Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

Never watched the original. Not a huge fan of comedies either so probably not for me. My boyfriend said he liked it tho so maybe it's just me lol.

And this movie is for sure for fans of the original. There's a lot of throwbacks and references to it. But there's also plenty of original gags in them movie as well. The references to the original, when they're done, I found worked.

The ending of this movie likely won't make much sense to anybody who hasn't seen or can't remember the original very well either.

Cam Neely just said on boston radio show he's back during credits as Seabass

I thought his cameo was kinda a letdown. But Billy in 4C's role in the movie was great and funny.

The only thing that worried me was Carrey and Daniels phoning it in but by all accounts they are great in it.

Was gonna see John Wick last night but noticed this was playing at 8pm so I said **** it and saw this instead.

Overall, I wouldn't call this a bad movie, but it's weird. For the first chunk of the movie, it felt like watching an extended Funny or Die/SNL video where Daniels and Carrey are almost impersonating themselves and their old characters. Almost seems more cheaply made than the original. It was weird and awkward to watch at first, but once you settle into it and the story gets moving, things start to feel more natural and I let go of that notion.

The movie is funny throughout, with some truly uproarious moments and some real stinker jokes that totally bomb. The whole movie is hit or miss, but many more bits "miss" than they did in the original. Jim Carrey is still fantastic and completely steals the show. All of the best moments are from him. Just like in the original, it's the little things he does that kill.

Obviously, the original has become such a classic that this was never going to surpass or match it's greatness. Everyone knows that going into this sequel, I'm sure. This movie follows the exact same formula of the original to a T, although I'm not sure I can name that as a complaint because that's ultimately the "point" of the movie -- that these two guys will never change and will be trapped in their dimwitted limbo forever.

Either way, it was cool to revisit the characters but I can't recommend that anyone needs to run to theaters to see it. I'd classify it as a rental.

There's no way I won't be seeing it. I'm glad to see the feedback here is more favorable than the reviews. I'm going in with my expectations low, but it sounds like there is some genuine funny to be found in there even if there are some misses. Hopefully I can make it out to the movies tonight.

The first...maybe, 45 minutes are really hit or miss IMO. But the rest was great...I don't understand how some can like the first but hate the second.

I'd say 8/10, it's not the original, but it sure as hell isn't the prequel.

The first movie didn't get good reviews either. It was over the years that the movie found the audience and the cult following.
I think the same goes for Dumb To. The problem is that is being constantly compared with the first one and while it loses, is not nearly as mediocre as some reviewers are saying.
It's an approach to comedy that is more classic that the current trends, more slapstick, jokes, punchlines and comedic performances, than Apatow-like comedies that go with the motions of the actors. This type of comedy is much more difficult, and I'm glad that they did it. I laughed a lot with this film. I haven't laughed like that in a long time. And my theater too, it was a really good time. I'm kinda sad is not being reviewed in a more positive light. But, oh well.

I loved Three Stooges and I suspect that's what it's gonna remind me of. Either you laugh at that kinda humor or you don't.

Just got back after walking a drunk couple to their hotel, but had to post this before hitting the sack. Go see the film people. Yes, it is a complete rehash. But the way it was written. The way they built up to every punch line. The execution. This is some of the Farrellys' best work. You see just how much work and thought they put into this script. Years in the making. It's not easy to follow up that film back in 94', but this is about as good as you are going to get for a sequel 20 years in the making.

Penny stole it for me. The chick that plays her feels like the offspring of one of them so much it's eerie. And she's insanely cute.

She was ****ing hot and too cute. It was distracting.

I thought it was just as good as the first one.

It probably is. The first one is being remembered as an untouchable classic but I thought that was also hit or miss for me. Still this is a must see because when they do hit its top notch.

I heard a radio interview with the Farrelys and they were talking about how studios were pushing for a Something about Mary sequel and how that didn't make sense to them but Dumb and Dumber 2 was perfect because these guys don't evolve.

I think the first one became something more than what originally was because it is one of the most rewatchable films I know, but also because it has endured the test of time. The plot is genious, specially the third act when they discover the money. It moves the story forward in a way the second one, in my opinion, couldn't. But I still really really liked Dumb To and I think I may go see it again soon. I haven't laughed like that in a long time. I've been needing a comedy like Dumb and Dumber To.

This movie isn't all that great but it's weird that you don't like comedy movies. Everyone needs to laugh. I don't want to watch a super serious drama all the time you know.

I was about to say the same. I've never met someone who wasn't a fan of comedies...

Just saw it, way better than most of the reviews are giving it credit for. If you liked the first one you'll like this one. Just don't go in expecting to be blown away. Was it as good as the original? Nope. Was it a great time? Absolutely.

They probably meant it takes a lot to make them laugh. I know quite a few like it.
