MI Part 1 was great; it's the most 'Tom Clancy of the four'. On the other hand, MI II was the worst; MI II was stupid fun I guess but at the same time, it's also misguided because it's the most Crusie centric of the four films.

YES. As I've said before it's also to me the only one that feels like the show.

I'd rank them M:I, GP, 3, & lastly 2 which is the only one I don't care for.

I also like the fact it's the only one where Ethan doesn't have to go rogue on the IMF. That plot device is almost stupid now.

D'oh, I think I responded to the wrong movie. I read it is MI:II, not MI:I.

People hate on MI:II a lot but I think it's actually my favorite of the series purely based on the fact that it's the most different from the others and the action is much more stylized. Having studied Hong kong cinema and the films of John Woo, it's clear to see how Woo took his classic trademarks and meshed them with a big budget Hollywood blockbuster. Slow-motion, Ethan wielding double pistols, female-driven musical cues, white doves, and top notch fight choreography. That final fight on the beach is brutal and thanks to John Woo's mastery of fight cinematography, we can actually see everything that goes on.

Best moment of MI:II is when Ethan disguises the villain's right hand man with a mask of himself and the villain shoots him, thinking it's Ethan.

It's Woo but it always felt to me like seriously watered down Woo. I went in expecting The Killer with Tom Cruise and remember being very disappointed.

That said now that I own the other three I should pick it up and give it another shot. I haven't watched it in quite some time.

It's watered down Woo simply because of Hollywood studio dynamics and ********, but having watched The Killer recently, there are some major similarities in direction and some epic moments.

I wasn't exactly pinning the blame on him but I still think it's his weakest Hollywood effort aside from Paycheck.

Simon Pegg was hilarious in the movie... Loved the Hologram wall part where he nearly got caught. Oh well, that's Greg's opinion. He's clearly in the minority, though.

Yeah just opinion. It was all just stuff that bothered me when i watched the movie and stuff me and my girlfriend made fun of the movie for. I like the first one the best, we both just didnt like this one. Ohh i liked the Incredibles a lot when i saw it ( : wish there were a sequel to that.

I think it's easily the best. Full of tension, action and well-plotted too.

MI 1- The most espionage of the four movies. People complained for years that they didn't know what the hell the plot was about.

MI 2- The most stylish of the group. Woo shows off what he's most famous for in Hong Kong.

MI 3- Cruise/Ethan focus movie but the team also contributes alot.


MI 4- Still haven't seen it.

As a strong fan of Asian cinema...I actually prefer MI:II over MI:1 myself as well.

Yup. It has a ver different aesthetic compared to the others, but the central story is very good "Mission: Impossible" material but with less plot contrivances and a very simple romance.

Seeing as how most of his big budget films of the past 2 decades have been turds...I would suggest he do so.

You kidding me? They overused the masks to the point where I saw it coming a mile away.

Oh, I saw it coming, but that wasn't my point. The build-up and the reveal made for a pretty cool moment that starts off the final chase/fight.
