The rules:
This is one of two threads containing matches.
These threads will be in use for 7 days. Days 1-4 (Nov 15-18) are strictly setup time for owners to post their battles, plead their cases, tell us their team’s strategies, breakdown the match ups, and do whatever else they can/want to do to try and convince you that their team would pull out a victory. Please, let the owners do this on their own with no help. Debating cannot begin until both owners post battles.

On Day 5 (Nov 19) I will post and tell everyone that voting may begin. Any votes cast before I open voting will not count. Look over the matchups and read the strategies, and take into consideration how in-character each character is. Afterwards, use your best judgment to decide who you think has the best chance to win the match. (Note: The length of a writeup is at the discretion of the owner. Do not punish owners just for having a shorter writeup.)

To vote, post the team names you think will prevail in each match. Remember to vote for all matches or your vote will not count! The teams with the highest vote total at the end of the 7th day (Nov 21) will get a W while the other will get an L. (Equal votes will result in a tie.)

"This is unconscionable!"

Ambrose sighs and tries to ignore the woman's raging yells. "Your powers will return when the match begins."

Maxima: "No one can do this to Maxima of Almerac!" She slams her hands down on the table of the conference room they're in, but only hurts her hands. A sensation she's not at all familiar with as rubs her hands and finger, not at all happy with herself, her situation, or those around her. To say the least.

Proctor: "Your anger will do nothing to help the situation."

Maxima: "Do not speak to me that way!" She swings her open hand at his face, but he effortlessly grabs her wrist and holds it.

Proctor: "Focus." It's his only demand.

Anger flushes across her face, but then so does something else. A little begrudging respect. And a ton of sexual attraction. Suddenly, she smiles slightly at him. "I wonder how you'd handle it."

Proctor is confused. "Handle what?"

Maxima: "Me, with my powers."

Wanda: "Oh good god."

Shanzar: "Indeed. Let us focus on our enemies before this situation becomes terminal."

Chase: "You mean 'interminable'."

Shanzar: "I know what I said." Of all the spells he's tried since arriving in the human city, he casts the one he knows will actually work. Before them appears the images and information about their opponents.

Instantly Maxima slowly walks over to one. "Mmmm, I like this one. Reminds me of an old 'friend'. Even his abilities are similar. I'll make him mine."

Wanda just rolls her eyes. "I will focus on my brother. If anyone can stop him, I can."

Ambrose: "Your brother? Not a good idea then. He'll know as much about you as you know about him. Better that you tell me everything about him and let take care of the situation."

Wanda: "No."

Ambrose raises one hand. "I swear, I won't do anything to permanently harm your brother, and will only use enough force to disable him."

Wanda just stares at him. "Someone needs to fight Engineer. From what I understand, you'll be much better at it."

Wanda: "But-"

Ambrose: "I have a feeling my fight won't last very long."

Battle-Time here...

When the battle starts, Shanzar opens a portal leading to Spartan. If Spartan teleports Shanzar to him, Maxima can use the portal to surprise Spartan. If he teleports Maxima, Shanzar can follow and back her up. If both, then Spartan will have them right where they want him.

Maxima against Majestic is going to be an epic match. Maxima can hang with Superman. She was the only Leaguer besides Supes to actually hurt Doomsday. Add to that her telepathy, and she can start screwing with Majestic's mind. Maybe even make him think that Spartan is the enemy.

Shanzar will match up well with Spartan. He's physically very strong, and so are his spells. He can bring himself back from being teleported away, and fight in various inventive ways like cutting Spartan in half with a portal or possessing him.

Anarky can have various traps and weapons ready to fight his enemies. But all Proctor has to do is screw with his brain from a distance. If it does come to a fight, Proctor can't be killed and his Blade can cut through any weapon or trap.

Wanda, knowing how direct her brother tends to act, is ready for him. Quicksilver runs up to her expecting a trap, but hoping to either talk her out of the fight or take her down as painlessly as possible. But before he can get to her, he runs smack into Chase's distortion field. But instead of slowing him down, Chase decides to end the fight and speed Pietro so he slams into a wall at a speed much greater than he's used. Of course, Chase could stop him, or do any of various things (including putting a bullet in his head).

Of course, Wanda's a natural at disrupting whatever Engineer sends her way. Especially if she sticks with Ambrose inside an acceleration field (which would make everything around the field, like Quicksilver, appear slower, relatively speaking). With Pietro down, they can both focus on helping Proctor (if he needs it and isn't already helping them).

What happens next can occur in different ways. If Maxima or Shanzar finish their fight, they can help the other. Also, Proctor can teleport to help them as well while the others stay in an accelerated field so that Engineer's attacks come at a very slow rate. This gives them plenty of time to hold out until the uber fight is over and the entire team can focus on taking out Engineer (which shouldn't be hard with one or two of Shanzar's spells).

Chaos & Order win.

You missed my linuep change. I swapped Zauriel for Blink. Should read: "Blink (MR) -- teleportation"

(Blink wasn't on Nightwing's team, but I added her in place of Captain America. Since Nightwing is dropping the team -- as opposed to merely having me sub for a week -- I assumed it doesn't matter if I make make minor roster changes to make it easier for me to work with them.)

Heroes of the New Age guest writeup
Keeping this brief, because I really ought to be working on writing my dissertation . . . .

Prep-Time
The Heroes find themselves standing on the roof of a tall building. Looking down below them, they see a large, brightly lit metropolis.

The Atom: Well . . . based on the language on those billboards, we're obviously somewhere in the Far East. Japan, or China maybe. Can anyone narrow it down?

Psylocke: I can. This is Tokyo.

Ray Palmer starts to reply, but the conversation is cut short by a blinding flash and an ear splitting boom, as a bolt of lightning strikes the corner of the rooftop on which they stand. Blinking away the afterimages, the Heroes see that where once there was empty air now stands a glowing golden figure, seeming to float a few inches above the roof's surface.

Superman:Who are you?

The stranger smiles mysteriously. "There are those who call me . . . Tim." The Heroes don't appear to share his amusement. Perhaps they aren't Monty Python fans. "Look," says Tim, "who I am isn't important. management may be in flux, but that's not really your problem. The rules of the game are the same as ever. The five of you must do battle against five opponents. I'm here to tell you who they are."

His eyes flash, and the Heroes feel a crackle of static electricity running across their skin. Suddenly, their minds are flooded with a rush of words and pictures -- images and descriptions of their opponents. The effect is disorienting, and it's several seconds until they've recovered their bearings enough to speak. When they do, they each give voice to the same thought.

"Oh, crap."
"They're . . . so powerful."
"I think we may be out of our league here."
"What the hell are we supposed to do against these guys?"

Tim frowns, but then gives a nonchalant shrug. "Hey, don't blame me. I didn't pick you chumps."

And with a flash, he's gone.

The Battle

My strategy:

The battlefield is a huge city, so it will take Khell's reg-level guys a long time to find mine -- unless Cable telepathically locates my team and teleports them there. (Death Wolverine can teleport himself there, but he still won't be able to catch my team's scent from the other side of the city.) I also expect Cable will be telepathically maintaining communications among Khell's team. So that means my number one priority is to take Cable down. My strategy is to take the fight to Khell's ubers right from the start, and take them out fast. After that, they'll be plenty of time to deal with his lower level guys.

One key asset my team has is that both my ubers have high-level superspeed. Remember that while Silver Surfer has great flight speed, we've ruled he doesn't have combat superspeed the way guys like Superman and Martian Manhunter do. He can't throw attacks as quickly as them, he can't react to attacks as quickly as them, and he can't perform other actions as quickly as them. As for Cable, in previous weeks Khell and I have argued back and forth about whether he has superspeed, and I'm not going to waste a lot of time rehashing that here. I will reiterate one point, which is that Khell himself admitted his only evidence that Cable had superspeed was the fight with Lightmaster, a fight in which Cable actually got hit several times before teleporting Lightmaster to the moon. The only attack he blocked was the one where Lightmaster was flying back from the moon, where Cable new which direction he was coming from and roughly when the attack would occur. Maybe there's more than one way to interpret that fight, but at the very least we can say that Cable's superspeed isn't nearly as well established as Superman's or Martian Manhunter's. So suffice it to say I think my ubers will get the first actions.

Martian Manhunter and Blink vs. Cable

As soon as the battle starts, Martian Manhunter telepathically scans the battlefield for Cable. [Even if Cable can shield his mind so thoroughly that other telepaths can't find him -- which I'm not so sure he can -- he will still start the battle with shields down because of the "no uber powers in prep-time" rule.] The Martian telepathically transmits the exact coordinates to Blink, who immediately teleports the two of them to Cable.
The instant they appear J'onn goes on the offensive, blasting Cable with a shot of his Martian vision and following it up with a superspeed barrage of punches from his suddenly extra-massive fists.

Martian Manhunter immediately hits Cable with a shot of Martian vision and starts pounding him. Of course even if he's fast enough to catch Cable before the mutant gets his shield's up, Cable will start regenerating the damage right away. But force and speed of J'onn's attack is certainly enough to occupy Cable's attention for the fraction of a second it takes Blink to hit him with a teleportational spear -- a spear that teleports the techno-organic half of his body right off him. Just as soon as she throws the spear, Blink blinks herself the hell out of there -- she knows that if Cable does withstand her attack, then sticking around for his counter strike would be suicide.

[Note that Blink has teleported parts of objects away before. One instance I remember is when she teleported away portions of Holocaust's armor/life-support suit during the Age of Apocalypse, and my eXiles Blink is the same character except at a later point in her history, so she's even more experienced. Also note that my team is willing to be pretty ruthless with Cable, since he's a high-level regenerator.]

At precisely that moment, Martian Manhunter hits Cable with a psychic bolt. As strong as J'onn's telepathy is, Cable's may be stronger -- but it's hard to focus on shielding his mind when his body is literally being torn in two. Cable screams in pain from the simultaneous assault on mind and body. Barely holding himself together, he instinctively reaches out with his telekinesis, drawing in pieces of metal from all around and knitting himself back together. His healing powers are working overtime just to keep him conscious long enough to rebuild himself. After taking that kind of damage Cable knows that until he's in no condition to withstand another sustained superspeed barrage from Martian Manhunter, and teleports himself to some distant corner of the battlefield to give himself time to recover.

As he arrives Cable telepathically scans his surroundings and confirms that his adversaries are nowhere nearby. And he's already starting to feel his strength returning. His foes may have gotten the drop on him once, but not again. He prepares to teleport back into the fray against Martian Manhunter, knowing this time he'll be the one launching the surprise attack.

But then, Cable freezes. His synapses are overloading, courtesy of Psylocke. The mutant ninja is inside his brain wearing Atom's shrinking suit, and she's jamming her synapse-frying psychic katanna directly into the very heart of Cable's central nervous system. Blink's teleporting away of Cable's techno-organic half, while a legitimate attempt to take him down, was also cover for this second line of attack as she teleported Psylocke inside. With his neurons all overloaded, Cable can't even think, much less counterattack. Perhaps his healing power would restore him to consciousness once Psylocke pulls the katanna out, but as long as she keeps it held in place his brain is non-functional and he's out of the game. This obviously means Psylocke can't leave to participate in the other battles either, but that's a trade off my team is happy to take.

A few notes:
- I know Atom's powers are now internalized, but I made sure to specify in the Transactions thread that I wanted Atom with the shrinking-power suit.
- Even adding the shrinking power to Psylocke's power set, she's certainly no more than a good medium. For comparison, Atom 1 Million has shrinking and extreme duplication, at the Ray (Ray Palmer) has shrinking and the Ray's energy powers, but both are still mediums.
- Blink once teleported grains of sand into every part of Hyperion's body, so simply teleporting Psylocke in while 'porting part of Cable's mass away should be no problem.
- Psylocke didn't show up on Cable's telepathic scan because she has total immunity to telepathy. Perhaps he could have located her shrunken self by feeling around telekinetically inside his own body, but he'd have no reason to do this. The only opponent he'd expect to be attacking him from the inside would be the Atom, who of course would have shown up on his telepathic scan.
- Cable's telepathic shields won't protect him from Psylocke's attack, since it's not a telepathic attack. She used to have telepathy and a "psychic knife" that disrupted people's minds, but now she has telekinesis and a katanna made of telekinetic energy that disrupts people's brains. In other words, she's attacking his brain physically with TK. Telepathic defenses won't stop it, and his telekinetic forcefield won't block an attack that orginates inside him. And as soon as the katanna hits his brain it will shut him down, so he doesn't get the chance to telekinetically undo the damage.

Silver Surfer vs. Superman
Where were Superman and Silver Surfer during all this? At the outset of the battle they took to the air above the city, and as soon as they saw each other the fight was on. Superman uses his speed to keep moving too fast for Surfer to get a bead on him. [Again, Surfer doesn't have Superman-like superspeed reflexes according to our ruling.] So while Kal-El zips in and out battering Surfer's silver body with punches, the Surfer's energy blasts keep missing the mark.

[Note that Superman will know a lot about this version of Silver Surfer and how he fights, since this was the Surfer who appeared in the pages of eXiles and with whom Blink is quite familiar. So it's not surprising that Superman has come up with a battle-plan tailor made for exploiting Surfer's weaknesses. Surfer, in contrast, doesn't know much about Superman, since he and his teammates are all Marvel characters (except one Wildstorm). Anyway, this version of the Surfer tends to use a straightforward approach of blasting people with cosmic energy or cutting them apart with his razor sharp board. He's not one to rely on the more subtle uses of the Power Cosmic like 616 Silver Surfer. That predictability makes him that much easier for Superman to plan for.]

Still, Silver Surfer doesn't go down easily, and as the fight continues it strays into the upper atmosphere and then into space itself. Since the brute force approach clearly isn't working, desperation forces Surfer to adjust his tactics. Using his control of electromagnetic energy, he sends out a burst of blinding light in all directions. For a fraction of a second, Superman can't see his opponent (and can't hear him either, since there's no sound in space). But Clark keeps moving, to avoid letting the Surfer get in a free shot, and his sight quickly clears. Seeing Surfer right in front of him, he charges towards him and throws a haymaker . . . which hits nothing but empty space. Surfer had used his energy manipulation to bend light and make his image appear a few meters away from his actual location -- a decoy image meant to position his opponent for a perfectly timed attack. Superman doesn't even have time to realize he's been duped before the Surfer's razor sharp surfboard slams into him at high velocity and impales him straight through the chest.

[Note: I may be being too generous here. Surfer at times has been taken out with physical blows, such as when he was knocked out cold by Lunatik (a Lobo parody). Thor has KOed him as well, and in the JLA/Avengers crossover we saw that Superman is stronger than Thor. (Normally I mostly discount intercompany crossovers, but I recall from our previous discussions that that one has been claimed to be part of continuity at least for DC -- well, at least for pre-Infinite Crisis DC, I guess.) Even if Superman can't knock him out, I'm taking a big leap by having Surfer use his powers in creative ways like making himself invisible. This version of Surfer never did anything like that -- he was more like a berzerker version of the Surfer. (This despite the fact that he was supposed to be an astrophysicist. This guy wasn't pulling any sciency tricks like Dr. Doom did with the power cosmic.) But anyway, I didn't want to take any chance of being accused of not giving Khell's ubers enough credit.]

Silver Surfer vs. Martian Manhunter and Blink
Once Cable had left the scene of their fight and not returned, Martian Manhunter figures Psylocke must have done her job. So he telepathically links up with Cable to see if he needs help with the Silver Surfer. Had he been a moment quicker he might have been able to join the battle and turn the tide, but unfortunately he only just establishes the mind link in time to see Superman run-through with his opponent's silver surfboard.

[Again, I'm probably being too generous to Khell's team here. The way I wrote it Martian Manhunter's attack on Cable was a fairly quick thing, whereas the Surfer vs. Superman fight dragged on for a while. So probably J'onn would have time to join in and double team Surfer, in which case I think together my ubers could overwhelm him. But like I said, I'd rather err on the side of favoring Khell's guys than be called out for underwriting them.]

Though agonized with rage and grief at the loss of the teammate he deeply respected, J'onn knows he can't lose site of the matter at hand. As the only two ubers left standing, he doesn't need to be the mind reader he is to know that the Silver Surfer is coming for him. He telepathically summons Blink back to his side. During prep-time the mutant had warned him of just how dangerous Surfer is. But she also told him how the Surfer was inexperienced when it came to facing teleporters, as this was by his own admission a "rare gift" in his universe. They had agreed that if it became necessary J'onn would telepathically take direct control of her mind, to allow him to trigger her teleportational powers at his much faster rate of thought. As Surfer comes streaking downward through the air, a portal opens ahead and to the side of him. Faster than he can react, a shapeshifting arm streches through the portal and closelines him right off his board. As the Surfer falls, another portal snaps open in the path of his board, teleporting the high-speed razor sharp projectile directly behind him. Surfer's silvery skin makes a sickening crunch as the board imbeds in his back. And just like that the Martian Manhunter is on him, his massive fists swinging at superspeed to pound the wounded body of his foe. Sufer's once strong will crumbles under the assault, and the Martian Manhunter rips into his mind with telepathic fury.

Seldom has J'onn ever let himself go like this, but he knows he faces a man who has murdered whole planets, whose victims are far too many to count. And while J'onn cannont name those many billions whose lives the Surfer snuffed out, there is one whose name he knows all too well. There is one who J'onn saw die through the man's own eyes, whose passing he felt in the core of his being.

His name was Kal-El.

As he lets loose on the Silver Surfer with all his might, J'onn vows that that name will be the last.

Martian Manhunter vs. the rest

Once the ubers are out of the way, J'onn should be able to finish off everyone else with relative easy. He can transform his body into stone or something to avoid letting Iceman attack his moisture, and then smash his icy body to bits. Or he could just psi-blast him, since even in his ice form body Bobby isn't immune to telepathy. [With Psylocke having briefed him during prep-time, J'onn is well prepared for anything Iceman can do.]

Death Wolverine and Midnighter are likewise easily disposed of, using telepathy and such if necessary but probably just pounding them out with his far, far greater strength and speed. J'onn is just way out of their league.

One Final Note:
It may seem that I totally ignored Khell's lower level characters for most of my writeup. But the point is that I've deliberately structured my strategy so as to give his regulars and medium nothing to do. They really aren't a physical match for my ubers, so they're going to avoid those fights lest they be swiftly destroyed. They aren't going to be able to find Psylocke, because she's already been miniaturized during prep-time. Sure, they can go after the Atom, but he's irrelevant to my strategy anyway after he's given the shrinking suit to Psylocke in prep-time. As for Blink, I had her teleport in for one quick surprise attack on Cable and then teleport away. She teleported back to help Martian Manhunter at the end, but in between her only job is to avoid the other team's mediums/regulars. In a city the size of Tokyo, that should be beyond easy. She can just keep teleporting from one neighborhood to the next. Wolverine's senses are good, but he's not going to smell someone on the other side of the city. In the very unlikely event that she happens to teleport into a place near enough for him to get her scent (or that he happens to teleport in near her), she will probably have moved on to the next location before he gets to her. Tokyo (or any major metropolis) is just a freaking huge place in which to hide out if all you want is not to be found. My team also has a day of prep-time to figure out ways to disguise her scent.

One more thing: I want to remind everyone that it's in the official rules that you should vote based on strategy and such, not just based on which team looks better on paper. If I sent my lower levels to fight Khell's I think his probably have the advantage. Likewise if I had my ubers face off against his one-on-one, I think his may have the edge (although my guys' speed would at least make it competitive). But that's exactly why I don't do that. Instead I'm having my team use teamwork, with the lower levels working with the ubers to take out the opposing ubers, while leaving his lower level guys without much to do until my ubers are ready to turn their attention to them. With this sort of teamwork in place, I do think my guys have the edge. His team won't be able to pull off the same level of teamwork, partly because I made sure to take out the telepath who I'd expect to be coordinating their efforts, and partly because they all have drastically different temperments. His version of Silver Surfer is extremely evil, and Death Wolverine is also a villain, but he's pairing them with good guys like Iceman and Cable. (Cable was actually one of the guys fighting against Death Wolverine in the comics.) This is not a recipe for harmonious teamwork.

Wow, Tim, you're more callous to your team than the Timebroker.

Wow, Tim, you're more callous to your team than the Timebroker.
Partly that's because I felt I needed to remind myself that it's not really my team -- that I'm just substituting for an ownerless team (so there isn't even anyone counting on me to win). Otherwise I'll end up reverting to my tendency to spend way to much time on it, and won't get done the work I need to do on my thesis.

But partly I just like playing the part of the omnipotent bastard. :D

I hear that. I got work, I got my senior seminar, and I'm supposed to find time for the DTL?

Prep Time
With three geniuses (Majestros, Anarky, and Spartan) and a top-shelf technopath with nanoblood on the team, the Authorititans turn the entire city of Tokyo into their personal war machine. Anarky and Engineer work together to build teleportation devices into strategic areas, and even construct a few boom tubes for battlefield removal (Anarky has built one literally from scratch before.) They stud the city with automated weapon systems keyed to fire on any movement that isn't one of the team members. And why the **** not, I'll just shamelessly rip from Khel's book and have Engineer load the area with nanomines keyed to go off on any motion that isn't a team member. Anarky and Engineer also outfit the entire team with copies of his helmet heads-up tac display.

Battle Time

The entire team has the advantage of dictating fights because they have a speed advantage and they have the advantage of knowing where their opponents and team members are at all times.

Quicksilver vs. Proctor
Superspeed for the win. With Proctor preoccupied with the entire city of Tokyo assaulting him with automated weapon systems and vicious mines, and Quicksilver having the superspeed advantage as well as the advantage of a heads-up display and a strategically placed teleportation devices to shove Proctor into to transport him to freshly mined areas and to disorient him, it's a no-brainer. Quicksilver takes it easily.

Anarky vs. Ambrose Chase
Ambrose Chase ain't never seen a boom tube before. Anarky has the advantage of a tac display to make him completely familiar with the layout of Tokyo. This also tips him off to Chase's location. The entire team can avoid Chase's physics distortion field, while Anarky can figure out how best to take him down with a boom tube. He ambushes Chase from behind, sets off a boom tube, and sends Chase to the other end of the universe.

Engineer vs. Scarlet Witch
Magic vs. technology. Out in the wilderness, this fight might be up in the air, but in a city that has been completely remade into one gigantic weapon, Scarlet Witch is screwed. Engineer can control the entire city through her technological network, and Scarlet Witch can manipulate probability. She puts up a fight, but she has no chance.

Maxima vs. Mr. Majestic
Maxima comes at some kind of romantic crap because Majestros is kind of like Superman, which frankly only serves to distract her. She attempts a psy-attack, but Maj blasts her with psionic energy and proceeds to beat the living **** out of her. She's just outclassed and outmatched. She's a slight underdog against Superman, who's pulling punches. Majestros is more powerful than Superman, and he's not pulling punches. He's quite possibly psychotic, he's training an island army to take over the post-apocalyptic WildStorm earth, and he's destined to be one of the last sentient beings in the universe. He knocks her out with one lass colossal blow, and flies off to help Spartan. "I'm not Superman, you weird b****."

Spartan/Void vs. Shanzar
Shanzar, being a Sorceror Supreme, has the massively unfair advantage of being one of the few tuber characters that is still inexplicably allowed in the DTL, but Spartan/Void has better speed, being able to act at the speed of thought, which to a computer brain is instantaneous. The fight is probably somewhat even for awhile, since Spartan probably doesn't have the firepower to fully capitalize on his speed advantage, because Shanzar is ridiculously overpowered. However, when Majestros comes to Spartan's aid, that tips the balance in favor of the Authorititans, and Shanzar goes down.

Battle:

The silver, razor-edged board shattered the light speed barrier just as it shattered the big red S, and the rib cage beneath it. Cable, cursing the murderous actions of his teammate, moved to confront the Martian, who was delayed for a few stunned moments by the brutal death of his ally. It was an epic battle, telepathy versus telepathy and strength versus telekinetic energy. When the Martian tried to phase through his shields, Cable simply teleported clear. Attacked by a telepath of comparable power, and on the molecular level by vast telekinesis, the Martian was left an insensate green puddle.

Invisible to most means of detection, Death appeared in the midst of his enemies, unleashing a blast of energy from his sword. Though she teleported clear, Blink's back was lashed by the brutal, searing energy. The girl moved through the city, having been drawn into a sick cat-and-mouse game by a teleporter who had the advantage of invisibility and incredible senses.

The Atom stepped on one of the many vital blood vessels in Midnighter's head, and applied nearly three ounces of pressure. Seeing the man in black topple over dead, Iceman promply froze him, approaching near absolute zero, that being the point at which even atomic motion ceases. Atom, nearly large enough to be visible, was not immune to this deep and near-instant freeze.

Psylocke streaked in, shattered Bobby's arm with a telekinetic blast. He reformed it, and sped away on an ice sled, creating wave after wave of massive ice constructs to hinder her pursuit. Shivering heavily, she flew into the air to give chase for nearly a whole five seconds, before her core temperature dropped enough to cause severe hypothermia. Catching his former teammate, Bobby allowed her body to stabilize her temperature.

Notes:
Yeah, I'm still annoyed by Phoenix getting let in, and thus not in the mood to be charitable.

Shoving his board through an opponents body at a high percentage of C is exactly the kind of thing a bastard like Surfer does. Supes might dodge a while, but no way do you beat his board in pure flight speed. And Surfer is powerful enough and strong enough to damage and take punches from Gladiator, so no love just knocking him out before the board gets you.

Psylocke may have good shields, but I don't think they can protect her from heat loss. Feel free to provide scans to prove me wrong. So, really, bobby just has to keep her off his jock for the few seconds it takes him to drop her temp by, I don't know, 20 degrees should do it?

Invisible teleporter with super senses > ****able purple teleporter with throwing weapons.

Atom is really annoying goddamn Reg.

Just got mine up myself. Patience was definitely appreciated.

Maxima can hang with Superman.
She can hang with a Superman that holds back.

Add to that her telepathy, and she can start screwing with Majestic's mind. Maybe even make him think that Spartan is the enemy.
Maj has psionic abilities of his own, and although I think I failed to mention it, I've always had Anarky outfit the team with psi-protectors.

fight in various inventive ways like cutting Spartan in half with a portal or possessing him.
Spartan's too fast.

Anarky can have various traps and weapons ready to fight his enemies. But all Proctor has to do is screw with his brain from a distance.
All Anarky has to do is not be dumb enough to go after Proctor.

Wanda, knowing how direct her brother tends to act, is ready for him. Quicksilver runs up to her expecting a trap, but hoping to either talk her out of the fight or take her down as painlessly as possible.
In a stunning display of mental ******ation, Quicksilver attacks his sister instead of going for the easy target of Proctor.

Chaos & Order win.
Only if they get the most ******edly easy matchups. If the Authorititans decide to throw all strategy out the window and attack the most moronically mismatched targets, then yes, they probably don't do as well.

My writeup is up. I'm super busy, so I think I'll just let the writeups stand on their own merits unless Khell really wants to debate. I don't deny that if my team fought the sort of one-on-one battles Khell described, they'd be at a disadvantage. I tried to give them a better strategy than that, which I think is reasonable, given that my team would have a very good idea of what they're up against. Psylocke knows Cable, Iceman, and Death Wolverine -- and Blink knows this version of Silver Surfer.

Regarding Wieg and Ari's match, I just don't see Wieg's ubers handling the speed of Ari's.

Shanzar has no superspeed that I know of, meaning he's way, way slower than Spartan and Majestic. Wieg has Shanzar opening a portal between his location and Spartan's to prevent him from being separated from Maxima. But the thing is, I think Spartan would have teleported him away from Maxima well before he has time to (1) magically scry for Spartan's location and (2) Open a portal there. Plus he's probably going to want to be spending some time raising his own magical shields, so he doesn't get splattered by Majestic. Even if Shanzar does open a portal, there's no reason Spartan can't teleport himself, Majestic and Shanzar to a new location -- or just teleport Maxima as far away as he possibly can. If Shanzar is going to be constantly opening portals to try to bring Maxima back, he's not going to be able to devote much effort to defending himself from Majestic/Spartan. Likewise, if Shanzar teleports himself away Spartan can just teleport him back, and I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate to teleport him right into the path of one of Majestic's punches.

So, in short, I think that Spartan's power will allow him to isolate Shanzar against him and Majestic, and when he does it shouldn't take the much faster Spartan and Majestic long to beat him. Once they do, they can similarly double team Maxima. Majestic alone would be tough for her to beat -- Majestic and Spartan together should be too much.

The speed advantage and Spartan's ability to dictate the matchups just seems too much. Shanzar can teleport things as well, but he's not as good with it as Spartan and not fast enough to do that while simultaneously fending off Spartan and Majestic.

I vote for the Authorititans.

Authorititans.

Mainly because Chaos & Order have no geniuses whatsoever. Being in Tokyo is almost like being on the Deathstar. Advantage Authorititans.

Heroes of the New Age

Mainly because of the shrinky dink Psylocke. Nice attack. After that the dominoes fall beginning with the Surfer vs Superman.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Too close to call on the ubers, Tim takes the lower-levels, I'll vote for HOTNA.

I think the Surfer can beat Superman, Manhunter can beat Cable, which leads to a very interesting uber matchup.

In the lower levels, I liked how Khell took care of Atom. But even Tim admits that Atom wasn't much more than cannon fodder anyway. And his use of Psylocke with Atom's suit, combined with her and Blink's teleportation, can keep Bobby and Death at bay, while still giving them the freedom to help the Manhunter.

The edge in this one goes to Heroes of the New Age

The Authoritarians gets the vopte for me.

And I will not vote on the next match or any match of The Immortals for the rest of the season, unless I am told different.

Authorititans
There's probably some sort of strategy you could come up with beating Ari's team in this situation, with both the speed and tech advantages, but I'm not sure what that would be.
