That's awesome to see all those who have worked on the franchise have a direct role in this film. Beautiful.

Tricky is in this movie!

Is this film going to have a trip hop soundtrack?

I heard tricky will be playing Pazu, maybe he'll contribute tracks as well.

So all my problems with the casting aside I wonder.....Are they going with the more brooding and analytical Motoko of the movie or the more "free spirited" Motoko of the manga?

I'd personally like to see some humor injected into the majors character for a change. the anime adaptations some times take itself too seriously. maybe some humor along the lines of the 5th element.

For anyone who cares, filming on this movie has finished I believe. I wonder how long till a trailer drops?

Apparently according to an imdb poster oshii, kawai and kamiyama(director ghost in the shell SAC/2nd gig) are supervisors on the movie and kawai could possibly be doing the soundtrack.

rupert sanders, scarjo, mamoru oshii, tricky, kenji kamiyama, kenji kawai

There probably won't be any cyborg lesbian love scenes.

Probably the former.

They even seem to be recreating the Yacht scene from the first film/manga.

Not the infamous scene with Motoko and the other girls but rather the one with Batou. :funny:

**** that.

If it's not PG-13, then I'll be very surprised (and impressed).

A super risky and controversial manga adaptation and R rated.... good luck with that.

But you have the highest grossing actress of All-times as the lead. And Lucy was R. Studio wouldn't be at a huge risk.

Also, Deadpool. Huge R-rated hit film that bucked the traditional PG-13 comic book adaptation format.

remember anime movies have yet to prove they can succeed, even with the highest grossing actress ever, it'd take major balls to go R rated, I'd be impressed if they did though.

Also they most likely want this to be at least partially "mainstream" and appeal to a wide audience. And this most likely will cost more than those other films to make as well, so it needs bigger box office returns just to break even.

Plus, they would even let the last two Terminator films, or the Robocop remake be Rated-R, and Shane Black apparently had to fight to keep his upcoming Predator movie Rated-R. And these are long-standing established franchises that were specifically set up to be Rated-R from the beginning.

A better analogy occured to me is Blade. It came inbetween the waning DC movie success of Batman sequels and before Ironman started the Marvel reign.

Ghost In The Shell should be rated R because the material is (and in some cases probably X-rated). Just because the Terminator franchise which was already declining and Robocop, a desperate and unnecessary remake flopped does not mean they will shy away with GITS in the light of Deadpool's success, the impending Wolverine movie being rated R and several other R-rated successes and potential successes coming out. There is even talk the in development X-Force movie might be rated R.

I don't know when or how hard Shane Black fought to get Predator rated R but I'm guessing it was before Hollywood realized there was still a sizable audience for it.

Hope They Go To Comic Con to Show A Teaser , Stills and Such Things then maybe the movie won't getting so much Hate anymore

I think an action movie with scarjo as the lead is a sure thing to a studio. You would make more with PG-13 but you can able the better film with an R. And if scarjo wears(or doesn't wear) what I've seen this series has the lead wearing I'm sure there will be an interest. Hell IM sure I know why ppl watched under the skin. Paramount isn't known for R ratings so maybe they will be willing to try something different

Yeah and don't get me wrong, I'd be perfectly happy if this were Rated-R. But I just doubt that it will be. I also doubt that Scarlett will be wearing the Major's more, exotic, attire (and she doesn't always dress like that even in the other versions). She might wear something similar in a scene or two, as a homage basically. But not the whole time.
