Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

Decent trailer but if it sucks I wont be surprised. the farrelly brothers are turning into the wachowskis of comedy by each passing movie. I reserve faith knowing Jim and especially jeff wouldnt come back unless it was a great script. I did laugh with the phone bit though, that scene caught the spirit of the first one for me.

Regardless of how the second one is perceived, I'll still love the first.

"Pretty bird, pretty bird..."

There is actually a lot to like in that trailer. I see a lot of what made the first, and movies like Me, Myself, and Irene, work so well. I still won't spend the money to see it in the theater, but it looks like it's worth watching.

There's another trailer with different footage (there's a scene where they're walking towards a couple of girls) but I haven't found it yet. If someone has a link, please post it.

After watching it a few more times, it really does seem in the spirit of the first one. The asylum bit at the beginning is great. As someone said, the best part of the original was the more subtle things, like the lines we quoted on the previous pages, and I think it's hard to communicate that kind of comedy in a trailer. The original Dumb and Dumber trailer did that, and frankly, that trailer isn't very well-made either. I'm excited for this.

Even the cat being named butthole makes me laugh...

I think because that movie was a little ahead of its time, like Ace Ventura was. Nowadays every other flick or tv show is about a well meaning or unsympathetic dullard who basically causes strife with the rest of us normals.

Even though the trailer won't really show it, I hope this movie also has the same sweetness and heart as the first one. Yes, there were a lot of dumb jokes, but there was a simple innocence about these guys, that you never felt you were laughing at them, but with them. I hope this movie does that more than just have rapid fire jokes.

This trailer looks better than I expected I'm very optimistic about this one.

This looks funny but I think expectations maybe have ruined the debut of this trailer.

I hope that we're just overanalyzing the trailer (which was a mixed bag) and the final product might end up being good.

But what many have said here, the Farelly Brothers have sucked..sucked for the past decade.

Considering the movie and it's legendary status - yes I do believe most people on here are overanalyzing. I noticed many on this site tend to try to decide the movie's fate from an opening trailer.

Geez, did we all watch the same trailer because I liked the it a lot. I always get apprehensive about comedy trailers because the novelty of the jokes are gone by the time you see them at the theater. But hopefully this delivers. I'm pretty optimistic about it.

Again, I think the trailer was fine though the cinematography is nasty and flat. Even 'Tammy' has better cinematography.

-"Harry, I'm pregnant. Please call me"
-What do you think it means, Harry?

The quotable lines from the first movie are definetely there.

Who really cares about cinematography when it's a comedy of this nature? The first film was equally as flat in that regard.

I think it's because it doesn't blend with the first movie and looks different. Take the apartment scene, for example. In the first movie it looked like a real place, but in this one it looks like a model of that apartment built in a set.
Doesn't bother me too much, to be honest. But they also have several months to correct this things in post-production with coloring and all that stuff.

This was also shot on digital while the original was done on film. Inherently, it's going to look different.

Right, right, That's true. Maybe that's it.
But hey, at least they took care of the details. The couch is exactly the same.

I can't wait for this, I loved first one as a kid. Saw the first one couple of weeks ago brings back some memories.

I'm reading a lot of positive feedback on Twitter.

Weak trailer. A lot of it feels too back-nodding. And some stuff actually seems too "dumb" ironically enough. The dumb stuff is not funny if everything is dumb.

Does the cinematography matter a lot in a movie like this? No. But it doesn't mean it doesn't matter. It's distractingly bad at times in the trailer.

I don't think a trailer could really do a good job showcasing the humor we expect from a Dumb and Dumber sequel.

This trailer had it's work cut out for it, huh?

I laughed and it made me feel nostalgic, so it worked for me.

i agree that the cinematography looks flat. it looks like the production budget is very low. seeing all the wrinkles on both actors is IMO proof that the budget is low. a new trend in hollywood movies is making old actors look young.its expensive.

for example Tom Cruise in interviews looks 10 years older than in Edge of Tomorrow. no retouching was done on Carrey and Daniels in the trailer hahaha.

Why would the characters need retouching?

It's 20 years later. So therefore, the characters/actors are 20 years older.
