But that is shifting as Hollywood begins to realize there are other people that can be exploited reached.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this, if this movie succeeds at the box office, more studios will invest in anime/manga adaptation which is what I'm mostly interested in.

The more set pics I see the more this visually resembles the original movie even though the plot seems more SAC.

The chinese setting, the market slums, batou and major even seem to share a boat scene. oshii and kawai are on set as well.

So they could be combining elements from different versions of ghost in the shell

could the raincoat scarjo is wearing be thermo-optic camouflage?

Kusanagi, hence being Japanese or mixed. Scarlett doesn't look ambiguous like an Olivia Munn for example.

But it looks like they're using that name which is sorta awkward if that play it straight. I just thought they'll just Americanize her name and I hope that's still an option.

I just think it's a US based graveyard. Motoko Kusanagi was an Asian American operative. Similar to Robocop, they either gradually or radically replaced her body with a cybernetic one. New looks, new ID (or not), new abilities.

For anyone who cares, filming on this movie has finished I believe. I wonder how long till a trailer drops?

Apparently according to an imdb poster oshii, kawai and kamiyama(director ghost in the shell SAC/2nd gig) are supervisors on the movie and kawai could possibly be doing the soundtrack.

The fact that so many of the original creators of the series are involved with this movie is actually kind of promising. I'm definitely interested in how this will turn out. I may not be able to catch this in the theater for for sure on Blu-ray.
