DTL Season 5-Week 1 (Set 2)

Ah, okay. Was a little confused there for a sec.

Team Alpha Wolf Squadron
X

Harl had a good grasp of characters and pretty solid strategy. AS had some good ideas, but tended to either under or over estimate characters on both teams.

Kaboom's strategy relied on too many things having to go right against very powerful characters. I got the feeling X under wrote a couple of opponents, but was nonetheless still solid.

I really like this new comment as we vote thing.

My votes...

Harlekin
Myself

AnnoyingSilence - Buddy, you had the raw power in Thanos, but you just didn't apply it well enough. Harlekin also has a far more consistent team. Yours is all over the place. Multiple Man in the middle of all that? Eh.

Anyone have anything else to say about my write-up?

Love to hear it.

Pig Latin!

Speaking of pigs, how's your mom doing, Khell? ;)

She's not a pig farmer anymore. Your siblings grew up and moved out of the house.

When you see that many people suckling on a woman at the same time, I'm comfortable calling em' pigs.

Yeah, it was nice of my mom to let your freakish mutant of a mother come and feed her kids.

X and Alpha Wolf

Accidentally deleted my comments the first time -- retyping them more quickly, hence the somewhat fragmented sentences.

Liked Harl's writeup style with the rounds. His strategy all seemed pretty sound. I know we're trying to keep things short, but I would still kind of like to know what attack your team used to take the opposing guy, not just "Here's why my guys are powerful enough to pull it off." Talking about the take down of Thanos in particular.

AS's was alright too, but I felt he underwrote Harl's ubers a bit. They seemed to go down too fast, or without really doing much.

Harl wins the debate because AS gets frustrated. "I quit" is becoming his catch phrase. Whatever happened to "BIAS!".

Liked X's writing style. Kept it brief while still giving it a dramatic feel -- very enjoyable read. Strategy all seemed solid.

I know X made a case that he could dictate the matchups based on his teams strategic skill and leadership -- I thought Kaboom could have argued that he would have more control by virtue of having one of the best teleporters in this thing, but I didn't really see him make that arguement. Maybe matchups didn't matter so much -- X's ubers match up alright against anyone, and I thought his lower levels had the advantage on most of Kaboom's, except maybe Rose Tatoo.

Kaboom's was well done too, a couple mistakes which X pointed out effectively in debate. In particular, there's no "Ambrose Chase de-powering device" -- didn't he die because he was in some weird "fictional reality" based on sci-fi movies, and "the black guy dies first" in a sci-fi movie? That's not something you can cart onto the battlefield.

X and Alpha Wolf

I'll edit in some comments in a minute -- I want to make sure I get my votes in before the deadline (although if it's not until midnight Pacific time I guess I'm fine)

Deadline won't be until tomorrow night.

By the way, we don't need to vote for ourselves. Used to be we did, but that's been dropped -- it's assumed everyone would vote for themselves, so those votes just cancel out.

Yeah, it was flat out widescale reality manipulation, really.

I'm going to have to give it to Team Alpha Wolf Squadron and X. Although Kaboom did great, I wasn't convinced his team could beat X's. However, I do think that X severly underwrote his opposition, and I really, really don't like inexplicable separation of teams into 1v1 fights. I believe that fighting as a team factors heavily into the DTL (Dream TEAM League) and I plan to vote accordingly. I also think Kaboom was correct in his claim that his team had overwhelmingly better leadership, something X didn't account for with his separation into seperate fights.

You do know who Adam Warlock is, correct, Leaguer?

The guy who can organize teams to beat Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet?

Getting a bunch of heroes together to stop a villain is hardly impressive.

Regardless, I fail to understand how wandering around aimlessly through a jungle reflects the top-notch leadership of Spartan.

Because taking down one of the most brilliant and cunning beings in any fictional universe, who's got ultimate power, is just like teaming up to take down Carnage, right?

That's oversimplification to nearly ******ed levels.

Kaboom's team didn't have much choice considering they were scattered and dissected by a team with far greater leadership, power, and ability.

Harlekin's write-up was just flat-out superior to AnnoyingSilence's, which just seemed ill-concieved all-around.

X nearly lost my vote for putting a link that didn't work (at-least for me), and others that gave very little knowledge of the characters themselves. Otherwise, I feel good-will is hard to come by on his team, and expected to see that aspect of it exploited, and his choice of match-ups seemed somewhat unkind. Be he was still more convincing then Kaboom, and his team was clearly the more powerful one.

I would have liked to know more about Spartan's precognitive abilities.

I still need to read the other matches. I'll do it more quickly now, if they don't get locked before I get to them.

I nearly lost your vote because a single one of my links didn't work?

Boy, you're very generous and forgiving, Gog. Thanks for your overwhelming understanding and charity.
