a fishing village. Perhaps because she was spoiled, she is highhandedly outspoken and says all that she has to say. But even so, she is a girl with a kind heart at her core. Her strong curiosity throws her head first into another world’s war.

She Has a Bad Mouth, But is a Reliable Young Woman
Maribel gets wrapped up in the war between Gywall and Orenka. She is put in a difficult situation when a large crowd of monsters attacks for reasons she doesn’t understand, but is not the least bit intimidated and does not hesitate as she deduces that she is being attacked as a result of her charm. While she expresses her dissatisfaction, her “doing something when the time calls for it” attitude is in good health even in a different world. Accompanied by Gabo, she joins a great war.

DQH2_04-13-16_007.jpg

While she’ll express her disinterest, she throws herself into a war together with the protagonists that saved her from a situation.

DQH2_04-13-16_008.jpg

Her highhanded attitude persists even in a different world. She’s also fully confident that she can win the war even if it were just herself.

Maribel Has a Number of Unique Special Skills
Maribel specializes in boomerang attacks and spells to attack from a long distance, but also has special skills that allow her to fight in close range. This highhanded young lady makes full use of her insults and slaps in battle.

DQH2_04-13-16_009.jpg

Maribel’s “Retaliate” attack slaps the enemy with a giant hand.

DQH2_04-13-16_010.jpg

Her “Shout Aloud” attack shocks the enemy with verbal abuse.

DQH2_04-13-16_011.jpg

Using her “Cross Cutter” attack, Maribel attacks with a backwards turn that lets her take distance from the enemy.

DQH2_04-13-16_012.jpg

Maribel’s special move, “Flames of Purgatory,” sees pillars of fire erupt from which she gathers flames to blow away the enemy.

■ Gabo (voiced by Mutsumi Tamura) from Dragon Quest VII

DQH2_04-13-16_012a.jpg

A young boy with athletic ability that surpasses that of an ordinary person. He inherited the power of the “Legendary White Wolf” that saved a certain town and always travels with his wolf. He has a very sharp intuition, and can sense surrounding disasters and nearby enemies, as well as where to find tasty food.

A Wild Child Who Takes to the Battlefield by Instinct
Gabo wanders into a different world with Maribel. Whether it’s due to his wolf blood that excites him on the battlefield, he joins in on the war with an assertive war cry. His sharp senses allow him to instinctively perceive friends and foes on the battlefield, and plays a big part in helping him sniff out food. However, he fights at his own pace and amazes even Maribel as his appetite takes precedence even on the battlefield.

DQH2_04-13-16_013.jpg

Gabo worries about what’s in his stomach even on the battlefield. Maribel harshly tells him not to get worked up about it.

DQH2_04-13-16_014.jpg

Gabo’s smells someone approaching with his sharp sense of smell. This proves reliable on a battlefield filled with enemies and allies.

Gabo Fights Together With a Wolf
Gabo can unleash powerful special skills in combination with his wolf partner. Gabo himself has astounding physical ability, and his sharp claw attacks and fire breathing make up his distinctive traits.

DQH2_04-13-16_015.jpg

Gabo’s “Roar” attack sees him and his wolf roar at and stun surrounding enemies.

DQH2_04-13-16_016.jpg

With “Fenrir Attack,” Gabo’s wolf springs down at the enemy with a series of consecutive sharp claw attacks.

DQH2_04-13-16_017.jpg

“Fire Breath” sees Gabo spit fire from his mouth, burning the enemies ahead of him.

DQH2_04-13-16_018.jpg

Gabo’s special move, “Sheep Stampede,” sees him call forth a pack of wolves with a whistle… or actually, no, it calls forth a horde of sheep.

■ Party Skills and Party Combos

In Dragon Quest Heroes II there are new ways to strengthen your party via “Party Skills” and “Party Combos.” Since Party Skills can be learned by increasing the proficiency of specific weapon types, it will increase party’s overall attribute values and prove effective in battle. The effect extends to the entire party if someone learns a Party Skill, so you should try and have all members of your party learn some.

DQH2_04-13-16_019.jpg

You’ll learn Party Skills via an instructor in the castle town of Zebion.

DQH2_04-13-16_020.jpg

“Bushin no Gouwan” is learned. The attribute value of the entire party is raised.

Done

Party Combos can be unleashed during battle, and see members of your party replace the character your controlling to let out a series of consecutive special skills, one after the other. This comes in handy when you want to continue attacking the enemy with characters that are at a distance, who will appear before them immediately.

DQH2_04-13-16_021.jpg

By continuing Tereshia’s attack with a Party Combo…

DQH2_04-13-16_022.jpg

…Gabo will immediately take her place and continue the attack.

■ Various Missions in the Field
DQH2_04-13-16_023.jpg

While exploring the field, you may encounter hordes of monsters and more difficult enemies attacking travelers. These kinds of events are called “Field Missions” and settling them will give players bonus experience points.

Square Enix has released new Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End details and screenshots, further detailing Dragon Quest IV character Meena, Dragon Quest VI character Carver, and Dragon Quest VIII character Angelo, as well as the game’s Quests system.
Get the information below.
■ Meena (voiced by Yoko Hisa) from Dragon Quest IV

DQH2_04-20-16_001.jpg

A famous, on the mark fortune teller. She is reliable and has a quiet personality compared to her wild and spendthrift older sister Maya. As someone who specializes in crystal ball and tarot card fortune telling, her mysterious power to see the future will guide the party when they lose their way.

Discover the Key to Victory with Meena’s Mysterious Power
As an excellent fortune teller, Meena’s name is widely known. She walks into a different world in search of her older sister Maya, from whom she was separated, and meets the protagonists. She relies on her fortune telling as a guide on the ever-changing battlefield. Often saving her friends, she’ll sometimes rescue the allies she foresees in a crisis, and other times warn them of a new enemy she sees appearing.

DQH2_04-20-16_002.jpg

Meena’s power is reliable in finding a way to prevail when in a pinch. With Meena’s suggestions, the protagonists can triumph.

DQH2_04-20-16_003.jpg

Meena confronts someone with a fearless smile. Holding a tarot card, she seems ready to fight, but…!

Use Meena’s Mysterious Tarot Cards on the Battlefield

Meena’s tarot cards can not only be thrown at the enemy to deal damage, they can also capture the enemy with magic. Cards can cause a variety of effects on captured enemies.

DQH2_04-20-16_004.jpg

Meena’s “Tarot Shuffle” rapid-fires tarot cards and collectively captures enemies.

DQH2_04-20-16_005.jpg

With “Demon Card,” Meena can damage captured enemies while weakening their defense.

DQH2_04-20-16_006.jpg

Her “Multiheal” ability uses magic to save the party when they’re in a pinch.

DQH2_04-20-16_007.jpg

Meena’s special move is “Catacylsm,” which rains down onto the battlefield meteors reflected in her crystal ball.

■ Carver (voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto) from Dragon Quest VI

DQH2_04-20-16_008.jpg

A roaming warrior who travels from place to place. A lively character, Carver will do things before thinking and forcibly move things forward. His appearance boasts of power, and he uses that power for his carpenter work. If it’s cabin-level, he can easily build it.

Take Action, Don’t Think About It! Carver Charges into the Great War
Carver continues his journey with his partner Terry. Pursuing rumors of a “high tower that reaches the heavens,” they arrive in a different world. Carver has a lively personality and doesn’t care about the minor details, and those traits don’t change in a different world. He opens his heart to humans and monsters living together, and whether his allies are man or beast, he’ll swing his fist to save those in need

Carver gets angry at the humans harassing the monsters of the forest, and together with Terry knocks them out.

DQH2_04-20-16_010.jpg

Carver stands on the front lines on the battlefield. He is a brave man who fears no enemy, no matter its power.

Carver’s Well-Trained Body Delivers Shocking Blows
Carver makes full use of his robust body as a human bullet. He demonstrates his might with powerful attacks like “Knuckle Sandwich” and “Flying Knee.”

DQH2_04-20-16_011.jpg

Carver’s “Knuckle Sandwich” thrusts his fist directly at the enemy.

DQH2_04-20-16_011a.jpg

With “Flying Knee,” Carver makes a big leap forward with a strong knee kick.

DQH2_04-20-16_012.jpg

His “Forbearance” ability enhances his defense and protects his surrounding allies with open arms.

DQH2_04-20-16_013.jpg

Carver’s special move is “Hell Rock Drop,” which sees a large rock emerge from the ground and shot down at enemies from the sky.

■ Angelo (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya) from Dragon Quest VIII

DQH2_04-20-16_014.jpg

A roaming warrior who travels from place to place. A lively character, Carver will do things before thinking and forcibly move things forward. His appearance boasts of power, and he uses that power for his carpenter work. If it’s cabin-level, he can easily build it.

A Playboy Who Can Change the Setting of Even a Different World to a Romantic One

Before he knows it, Angelo finds himself in an unknown world. However, being that he’s with Jessica, as long as he can continue his romantic talks, he won’t panic. While he is a playboy who seduces women with his naturally good looks and nauseating flattery, he is a chivalrous soul at heart who will put himself at risk to save a lady in a crisis.

DQH2_04-20-16_015.jpg

Angelo is not as annoyed as you’d expect about arriving in an different world with only Jessica, who is more so annoyed.

DQH2_04-20-16_016.jpg

Angelo fights valiantly on the battlefield to protect the ladies. He’ll even make playboy-like frivolous talk when formidable foes appear.

Angelo Can Attack from a Distance and Also Provide Support

Angelo can use his bow for long distance attacks, aiming and shooting to accurately strike the enemy even from afar. He can also inspire and support his allies by ringing his tambourine.

DQH2_04-20-16_017.jpg

Angelo’s “Shining Bow” sees him shoot arrows towards the sky and fall down from overhead.

DQH2_04-20-16_018.jpg

His “Cold Smile” sees him put on a freezing-like smile to freeze his surrounding enemies.

With “Mysterious Tambourine,” Angelo plays the music of battle to increase his allies’ tensions.

DQH2_04-20-16_020.jpg

Angelo’s special move is “Pearly Gates,” which deals holy damage to the enemy with a light in the shape of a cross.

Requests vary, from defeating monsters to delivering items and searching for lost items. Completing Quests will yield rewards. Since some rewards will prove useful on your adventure, you should try to actively take on Quests as you play.

Published 9 hours ago. 10 comments.
Transform into monsters.

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End information and screenshots, introducing the game’s three types of Monster Coins and advanced classes.

Get the information below.
■ Monster Coins

DQH2_04-27-16_001.jpg

In Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, defeating monsters drops Monster Coins, which can be used to summon monsters to fight alongside you or cast a one-time spell. In Dragon Quest Heroes II, Monster Coins are further evolved.

There are “Support” type Monster Coins that summon monsters to fight alongside you, “Assist” type Monster Coins that summon monsters to perform a spell or special skill, and “Transformation” type Monster Coins that transform the player into a monster for a fixed amount of time. (A yellow gauge will indicate how much time you have left.)

“Transformation” Type

By transforming into a Killer Panther, you can run gallantly across the field.

DQH2_04-27-16_002.jpg

Transforming into a Knight Aberrant will let you perform a powerful shield blow attack.

DQH2_04-27-16_003.jpg

Becoming a Slime Knight will let you strike the enemy with high-speed sword techniques.

DQH2_04-27-16_004.jpg

“Support” Type

Robbin’ ‘ood fights tough with his strong body.

DQH2_04-27-16_005.jpg

Bodkin archers fire arrows from long range.

DQH2_04-27-16_006.jpg

Skeletons keep persistent enemies at bay.

DQH2_04-27-16_007.jpg

“Assist” Type

Dancing flames engulf surrounding enemies in a swirl of fire.

DQH2_04-27-16_008.jpg

Candy cats make it difficult for enemies to target you for a little while.

DQH2_04-27-16_009.jpg

Canniboxes kill off enemies with a spell.

DQH2_04-27-16_010.jpg

■ Advanced Classes

DQH2_04-27-16_011.jpg

As previously detailed, the male and female protagonists can change classes, whether it be to a Warrior, Fighter, or Mage, and so on, but there are also “advanced classes” that let you obtain even greater power and learn various skills.

DQH2_04-27-16_012.jpg

In order to change to an advanced class, you must first gain experience in the basic classes. If you gain experience as a Warrior or Fighter, you’ll be able to change to the “Battle Master” class.

Or if you gain experience as a Priest or Mage, you’ll be able to change to the “Sage” class. However, in order to change to an advanced class, you must first complete the quest handed out by the priest at the class change office.

DQH2_04-27-16_013.jpg

■ More Heroes
Also showcased are Alena (voiced by Shoko Nakagawa), Kiryl (voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa), and Maya (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro) from Dragon Quest IV, Terry (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya) from Dragon Quest VI, and Jessica (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu) from Dragon Quest VIII. Dragon Quest Heroes II details fields, more facilities

Published 19 hours ago. 15 comments.
Rosa Woodland, Rao Wasteland, and more introduced.

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End information and screenshots, introducing the game’s fields and more of the facilities available in the castle town of Zebion.

Get the information below.
■ Various Fields

While we’ve already seen fields of meadows and deserts, there are truly different aspects about every region of this world.

And with a change in environment comes a change in the types of monsters that inhabit it.

Rosa Woodland – The Dark Smoky Forest

DQH_04-30-16_001.jpg

A thick forest covers the area around Kretia.

The sun doesn’t shine in the backwoods, and poisonous mushrooms are spread throughout. Rarely, there are also things that become gigantic.

Some of monsters that roam these woods take camouflage in the trees and shrubs.

Rao Wasteland – The Naked Land

DQH_04-30-16_002.jpg

A harsh wasteland not suitable for human civilization, and is connected to the northern three countries of Monstrea.

Its grounds are covered in lava and poisonous swamps, and giant crystals also stick out. Tough monsters adapted to the harsh environment roam these lands.

Amal Canyon – The Steep Mountain

DQH_04-30-16_003.jpg

A steep mountain overlooking the clouds, as well as the border that separates Felnock and Kretia.

Rocks rain down on the mountain’s narrow scaffolds, and it is said that there have been those who’ve lost their footing. Because of its high altitude, monsters that dwell in the sky often appear here.

Ihrim Snowfield – Where an Old Legend Sleeps in the Frozen Ground

DQH_04-30-16_004.jpg

A land covered in snow and ice at the foot of the sacred mountain Regen. The ancient ruins spread throughout still hold their form even today.

Tough monsters able to withstand the cold wander about protecting something.

■ Zebion Facilities

In the castle town of the suzerain state Zebion, which is the base of the heroes’ adventures, there are a number of facilities that will support players on their adventure. These include the “Church,” the “Orb Shop” to buy armor, the “Alchemy Pot” to enhance accessories, “Rikka’s Inn,” “Luida’s Bar,” as well as facilities like the “Quest Office,” “Weapon Shop,” and “Clearing House.” Additionally, there is a place where you can change your appearance, as well as a Medal King to exchange your “Small Medals.”

Orb Shop

At the Orb Shop, you can buy armor to increase your defense.

DQH_04-30-16_005.jpg

Alchemy Pot

At the Alchemy Pot, you can enhance your accessories with various materials.

DQH_04-30-16_006.jpg

Appraise Unknown Weapons in the Weapon Shop

At the Weapon Shop, you can of course buy and sell weapons, but you can also “appraise” unknown weapons. By bringing in what you come across on your adventure, you can check what sort of weapon you’re dealing with.

After an appraisal, unlike the weapons you buy at the shop, there is a number next to the name (+3 ,for example), it has a higher ability level, and it’s given a special ability that will aid in battle. In the event that you don’t receive a good appraisal on your weapon, you can “dismantle” it and return it to “pieces,” as well as “re-assemble” those pieces into a weapon.

DQH_04-30-16_007.jpg

Barter for and Obtain Materials in the Clearing House

Not only can you get accessories to enhance at the Alchemy Pot or materials necessary for Quests by defeating monsters or finding them on the field, you can also barter with the people of the city at the Clearing House.

By exchanging a lot of one material, you’ll have the chance to get less of another material.

DQH_04-30-16_008.jpg

Fight More Fashionably by Changing Your Appearance

By talking to Float-o-copier in Zebion, you can change the protagonists’ costumes and the look of your allies’ weapons. The changes are solely appearance based,

so since it has no affect on ability and performance, any of the changes you make won’t provide a disadvantage in battle.

DQH_04-30-16_009.jpg

Medal King

At the Medal King you can exchange the “Small Medals” you’ve obtained from various places for valuable goods.

DQH_04-30-16_010.jpg

Subjugation Report Office

Here you’ll be rewarded Small Medals based on the number of monsters you’ve defeated.

Awards Office

Here you’ll be rewarded titles and Small Medals based on the accomplishments of your adventure.

Dragon Quest Heroes II details world leaders

Published 6 hours ago. 34 comments.

Meet the kings and queens of the game world's nations.

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End information and screenshots, introducing the rulers of the game’s seven countries.
Get the information below.
■ The Kings of the Seven Countries

As commanded by the old prophecy, the kings of the countries divided into seven nations by the ancient war built peace upon the suzerain state of Zebion over 1,000 years.

Even in countries ruled by humans, coexistence and prosperity with monsters has been achieved without disrupting the peace.

So then why are these rulers facing war? Let’s meet the rulers of each nation that hold the keys to this story.

The King of Zebion (voiced by Yuji Mitsuya)

DQH2_05-04-16_001.jpg

The king that rules over the suzerain state of Zebion, which governs the world’s seven countries and bears the burden of protecting the peace.

He is a descendant of the sage that supressed the great war of ancient times, and is said to be the world leader in knowledge.

Cesare, the Prince of Gywall (voiced by Takayuki Yamada)

DQH2_05-04-16_002.jpg

Cesare guides his country as prince of the desert nation of Gywall. He is childhood friends with the protagonists, Razel and Tereshia, and although he is older, they get along well regardless of their social positions.

The King of Orenka (voiced by Tessho Genda)

Orenka is a country with a bustling harbor that prospers in trade. It has a friendly relationship with its neighboring country of Gywall, and people are actively coming and going between them.

The King of Orenka values the peace of his country and people, and even in war will personally lead the charge. He is a true warrior who will become a shield to protect his people.

DQH2_05-04-16_003.jpg

Even if attacked attacked by Gywall, the King of Orenka wishes for peace rather than to fight.

DQH2_05-04-16_006.jpg

The Cathedral of Orenka is widely known for its beautiful stained glass featuring the ancient prophecy.

The Queen of Kretia (voiced by Kikuko Inoue)

Kretia is a country ruled by a famous family of magicians since ancient times. Magic researchers from all over the world gather here, and as a country advanced in magic, they’ve accomplished developments in stealing the magical power of enemies and so on.

The Queen of Kretia herself is the world’s leading magic user, and is able to handle a number of high-level spells.

The country’s magical prowess is showcased all throughout the city. Some ornaments can be seen floating and rotating via fmagic.

The Three Countries of Monstrea

In the northern part of the continent are the three countries of Mohrias, Felnock, and Daral. In the distant wasteland beyond the castle walls of the human countries are countries built of only monsters.

Many tough monsters that have adapted to the harsh envionrment live in these countries, but monster kings of high intelligence rule these nations in peace.
DQH2_05-04-16_010.jpg
From the Rao Wasteland that extends north of Zebion, there is a wall that separates the north and south.

On the other side of this wall are the countries of Mohrias, Felnock, and Daral.

The King of Daral is admired as gentle king of character.

Dragon Quest Heroes II introduces giant and boss monsters

Published 6 hours ago. 20 comments.
Atlas, Drakulard, Dhuran, and more.

The latest issue of Weekly Jump introduces a pair of giant monsters and the big four boss monsters set to appear in Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End.

Atlas—a giant cyclops wearing a blue tunic and wielding a massive club—and Drakulard—a giant, hefty dragon—make up two of the titan-esque monsters set to appear in the game.

Apparently, the two are going to face against each other, with Atlas being the monster on your side. (It looks like you control him, but not via a Monster Coin transformation.)

The big four boss monsters consist of Dhuran from Dragon Quest VI, as well Myushado, Hell Kaizer, and Pruslas.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on May 27.

Dragon Quest Heroes II details multiplayer

Play across platforms on PlayStation 4, PS3, or PS Vita.

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End information and screenshots introducing the game’s online multiplayer component.

Get the information below.
■ Online Multiplayer Anywhere, With Anyone

DQH2_05-18-16_001.jpg

Dragon Quest Heroes II supports both cross-play and cross-save. Cross-play means that PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita users can enjoy online multiplayer together regardless of platform.

Cross-save means that users can upload their save data to PlayStation Network for use with a different SKU of the game. (For example, PlayStation 4 save data can be transferred to PS Vita and vice-versa.) With these features, you could for example play multiplayer on the big screen with your PlayStation 4 at home, and then level-up on the game with your PS Vita.

■ Two Types of Multiplayer

DQH2_05-18-16_002.jpg

Multiplayer in Dragon Quest Heroes II consists of two options. Users can play cooperatively in “Story Battles,” or up to four players can take on the “Space-Time Labyrinth” dungeon where various enemies appear.

(The Space-Time Labyrinth can also be played single-player.) During Story Battles, you can enlist the power of other players to get past difficult areas.

And in the Space-Time Labyrinth, you can take on various formidable foes and obtain rewards when it’s cleared.

Story Battles

DQH2_05-18-16_003.jpg

In Story Battles, you can recruit help from friends. Your recruited friends will replace your party members.

You can register up to three friends to your party before battle by talking to Rikka at Rikka’s Inn.

Space-Time Labyrinth

DQH2_05-18-16_004.jpg

To take on the Space-Time Labyrinth, you must have obtained the “Labyrinth Map” item, which you’ll receive by playing the story.

The player with the map can unite up to three other players to take on the dungeon. You can also take on the Space-Time Labyrinth on your own and go with your AI party characters.

You can set “Often Used Phrases” and “Stamps” in advance of starting up multiplayer to communicate with other players.
